  1. Looked him up. Lost his dad to COVID a year ago. Has Offers from Marshall, Virginia and Maryland as of February. Wants to study engineering and looks to aim higher with visits to ND, Penn State planned.
  2. It's a story within the context of how the game is played. Over it's history, Highmark/New Era/The Ralph/Rich Stadium must be one of the toughest places to kick/throw/catch the ball in the entire NFL. In the last game we saw 2 botched kick returns, a misplayed punt return, a blocked kick into the wind and two Chris Boswell missed FGs.
  3. Josh mentioned being hit in the chin. We (I?) never saw a camera angle from the other side of the play. So, that may be a difference. They will have to treat these calls like the NCAA treats targeting. They need the option to review them because they are often game changers.
  4. So much subjectivity to these things but throws that are made when one or more free pass rushers are bearing down on him deserve an extra bit of appreciation. Some QBs will turtle before the hit is made, some back pedal (it hurts less) but fail to put enough on the throw (ex. Lamar 8 days ago) or maybe the bravest will stand there and take the hit to make a play. Josh steps into the hit as he slides forward to deliver a good throw. Not many do that.
  5. Tom Brady Gets Call--Say It Isn't So Noteworthy to me is how important it was in the outcome, Jerome Bogar made the call and the technique used is perfect. In order to avoid the landing on the QB with full body weight, defenders are taught to "gator roll." Wrap the QB and roll so as to land to the side of the QB and not on top of him. This rolling maneuver does result in a spiraling to the ground effect as a natural result of the rotation. I guess Bogar wants the defender to rotate just enough so that the QB, or maybe just Brady, will land on top of the defender and thereby have a softer landing.
  6. Looked to me like AJ was hauled down by his facemask on an inside pass rush move. The OL proceeded to fall on top him. AJ was jawing with Hussey thereafter about the no call. The back and forth was such that AJ probably did not like the man putting his hands on him as he was leaving the scrum. You may be right about the ref getting after AJ with some intent to provoke a reaction.
  7. If a punch at the ball lands from top down, there is a good chance it is coming out. I did not notice this until the video posted above. One of the Ravens' defenders puts his hands to his helmet and I assumed it was because the tackle was even made. Maybe he saw how close it was to the ball coming out.
  8. I went to this one for the first time in many years. Cole was drilling the out the breaking routes for completions on a windy day but not so much to the other areas of the field. Radio announcer in postgame said the fumble was a bad ruling since it was an obvious forward pitch attempt and to me it seemed he was crushed during a deep ball atempt that made it come up short and get picked. Receivers Marshall and Williams look like they will tear MAC secondaries apart. Dolac was all over the place and stood out to me more than Patterson. You do not get very many quality replays on the scoreboard so it's likely that viewers of the game on ESPN+ or U got much better views to form opinions.
  9. Cover with the free hand when under tackle especially with a wet ball.. Bad, bad, bad.
  10. Random flight path of tipped ball impossible to read.
  11. Ball was tucked, move completed.
  12. The NFL makes many policies that are intended to keep a competitive balance between teams. On OBL it was stated that the Bills could have only used those Cool Zone misting systems if Miami had chosen to use them first. Sort of the situation where if one team loses communication to the field the other has to shut it down too. But if the ambient temperature is 90 on one side and 115 on the other, how is that maintaining a competitive balance? I would think the NFLPA would weigh in.
  13. I do not think they would overrule the call because they are inclined not to but Gabe had two feet down, brought the ball to his chest with both hands, took his right hand off the ball in a stiff arm sort of move, and kept the ball tucked to his chest with his left hand until the defender chopped it out. The secured, tucked position is enough to complete the process of the catch as I highlighted in the section of the rule that you posted. I heard some talk of the third step but it is just one example of the an "act common to the game." The officials "wanting to see a third step" was mentioned in the Monday night game.
  14. There is no quantitative time component to completing the process. Two steps with the ball and the ball is tucked to the chest when the defender makes the play on it. I would like to see the complete play from more angles but the steps and the tuck should be all is needed. I would like to hear an official breakdown but I agree the challenge is likely not to go their way.
  15. Not a drop if defender chopped it out. Gabe did enough, two steps, tucked to his chest and TD. Defender's action came after TD criteria was met and was therefore irrelevant.
  16. Watching Coach Dorsey go into a tantrum meant I didn't feel the need to do so. He did it better and with more violence than I could.
  17. How often does he who whiffed on the block recover the fumble.
  18. Do not, do not, do not take the play clock down to zero for the snap.
  19. I, for one, am happy to know that my team has a worldwide following. In my part of the world, there was a heavy influx of Swedes in the mid 19th century followed by Italians at the start of the 20th. For generations these groups did not get along very well and were mutually hostile. Within the last week, we have had a Swedish fan visit for the Titans game and now an Italian poster to TBD. Ironic to me. We have even seen support for the Bills within members of the Ukrainian armed forces. All this way too cool (American English slang meaning personally pleasing) regardless of some less refined grammar. A proper, more modern American title for your thread would be "Josh Allen is a Cheat Code" and I agree with your premise 100%.
  20. Good points. That 4th and 1 play was that funky pitch play that Cam Sutton blew up.
  21. I think we are so accustomed to seeing Josh with the scruffy facial hair, that the clean shaven face of Josh Allen is a throwback to his much rawer QB play of 2018. A fine starting point but a version we do not wish to see again. Sort of like seeing your kids baby pictures and recalling all the diaper changes, Happily done with that.
  22. Interesting thought. Only the Titans play where Simmons beat Dawkins and stuffed Josh comes to mind. I should consider that here were more. Close games in the NFL usually turn on QB play or the PK. Josh and TBass were not to blame for that 0 and 6 record in one score games, imo. It has me wondering if there was any root cause at all.
  23. I was thinking similarly. If so, their mastery of English is much further along than my Italian. My four years of high school Spanish taken over 40 years ago does not get me very far. Now, if the OP is the product of a proud but inebriated Italian American Bills' Mafioso, then let the fun begin.
  24. My favorite Bills look. All the colors are featured and are visually distinct much like the Orioles great Friday home uniform with orange on black tops, black belt, and white pants with a thin orange stripe. Both these combos look great during daytime but become even more vibrant for night games.
  25. Looks like we are open the season losing the gameday weather roulette again. I recall that last year some were answering the "Bills gameday weather has been crappy" complaint of the STHs with "It's WNY, what do you expect." The point was that the gameday conditions were consistently the worst of the 5 day window. Patrick Hammer is saying on WGR now that the worst of it will clear by 4PM.
