  1. The whole situation is typical of how the Bills mishandle players. Roscoe's mistakes cost us less games than Jauron's coaching f-ckups. Not even close. He is a great return man and a passable little receiver. It's not like they can't afford to tie up a roster spot for a kick returner. We have roster spots being manned by guys who belong in the stands, selling beer.
  2. True. And Ralph never forgave Bill Polian for building an elite team right under his nose. So he fired him.
  3. When the Bills drafted Hardy, they failed to realize that in college he just ran down field and tried to outleap the defender. It worked well for his college years, but it was obvious that he had trouble getting separation and running crisp routes in the NFL. I wonder if the year off included some route running coaching by the Bills' staff?
  4. Glad to see you've come out of the closet. Now if you could just get rid of that chip on your shoulder...
  5. Don't know the answer, but they are both class acts.
  6. You're right. On Halloween night a kid came up to my door dressed as Flutie. I gave him the whole bowl of candy, but he refused to forgive the Bills.
  7. It's sad. Sanders is one of the best. Being a star in the NFL starts with ability but is dependent upon health.
  8. CSI has determined that this thread was started by Dick Jauron.
  9. Last night I had a dream that being a Bills fan is like being in the movie The Wizard of Oz. I was one of the poor schmucks walking up the hallway in the wizard's castle. (Maybe I was the "this is the last strawman.") We got to the big room and the Bills' mascot opened the curtain to reveal that there really was no wizard; just an old man. He confessed, saying "I'm not a bad man, just a bad football owner." It really pissed me off, because in our earlier visit he promised to make our team a contender if we brought back the camcorder of the wicked coach of New England. Anyway, in the end, he tried to tell me I was smart by handing me a rolled-up piece of paper. It was a season ticket renewal form. I woke up screaming.
  10. Geez... I hope you're wrong. If any of the players read this tripe they would be on strong medicine for depression. Speaking of depression, I need to get a new picture of Ralph. There are so many dart holes in the current one that I can no longer tell if it's him or not. As far as the Rosenhaus comments, he is just doing his job (even though I think he is the scum of the earth). Any fan not in denial has known since T.O. was signed that his strategy is to clean up his act before signing with a pro team next year. Rosenhaus is trying to cover for his cash cow as much as possible.
  11. You don't understand. T.O. is being punished by the 31 teams for being an a--hole and team cancer for all those years. He is being given a T.O. time out by playing in Buffalo. No one will sign him until he has finished eating his humble pie. Ralph was placating the fans (and their rising anger) by bringing in T.O. for a season. Sadly, it worked. The revolution never happened and so it's business as usual for another year. Stay tuned: Next year's false hope will be coaching changes.
  12. Good post. I enjoyed a chuckle at that. You know how you knew exactly where you were and what you were doing when something huge happens? Well, I was in a restaurant and spilled my Southern Comfort manhattan when the Bills passed on drafting Dan Marino. Instead, they took a tight end who was forgotten by all two years later.
  13. Millen would be perfect. We could make a run at the most consecutive losses record.
  14. Some excellent points. Want more evidence? Think about the Marv Levy move. Ralph asks his old friend Marv to do him a favor and be GM for a couple of years. His mission was to win back the fans after the Donahoe disaster. But just to be sure Marv didn't get caught up in the ferver to build another contender, he immediately instituted two rules: Ralph must approve all moves - and - "Cash to the Cap." Those who blame Marv should keep this in mind. With his teeth removed, all he could accomplish was to improve communications and good will inside and outside the organization. Not the performance we wanted, but as good as Brandon's in Ralph's eyes. And please don't come back with he should have fought the policies. Do you do that at work?
  15. Take your pick: A = Polian's star was rising. Time for a big pay raise or the door. B = Friction with the money guy. Hmmmm... It is interesting to note that after Bill left we stopped paying high prices for keeping/acquiring star players. C = The man was raising fan expectations to the point of ridiculous. Field a competitive team every year? Absurd!
  16. Funny that you should mention it. Last month's rumor about Ralph considering a cheerleader for the next HC is gaining momentum. Missy (last name not available) has several qualifications that makes her a strong candidate: 1. She would work for minimum wage. 2. No prior experience as an NFL head coach. 3. Would agree to work with all others in the organization who are currently under contract (no expensive firings allowed). 4. Promises never to say anything noteworthy at an interview or press conference. 5. Actually, since she is currently working as a volunteer (pom pom waver), she will work for less than minimum wage. 6. Believes everything that Ralph tells her. 7. Has already been practicing being highly enthusiastic about the team's personnel each Spring. 8. Is willing to spend most draft picks on defensive backs. 9. Has intimated that she would work without pay if asked, just for the positive experience and the impressive addition to her resume. 10. Has several friends that could fill vacated assistant coaching positions if needed.
  17. You're missing the point. There are muliple levels of Bills fans. The top eschalon of fans follow the Bills blindly, seeking any morsel of optimism they can find and deluding themself each spring into thinking that the team just might have a great year. You may be one of those, but it is not for me to say. The second fan group is a huge sector of the population that has invested time, energy, emotion and money into their fanship and... they feel they deserve the right to B word if they are not getting their money's worth. Whether you like it or not, The Bug, and anyone else who shares that opinion should be as welcome in this forum as you are. Rule #673 of the Fanatics' Manual says "if you have gotten drunk out of frustration for your team's ineptness more than 50 times, you do not have to be told to LOVE US OR LEAVE US."
  18. 4-12? Do we get to play Tampa Bay again?
  19. Why not let T.O. have Fridays off? He takes every other Sunday off.
  20. I can't believe that several responders think it actually happened. Funny thread - well done.
  21. You're right. If Tom Brady had played as our QB this season, we would be saying that he just couldn't recover from that serious injury and now his career is over. Wake up, folks! Each of the Bills players would look much better in a better run organization. Correction: Each previous Bills player does look better when playing for another organization. Even Mike Williams is doing okay.
  22. So true. But why would anyone want the Bills to get a top draft pick?
  23. Agreed. If you look at the overall record of Bobby April as a Bills coach, you see that he has had one of the best special teams records in the league when allowed to keep players together. His groups falter when they are torn apart by the movement of players through the system (i.e. because of injuries or youth movements). Do you honestly expect a squad with a high turnover of players to be any good?
  24. An excellent point. IMO there are two psychologies that influence what is happening on the field with this team: 1. Your point about the acceptability of failure throughout the organization. 2. The fact that when losing occurs so often, players lose confidence in winning. As a result, they do not play with passion, and either are afraid to take risks (i.e. Trent Edwards) or take unneccessary risks (McKelvin) to try to make something spectacular happen.
