  1. Well, it must be Lynch. Peters just declared himself as good as he was last year. I believe him, because there is no reason for him to be in denial. Especially since he is already in denial about doing the right thing by holding out. Then, there is that renegotiation of his contract looming. Jauron, who never calls out an active player, is not going to say different, and we have no "prima donnas" on the team that would point the finger at him. So the bottom line is we should get rid of Lynch and Jackson. Maybe Willis would like to return, since he is not doing well in Baltimore and he doesn't spend the off-season training there. Must be the restaurants and women in Baltimore that are not good enough for him. Remember when Shaun Alexander was "all world" running back at Seattle? His Pro Bowl guard went to Minnesota and his running stats went south. Even an elite running back cannot crank out 100 yard games if he doesn't have holes to run through. Pay close attention to those end zone shots of our running plays. You'll see that to gain yards, our runners have to squeeze between our own guys then drag defenders for a few yards. Fred sometimes can make himself "small" enough to do it. Marshawn bulls into the crowd and still manages to fall forward almost every time. These guys should sue the O-line for lack of support.
  2. Honest doctor, I feel okay on Wednesdays, but here's what happened my last eight Sundays: 9/7 - The season's first game and it didn't go down to a last second loss. I was so elated, I threw away my Broncos and Cowboys dolls. (I had used up all my pins on them, anyway.) 9/14 - I had a dream that we made a spectacular comeback and beat an inferior team. I knew it wasn't real, but I wanted to believe so badly, that I just stayed in bed for two days on an emotional roller coaster. There are more than 432,000 holes in my bedroom ceiling tiles. 9/21 - I had that same dream again, but this time I believed it was true. I celebrated through the night and woke up the next morning in an alley in St. Louis. A man came by and asked me if I was interested in coaching an NFL team. 9/28 - I was in a state of depression. People kept telling me that the Bills were 4 & 0. I couldn't stop wondering why they were being so cruel to lie to me like that. What had I done to make them hate me so? 10/5 - "Top of the world. ma," the Bills really were 4 & 0. Then they played the game and I spent the afternoon calling the Suicide Prevention Center Hotline. They kept putting me on hold. 10/12 - I spent that entire week praying at the Concussion Shrine of Trent (Green that is). But the news came that the Bills' Trent's headaches had subsided. So I lit a few candles in appreciation for my prayers being answered. Okay. more than a few. Luckily the fire was contained before it got to my livingroom. 10/19 - Trent's head was okay, the whole Bills team was more than okay. I was so giddy, I sold everything I had and plunged it all into the stock market. So from now on I am writing to you from my aunt's computer. 10/26 - I am devastated. Immediately after the game ended, a lady from the Suicide Prevention Center called me before I could look up her number. She told me... "don't even think about it." I felt a little better. Then she continued by saying, "just do it." So doc, what I want to know, is do I have a split personality or am I just suffering from staphococcus billsdisappointedus? I can't just stay in bed for a few days. My bedroom ceiling tiles are all blackened and I can't count the holes anymore.
  3. Perhaps he was trying to get by the fat asses laying on the ground, blocking his way.
  4. Agreed. I played the tape of Peters and Dockery being split apart for that sack, three times. How can almost 700 pounds of millionaire on the hoof be pushed aside by one smaller dude, and not even slow him down enough for him to arrive at the QB too late? I don't think Peters returned to the lineup. He's been kidnapped and they inserted a eunich in his place so no one would know. Pay the ransom, Ralph!
  5. Great post! Funny, with some good points.
  6. I'm with you, brother. We need a center and a defensive end. Simeon might be good for one more year.
  7. Are you crazy? He has started the equivalent of one year. Give him some slack. Let's remember that his game wasn't that bad. It wasn't his best game, but an interception came on a deflected ball, and the supposed fumble on the sneak was a bad call by the refs. His forward progress was stopped, then Porter grabbed the ball. It should have been "first down Bills." Yes, we lost because of turnovers, just as the Chargers lost to us last week for the same reason. But no one plays spectacular every game and Trent still completed around 60% of his passes.
  8. Royal is showing why there was so much interest in Gonzalez, and why the Bills drafted Shouman and Fine. They know they have to replace him, but have yet to find the right guy. Good tight ends don't grow on trees.
  9. That's interesting. Six games ago, almost everyone was saying this is a "make or break year for Jauron." I guess the verdict is "make."
  10. That's interesting. Six games ago, almost everyone was saying this is a "make or break year for Jauron." I guess the verdict is "make."
  11. Moments ago, Warren Sapp (on NFL Gameday Morning) predicted that "if the Bills win today, they are going to the Super Bowl." All is forgiven Warren. But send me some of whatever you have been drinking. It's too early to tell if we are going to the playoffs.
