Newton vs Allen and Pats vs Bills
JESSEFEFFER replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cam had seasons in 2013, 2014 and 2017 that looked very much like Josh's did in 2019. If you can point to anything in those years that Cam did better than Josh I'd be happy to discuss it. Cam played all 16 in 2017 so reaching all the way back to 2015 in an attempt to define what a healthy 2020 might look like is cherry picking at its finest. I'd say the biggest difference I see is their reputations heading into those seasons. So what you say is no contest I'd say looks like nearly identical production. -
Don't forget about that horrible penalty he called on Cody Ford for his bump of block that fell way short of the "forcible" threshold that the rule requires. The poor LB drops on 3rd and 17 plus the failure to even attempt to wrap up Watson by two unblocked defenders on the game deciding play were bad Daboll calls as well. Actually though, it's a good thing so many players can say they screwed up in that game. They all can share in the collective blame and still have confidence in their coaching leadership. Humbled by failure on a big stage and hungry to be coached to improve is a good way to start the 2020 season.

I have never seen an illegal touching call made in tandem with intentional grounding before. I think there was a common theme where the o-line could not handle the closing plays of a game in the no-huddle situation. Their whiff% went up as did their falling down-off balance,-trip over their own feet- while trying to pass set %. I think they got gassed and could not function normally. Of course TB12 can make a throw and land it outside of 10 yards of his nearest teammate and it's all good.

How many times did we see a team waive their PK after a loss to the Bills last year? Jets, Titans Cowboys? Maybe there was another? Kickers are not scheme specific nor do they need to learn a playbook. Thus, there is no patience for young kickers to learn on the job nor is there much tolerance for any kicker that costs a team wins. There always seems to be a market for free agent kickers once the season begins and I don't think PS is a normal consideration but this is not a normal year. I can see them starting the season with both on the roster and letting it sort itself out. Once injuries hit and that extra roster spot becomes more valuable, one might have to go.

Duke back. CB King released.

I think Foster had turf toe last year which is difficult to overcome while playing. I never sensed an attitude problem. If there is something to it, I'd wonder what it is. Duke injured his right shoulder vs the Dolphins. I suspect a sprained AC joint. We never know what these players are dealing with and how it affects what they can do. -

Your sarcasm is warranted. I forgot about that play. -

I think the uncontested catch not made by Brown with the totally unnecessary bunny hop was an easier play not made. Both effectively cost them 4 pts. -

Better to keep your own than roll the dice on other teams' cuts who did not even play in a preseason game that you could scout. -

It's going to be a strange year for NFL roster management. Rookies will get less time to learn an offense and no preseason games to showcase their abilities. Teams will have little to evaluate of other team's roster cuts. It will be a 5 day process to bring a new player on to an active roster or PS. Chances are greater that teams keep their own players and lesser that they bring outsiders in. PS players are more important than ever before. -

He had 2 at his hands that he did not secure before a db made a pbu. I do not think either was a drop. There were others where Duke was nearest to an uncatcable / throwaway pass. He also made a difficult catch that was called back on a holding penalty. This is all to say that he made some nice plays, was a physical presence but left difference making plays on the field. Most everyone on the roster had a similar game. -

I like his story and the type of player he is. He should be way ahead of rookies and his body type is only matched by Davis. I am sure that if the Bills do waive him they'd love to stash him on the PS. WRs get hurt all the time in normal years and Duke would be a great to have as an option to move to the active roster in 2020. -
Stefon Diggs contract has been “tweaked”
JESSEFEFFER replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sort of similar to the Antonio Brown story, I'd think the Bills would want to push back against the Ross Tucker story if it;'s a widely held view. It would not play well in the locker room. It's much better to say that the Bills kept their agreement than that they caved to a negotiation ploy. They are headed toward some really important negotiations in the next few years. -

Ross Tucker had a "Tucker's Take" where he referenced tweets from "numerous AFL" insiders that claimed the timing was due to Diggs threatening to opt out. He seems to believe it. Diggs using the COVID-19 opt out option as leverage and the Bills caving or the Bills honoring an agreement made ~5 months ago and could only make it official the day before the opt out deadline? That's a huge difference in the narrative. -
Another Bills reporter trying to make himself the story
JESSEFEFFER replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was a weak, tepid, apolitical response to to generally weak, overly simple question. If the answer MLJ wanted to hear needed to be political to be "acceptable" then it should not have been asked. He probably hoped for a response that was more profound but Fromm given the time he had to reflect on it but Jake is not in a position to be a lightning rod for anything. MLJ will be on OBL after commercial and it's likely to come up. -
2020 Josh Allen scouting report
JESSEFEFFER replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He played well in the RZ and 4th quarter without throwing a pick in those situations. He was a strong road performer as well. I think that, collectively, it's a good sign. That can be a sterile stats thing but that can also be a scouting observation. It can be a result of how he is wired as a competitor. -
I think this answers the Ginger or Mary Ann question for anyone on the fence.

2019 Season: A Twitter Follow I Recommend
JESSEFEFFER replied to JESSEFEFFER's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If there is any passing play of Allen's 2019 season this is the best resource I know of to go and get them. Separarte threads for each game, dropped passes, converted 10+ 3rd downs, best throws/runs etc. This guy did what I suspect is huge amount of work to put these all in one place. It seems to be a mixture of TV broadcast clips and the All 22 versions of each pass play. If you have no reason to ever want to view any of them for any reason that's your right. Some here continue to hash out issues of accuracy, drops, decision making, and pass protection. Here is a go to place to review any of that and I thought there would be members here that might appreciate it. -

This thread of posted video clips shows his 18 3rd and 10+ first down conversions. 17 were via the pass (10 from the pocket and 7 outside) and 1 via the run. This number apparently led the NFL. Most show what a power arm, often combined with great mobility, can produce. Clips of 3rd and 10+ Conversions -
2019 Season: A Twitter Follow I Recommend
JESSEFEFFER replied to JESSEFEFFER's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
QBs miss throws and WRs drop them. I think you can see some trends. Knox with All QBs make poor throws or misreads. All pass catchers peak for defenders or misjudge the time and space they have to work with. I think Beasley does not track the ball well over his shoulder. He doesnt often run routes that require him to do it, maybe for good reason. Knox and Singletary had so little collegiate passing game experience. Hopefully they make big improvements this year. It would make the offense so much better. 400+ points or bust! -
2019 Season: A Twitter Follow I Recommend
JESSEFEFFER replied to JESSEFEFFER's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here is the "dropped" pass thread: Compilation of 2019 Dropped Passes This has often been a point of debate. Some have the (knee jerk, imo) view of "poor ball placement" or " thrown too hard." They are all (according to Stathi) here for some review. -
He has attempted to Tweet every nonspike Josh Allen throw of 2019. He has compiled separate threads that showcased the balls that might be considered drops, some of his best runs, etc. If there is some play you might wish to review, he has probably documented it, usually from two angles.
