  1. Kelvin Benjamin with better hands, better conditioning and more "desire to compete."
  2. I think most teams place a priority on a WR that already knows their offense. I thought maybe some team that competed with the Bills to sign him out of the CFL might take their chance now but am glad he is still with the Bills. WRs and DBs seem like the most injured position group on this team. I think he will get an NFL game check at some point.
  3. There is a report that former UB QB Drew Anderson will be on the Cardinals PS. I had lost track of him after Murray State.
  4. Many are pointing out the demand for players waived by the Bills as a strength of the roster. I think it's also a sign of good coaching as is the 4-0 preseason record. The players at the bottom of the roster have been coached well and have performed better than the competition. Coach McD and staff have created a culture where the right kind of players are brought in, get coached up and improve as players. That happens top to bottom. Trust the process.
  5. This is kind of a trick question. The run/pass ratio is the result of something not the cause. Game situations, ahead or behind, one score or two, late in the game or early, down and distance. If Josh didn't have so many scramble runs last year what would the ratio have looked like? If 48 scramble runs were pass attempts or sacks how does change the appearance of last year's team? Leaning on the passing game more on first down, in the first half or with only a small lead would be a sign of progress.
  6. I'll add Drew Brees to this. There is a reason why the Chargers drafted Eli Manning and traded him for Philip Rivers after 3 years of Drew Brees.
  7. No conspiracy. The OP saw it discussed on PFT and thought this was new information. What! Kennedy was assassinated!? If you know your SNL history. Anyways, he is an interesting topic that generates many different opinions.
  8. Maybe forced to watch the Orioles and, if he has any recurrence of off field problems, he has to return to watch them in perpetuity.
  9. In the sense that he is unable to be around the team and loses his weekly game checks, a suspension and being waived have the same consequences. At least you are likely to return to the team after a suspension. I would make the point that the Broncos punishment was more severe and that the NFL suspension was unnecessary.
  10. Every time that idea comes up, my counter argument is that no one would be interested if he had grown up in East Brady or Red Lion or anywhere else than in WNY. As it is, WNY is a relatively small pond in the football world so he could not go unnoticed and his last name made him all the more newsworthy. The PPK championships, the Red Lion HS school team, the SJCI years, the UA allstar camp, signing at Clemson, the knee injury, the spring game dismissal, the championship year at Last Chance U, the signing at Ol' Miss, the nightclub fight/arrest, the great 2015 year for the Rebels, the knee injury in 2016, his brother's HS game brawl, the combine disinvite, the ruptured wrist tendon at his Pro Day, the Mr. Irrelevant draft position, winning QB#2 at Denver, the bizarre Halloween party incidents, his being waived and now the Colts. All of this made news in WNY. Chad is like a modern day, reality TV version of a Greek Trajedy. Enormously talented but with devastating flaws and lots of obstacles to overcome. Does it end as a trajedy or as a story of redemption? I am interested in how the story ends and I am hoping to see the latter. Here is a link to a story written by a Colts media member who questioned the Colts signing Chad back in May: Gregg Doyel of the Indy Star
  11. Actually that would have been a good argument. The Broncos waived him, effectively suspending for 8 games. The NFL imposed 2 game suspension seems redundant but I doubt Chad felt like that challenge to authority persona was the right way to go.
  12. On the field Chad is not a joke. If he had been allowed to the combine he would have tested in elite range, imo. Sub 4.7 sec 40 time, 60+ mph on his power throw. He sees the field really well and his quick release can beat pressure and coverage. He is a legit dual threat that plays with a high football IQ. That's how he managed to lead Ole Miss to wins over Alabama, LSU and Auburn in the same season for the first time ever and their first Sugar Bowl win since Richard Nixon was the POTUS. Now the frat boy, gangsta wannabe behaviour is a joke and maybe, just maybe he has figured that out. I would also bet that the Indianapolis Colts made some sort of counseling a condition of his being on the team. There was a reference at some point to surrounding Chad with the "right kind of structure" which sounds like a package deal that would include whatever type counseling he needed, substance abuse, anger management, knuckleheadedness, whatever.
