  1. He knew josh was wrapped up and had a free shot. That's a good chance to prevent additional yards for a 1st down and/or possibly cause a fumble. Deciding to lead with the right shoulder put his head in the strike zone and if he had chosen his left his head would have been totally clear of any chance for contact. So, I am ok with the nonejection but would wonder why he lead with the right (risky) instead of the left (much safer.)
  2. That's a good idea too. I did the $44.44 so they'd know why the donation was made. I wanted to do something for the 4 who were lost and since Jeremy is a Syracuse alumnus he might appreciate a pair of "44's."
  3. Well, I chose to make a $44.44 donation in honor of their 4 and a pair of honorary S.U. 44's.
  4. He is talking on air about it now and my eyes are leaking. Maybe sharing his grief with us can ease his some, which is ok with me. We can try to make some good of this in their names, Zoe, Lincoln, Myles and Breckon. He mentioned this organization at the end. Western New York Perinatal Bereavement
  5. I think Zay misread the ball on the sideline. Defending would be easy because any pass catcher in the air near the sideline can be easily pushed out of bounds. The elmination of the force out rule makes that the best play and I'd bet that's what players are coached to do in that situation.
  6. This brings up a topic that I have some additional thoughts on. I do not think that the wind has as big of an effect at the field level as it used to. Something about the redesign work, bigger scoreboard, added scoreboards, etc. has mitigated the wind at the field level. I hate to sound like the old man that talks about how it was tougher in the old days but there were often games where the offense simply could not pass the ball moving toward the scoreboard endzone. Of course that's when there was only 1 scoreboard in the stadium. Marv's first game as their HC was against the Steelers in November 1986. The Bills won largely because Robb Riddick could grind out rushing yards and keep the clock moving in the quarters when they were driving toward the scoreboard end and thus eat up the time the Steelers had available to them when they were to move toward the tunnel end. Here is a link to the box score of the game with some really ugly passing stats: Bills/Steelers 1986 It says the wind was 27 mph that day. I can't recall any game that has played like that since the remodel. Often now the flags at the top of the stadium are ripping but the flags on the goalposts are barely moving.
  7. It used to be the "7 corners" and require multiple police officers directing traffic. Since they redid it it's much better. The light for Big Tree is now at the main entrance to the Tops parking lot and is usuallly a blinking yellow after games. I think Big Tree does connect to Rt 5 but a slight right on Bay View gets you there quicker.
  8. Ok, the younger guys have something else on the old guys. Sometime during the spring we had a thread about expectations in which I said the Bills offense would be middle of the pack, but be very effective in the RedZone and average around 23 pts a game. Josh is an unusual combination of power, size and athleticism that he is becoming the ultimate RedZone weapon. A defensive front 7 can get extremely fatigued converting from pass rush mode to chase Josh mode multiple times a game or on a particular drive. Picture the Dolphins D collapsed on the field in Miami after the incomplete pass attempt to Clay. This wasn't in celebration, this was totally spent. The last TD drive against the Bengals had two critical JA runs to get them to the 1. This could be how the Bills win at the end. Josh is a RedZone weapon throwing or running by size, speed or power and he is even more of a force at the end of a game when a defense has worn down. I can't picture the Bills not scoring a TD by some means with three plays from the 1.
  9. These two strategies are consistant. Heading south and west of the stadium before you head north gets you into normal traffic flow very quickly. Consider Big Tree and Bay View to route 5 which would avoid McKinley and Milestrip entirely.
  10. Yes it does. There should be an average time to throw if inside the pocket and one for when the throw is made outside the pocket. Otherwise it's apple and orange marmalade.
  11. You probably saw this play he made: Ole' Miss Tip Six 2015 And a very funny breakdown of the play at Red Cup Rebellion: How Perfectly Executed It Was
  12. On that keeper to the one he looked determined to score but...........He did not expose the ball by extending it to the goal line. That is an instinctual thing to do but very wrong unless it was a 4th down play which it was not.
  13. I got that vibe from their joint practices with Colts. Seemed to be lots of fights caused by the Browns after they struggled in the practices. Kitchens came with the "we won't back down and will impose our will" takes. That seemed like a total abdication from "don't be dumb, don't be dirty" thinking that a head coach should promote. Too much attititude at the expense of discipline doesn't earn anyone much in life.
  14. Don't stop him, he is on a roll- Belushi style.
  15. I would say that we can appreciate these players for the quality men they are, as it is warranted, and separate that from what they do on the field, good or bad. It is rather petty of us to be otherwise.
  16. The answer is BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB! A rookie QB is an inherent problem and the second year offers natural improvement. Good o-line play is the foundation of competant offense and the dysfunctional 2018 version was the biggest priority for an upgrade in 2019. It looks fixed and now every other part of the offense can perform and, in some cases, thrive.
  17. The Colts waited almost 48 hours to make the move. Maybe it was shopping for a trade offer or maybe it was a calculation to push the move further into the game prep week to slip him through waivers. Either way, I think he is in a good place to work on his game, rehab his professional reputation and get coached by a stable organization.
  18. For those of the Classic Rock Era Another one bites the dustAnother one bites the dustAnd another one gone, and another one goneAnother one bites the dustHey, I'm gonna get you, tooAnother one bites the dust or Well, I won't back downNo, I won't back downYou can stand me up at the gates of hellBut I won't back downNo, I'll stand my groundWon't be turned aroundAnd I'll keep this world from draggin' me downGonna stand my groundAnd I won't back down
  19. There is nothing bigger that Josh could do this season that would mark his ascension into the upper echelon of NFL QB hierarchy than leading the Bills to 2 wins over the Patriots. Anyone with even a casual interest in the NFL will notice. This may or may not include a victory in the playoffs over them. Mixing legendary metaphors, this is pulling the sword from the stone and slaying the Grendel with it. Lots of lesser achievements would do it too but not as many would recognize them.
  20. The challenge is when expectations are not met. JK had a tough time with that. It's ego, accepting criticsim even when it's misguided, facing the public and your teammates when you screwup in a big moment, interacting with a hostile, at times, press. Whether he succeeds at "Franchise QB" or not, he is the same person whether he gets viewed in a different way by the public or not.
  21. At some point during the offseason, in the midst of the SuperCade story, the team dinners in CA, the welcoming phone calls to his newest teammates, the Mothers Day event at the Japanese steakhouse, the autographs at SJF including the one for the kid with the Dolphins jersey and all the other public interactions he's made, I commented that Josh Allen has been getting really good at being Josh. He seems comfortable in every situation. I hope it stays the way.
  22. It wasn't 10 , it was closer to 5 and NFL QBs miss those throws all the time completing them less than 25% of the attempts. That one was mistimed by about .5 sec.
  23. I did not know that. I thought if someone made a waiver claim they pretty much have to go. That his NFL rights go to the claimer. I guess it would be rare to choose the PS of one team over the active roster of another but the Colts did more for Chad than give him a chance to be a camp arm. He might be wise to stay there.
  24. Whether there is any other opportunity or not, I think he'd be better off on the PS coached by Frank Reich and staff than on an active roster which is currently going through some kind of major QB upheaval ala the Jets headed by Adam Gase.
  25. The spate of QB injuries has created a situation where many teams are in deperation mode. If he is so bad why would the Colts have kept him this long or want him on their parctice squad? That is likely what they are trying to do. Report is he participated in their morning walk through session.
