An old tradition from the Knox era to greet the team at the airport after a big road win. In the TSA era is this still possible? This team effort deserves it.

Bills vs Broncos PreGame Thread
JESSEFEFFER replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I recall 2 near strip sacks where he managed to throw the the ball away while taking the hit. Borderline intentional grounding or worse plays. -
Flyover tomorrow is 4 A-10s from a Maryland Natonal Guard squadron. I love those pregame flyovers and how they shake the very ground. Braveheart reference. I do not recall seeing one by A-10s before. Maybe a good sign for Josh Allen to Cole Beasley connections.?

Steelers QB Mason Rudolph fined $50K by NFL
JESSEFEFFER replied to stosh64's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For the record, the Bills have stated that the gator roll technique is what they teach to bring the QB down without landing on him with full body weight and drawing the personal foul. Again, how would Garrett know the ball was out? The ball is released almost behind his head. -
Steelers QB Mason Rudolph fined $50K by NFL

Looks like we do agree. I said that the tackle was late but the contact was not. Garrett had him wrapped and then gator rolled to bring him down. How exactly would he know the ball was out? His eyes were inches from Rudolph when the throw was made. The throw was made out of his field of vision and there would be no whistle to stop the play in that situation. That was more of a takedown than a throw or a tackle. Phrases used by others like "drove him into the ground" or "landed on him" do not fit what that video shows. -
Steelers QB Mason Rudolph fined $50K by NFL

I disagree with that narrative. The throw was made with Garrett within a step. He was so close, within inches actually, that Rudolph could only make a push of a throw. There is no way that a defender in that position can know if the ball was out unless he can see out his ear hole. He did wrap and then take him down late with a gator roll but, again, the defender could not know if the ball was actually delivered. That's the way to take a QB down without landing on him with his full weight which would be a penalty. Garrett hits the ground first and Rudolph lands on top of him and then is rolled to the side. They are then face to face. Rudolph has played an awful game, just gotten rag dolled to the ground and takes exception to it and for some reason attempts to remove Garrett's helmet. Mayhem results. I'll bet the Bills defenders have problems with Rudolph too. He seems like that kind of player. -
Jerry Sullivan on our podcast: Anecdote about McDermott
JESSEFEFFER replied to gomper's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are many examples of the Bobby Knight and Woody Hayes variety of coach that didn't know when to dial it down. I think there is a place where an ultracompetitve person needs to draw the line between their ego and their interactions with others. It's tough to be a champion and know when not to be a jerk. Some do that well and others will never figure it out. -
Jerry Sullivan on our podcast: Anecdote about McDermott

Attention to detail. That's how he gotten this far. He treats everything as being important because some small detail might be the difference between winning and losing and there is no way of knowing which it might be. Rex had a laissez faire attitude toward his operation and it often got his team beat and got him fired. McDermott is the antiRex, Ultra competitve people are often jerks or control freaks because they don't always know when they need to hit the mute button in dealing with the people outside their bubble. It does sound like McD owed Fairburn an apology for how he treated him in that situation but it's not likely he is wired to even see it that way. It would be helpful if someone close to him could help him self correct before it hurts the cause. Maybe his wife or Beane. -
Broncos 4th Down Conversion %
JESSEFEFFER replied to DallasBillsFan1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Team's go for 4th down in such different circumstances that this stat is meaningless without further context. Fourth and goal at the 1 vs. 4th and 15 in the final minute of a game down 2 scores. -

On Thanksgiving, with a climate controlled environment and a national TV audience, and with Jim Nantz and Tony Romo on the call, the Bills are really pumped to play that game whereas the Cowboys view it as a PITA. Over under on Romo wows! for Josh Allen/Bills offensive plays? Maybe 7. I can see it now. At least one vertical route hit, but there might be more.

Losman was said to be a "one trick pony" by some becasue of his deep ball success. Trent Edwards earned the nickname Captain Checkdown for good reason. Owning the 10 to 20 range means the offense has a chance to succeed in the toughest of circumstances and is as the bolded states . Many of these routes are digs, comebacks and outs so YAC does not always come with them but they are throws made into the teeth of the defense, "Big Boy throws" as some say, and Josh's progress there is maybe the most encouraging growth in his game. The only thing missing has been the deep post and vertical routes but Jordan Palmer says they are coming.

Do you act bi-polar on game day?
JESSEFEFFER replied to Bubba Gump's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The real dichotomy is in how I view it. Watching at home on TV I am very stressed and easily provoked to anger to the point where I upset family members who are within earshot. Watching at New Era I am much calmer. It's like the emotions of the crowd help bear the burden. When things go badly, I just leave the stadium early because I do not need to see my team fail once I figure out that's the inevitable outcome. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Get the Job Done, Keep Learning
JESSEFEFFER replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Earn while they learn, what a deal. No team is the same in January as they were in September and this team has a chance to really make something of themselves in 2019. Back in August the depth of the roster and the quality of the coaching showed in a 4-0 preseason and the Bills took advantage of their strange schedule to get to this point and are gearing up to face a tough finishing stretch. As Van used to say, "Buckle your seatbelts!" Bills fans. -
Time and space and how to get the most from them. That's what experience can teach him. So much space and it seemed to both Josh and Dawson that there was more than enough time to make a simple pitch and catch. The defender broke from the middle of the D when Josh started to roll. Lots of bodies in between probably meant Josh never saw him closing on the play. The defender just got there in time. A throw more toward the corner or Knox making two steps toward the ball would make all the difference.