  13. The greatest comeback in NCAA history, may still be true, and the greatest comeback in NFL history as a QB and brought his team from 1 and 5 to a 10 and 6 playoff season as the HC. I think he knows something about mental toughness and leadership.
  14. I suppose it comes down to how much he has shown in practice and if he can show better in 2 days. The 3rd string QB on the ps needs to be able to run the scout team well enough to give the defense a good look. There is a huge question as to if he could do that well enough to justify the ps spot. I think the Bills sunk $75k in his UDFA bonus which is relativley big and shows how much they wanted to work with him.
  15. It was good this happened. Maybe it is now less likely to occur in a game that matters. Josh has to suppress the "see play, make play" thoughts that emerge from his primal brain.
  16. Riveron(?) said the call was upheld because the replay did not show the entire route and the offensive player may have pushed the defender off prior to what was seen on the video. I always thought the official that made the call should be part of the review process. They know what they saw or think they did and it either matches the video replay or doesn't. Never mind. Already covered. The point about the flag out of the pocket is a definitive. The call was made on something that occurred well before the ball arrived.
  17. One of those recruiting sites had him attending multiple camps. Penn State, Michigan State, Pitt, Syracuse, Miami of Ohio, probably more. That is the route to getting offers if you play in WNY and that's how Cole Snyder got his offer from Rutgers. He is currently competing for #3 on their depth chart and could see some action after the Red Shirt elligibility becomes locked in. I think if MM hadn't committed so early, he might have seen more offers. Playing like you have been disrespected is a good thing. It worked really well for Thurman and Josh Allen. In 3 or 4 years, Matt might be close to JA's athletic profile.
  18. Other than post season success, there is almost nothing that would make a bigger splash to present himself as a serious presence on the NFL QB scene than beating them twice. 4000 yds., 30+ TDs, 600+ yds. rushing with another 6 TDs. Nah, beat Brady twice and the whole NFL notices.
  19. Not sure about his arm strength but at 6'4", 220 lbs. he's liable to have a Josh Allen type build by the time he is done. Most of the HS videos showed him making throws with lots of air under the ball but those are easy for the WRs and rarely do HS QBs around here need to make the power type throws. He has a 40 time of 4.85 posted as a junior, played hockey and lacrosse. I like this profile and wonder how many other offers he might have gotten because he should have gotten more. I think he committed to UB before WSW made their state title run which was probably came too late in the process to generate additional offers. ' This might work out really well for them.
  20. And if a QB manages to escape from poor protection and is able to throw the ball away (a good play not all can make) it hurts his ypa and completion%.
  21. After NP failed in game 1, it was sink or swim for Josh. Imo, most of the time he was doing the doggie paddle in a cesspool which is to his credit. He is a late bloomer in both his physical and QB brain development and an outlier in his athletic profile. He was somewhat scrawny and slow (La Totuga!) in high school. He did not transfer to a bigger school to create a bigger recruiting profile. Everything that was working against him last year has been addressed and in some cases in major ways. Coaching, protection, passing game weapons, running game production, 1st team practice time, playbook knowledge, everything. His detractors won't recognize him.
  22. I was ok with preseason game 4 awhile back. I thought it would be interesting to watch Tyree play the bulk of a game in an attempt to make the ps along with an interesting crop of new WR additions. Now it looks like it might be an event to witness the death of Tyree's NFL dream and that has little appeal to me. I do not think he can play TE. He always seems gasping for air, filled with doubt to the point it cripples his competitive will. Watch Chad Kelly play and you see much of what Tyree lacks as a competitor. I hope Tyree can prove me wrong.
  23. The last time the Steelers played here, I was struck by Bell's running style. It was extremely patient. It was like he knew his o-line would eventually create a downfield crease and all he had to do was wait for it to happen. That is not the norm and I doubt it works with the Jets. He will have to adjust and be quicker to the line whether there is a hole there or not. Otherwise, I'd predict a bunch of TFLs.
  24. It's worse than that. I don't think they would play Barkley much either-- as the primary backup he ranks too high up the food chain. They maybe need to pray that the light comes on for Tyree and that he gives them a chance to make some plays.
  25. Exactly. Way to add to my point to make it stronger. I'd maybe question why Cooper didn't show better in Oakland because they sure expected more from him but he seems to be what Dak needed.