  12. It's obvious that meddlesome owners like Jones screw things up at times, but greed usually wins more than loses. Regarding Wade, he is definitely a good coach. You don't get two different teams to the playoffs, no matter how much talent they have, unless you are a good head coach. Look at all the examples we have seen of talented clubs that couldn't achieve what was expected of them. It happens every year. In some of those instances, it is the head coach's fault. I can't believe I'm taking this position, because I never liked Phillips being HC of the Bills.
  13. The owners would never let him into the club after he was bounced off of the night games job.
  14. Your only problem is believing a poster on another board. Don't you know the guys on this board are the only ones you can trust?
  15. "Real" team rules: You might be a real team (with apologies to the "red neck" bit) if you have receivers on your squad who spend more time coming up with a bizarre end zone celebration than they do trying to figure out why they drop balls. You might be a real team if your owner buys several "name" players each year to stock a juggernaught playoff team that the analysts get excited about in May. Even if they fall flat on their face in December. You might be a real team if your stadium has a mobile roof that can shade luxury boxes while allowing the elements to send more than three regular ticketholders to the hospital. You might be a real team if you pick up a few felons after other teams drop them, just to keep your club in the news. You might be a real team if you have a few stars who can intimidate refs to not call them for obvious penalties. But you are not a real team if all three components of your team (offense, defense, special teams) make a significant contribution to winning games. If that happens, you are a "cinderella" team and announcers predict weekly that you are going to unravel. it's more fun rooting for cinderella to "go to the ball." Go Bills!
  16. Is there a cricket game being played in the U.S. as revenge for us sending the Chargers and Saints to London? LOL
  17. Thanks for taking the time to give such thorough thought to the subject... and the courage to run the gauntlet with so many points to be responded to. I agree with a number of your points, but have different opinions about a few: 1. I believe the center position needs upgrading more than fullback. I keep looking at film of inside runs where the FB comes to the line with no hole to blast into, just the rear end of our bunched up guys. 2. Whether the Bills draft a quarterback or not, their priority in this position will be to sign a veteran QB who will be a valuable mentor and be comfortable serving as a back up. Unless Edwards' career goes south because of injury (or something else), the team has to assume he is their guy for the years ahead and plan accordingly. 3. I agree that we need help at defensive end. Schobel has already peaked and Kelsey and Denney are good but not great. IF (a big "if") Stroud stays healthy, he probably has a couple of good years left, allowing us to concentrate on DE first.
  18. I don't dislike Mort. But he is kind of like third string to guys like Boomer, Jackson, Jaworski, Schefter and a few others. Then there is the second eschelon of analysts (mostly former stars). Mort's comments appear to be unresearched and therefore loaded with errors. It's like he's just trying to hold onto the job, but his heart really isn't into it.
  19. You're right. That's a scary thought. If the Bills had won a couple more games, it might have been five more years before we got rid of Donahoe. Actually, he was a fair judge of talent, but that doesn't trump a good judge of talent (Levy) who works with his staff to come up with the best choices. No one is right all the time, but Donahoe's success rate was impaired because he was such a dictator. And he compounded the problem by hiring coaches who would never be strong enough to challenge him, like Bill Cowher did. When Cowher won the power struggle between them, Donahoe became "damaged goods" that would never be as effective again. Unfortunately, Wilson did not realize that.
  20. I assume you were joking about jarthru31's football acumen. It is impossible for Mitchell to have "left his post early because Rivers never took his eyes off of Gates." There isn't time to determine that and still leave your post early. I believe Mitchell, that he saw the formation and recognized it as the play they practiced defending. That's why he made the adjustment and the play.
  21. A lot can happen between now and April. For example, we thought we were set with Crowell at linebacker. But I agree with you; we need a better center. Either by the draft, free agency or trade, we must improve that position if we expect the O-line to be good. Fowler and Preston are not good enough to do that job effectively without help. We are wasting a lot of talent at running back until the O-line is solid. The Bills have brought in a lot of young defensive backs. We can't be sure how good they can be yet. At least another year is needed. In the meantime, drafting more is not the way to go. After center, the other talent that I feel we need is a superior pass rusher. A star DE or LB that will make teams alter their offensive blocking schemes.
  22. Leodis looked like the Jets' Revis was last year. He'll be fine with more playing time. Careful not to read too much into one decent game by Preston. He hasn't been a consistent starter for a reason. The D-line played well, but I don't know if they can keep up the pace without Schobel in the rotation. (Remember last year when they had a short rotation?)
  23. You're right. I'm in Orlando and nobody even mentions the Rays.
  24. I agree. But still, I have gotten more than a few laughs from the remarks posted here.
