Rumors: Jauron to NYG, T.O. to SF
BillsfaninFl replied to Craiger93's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jauron & Coughlin - So that's where he learned to never smile in public. T.O. to SF - Maybe he left his heart there. -
True, but credit must also be given to the guys that mean to be funny. The members of this board are often creative and genuinely humorous. I enjoy the puns, sarcasm, and the occasional silliness that lightens things up. My thanks to the guys that throw a little humor into the threads. It helps.

How can that be? Your posts are always five words or less.

This is like a TV soap opera. The conversations move so slowly, you could miss a week and still be up-to-date with what is happening (being discussed). Fewell chose to hang his star on Fitz. He doesn't want to play Brohm. Trent will only play if Fewell gives up on Fitz or the guy gets injured. End of story. How many times are we going to bicker about something that is a done deal? OBD has implied that this is the plan. As much as I am tired of the continuous stumping for various elite head coaches to take over the Bills, at least the comments and suggestions are about things that are possible (no matter how improbable).

Tough crowd on this board. Turn on each other faster than a snowball melts in hell. Byrd is a ball hawk and it is refreshing to watch him work. I hope he keeps it up. He'll have a great career. I understand the comments made about Poz and Whitner not achieving the high expectations commensurate with the position where they were drafted. I'm just not comfortable with them taking all the blame for it. This team is down. When they win, it is because they play a team that is comatose, or looking ahead to their next game (Dolphins). They are not confident. They play hard at times and coast at other times. That doesn't excuse them, but they can play better and they will under a different regime (if it's a better qualified one). I feel they deserve a pass until they succeed or fail with better coaching.

Lynch for Vick...Just a thought
BillsfaninFl replied to ProjectPat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I see. You think we should pick up a running QB that at his peak was not a good thrower, then use a thrid or fourth round pick to replace the running back we gave away. That might work if we have our QB of the future in house, and didn't need to fill in a ton of holes at OL, DL and LB. But in the team's present predicament, it seems like a couple of moves that do not really improve the team. -
Can we stop calling for Lynch to be traded now?
BillsfaninFl replied to BillsfaninFl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Same story with Jason Peters. Keep in mind that there are a lot of good players that are undrafted, now that they only go seven rounds. Years ago, several more rounds were used. -

No argument from me. I consider Fred our starting running back. -
Hey Senator...Did you see Peters tonight?
BillsfaninFl replied to Wilson from Gamehendge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Talk about beating a horse to death, there's nothing left to bury. I'm waiting for someone to start a post to list the all-time "left the Bills team." Please, let it go, they are gone and they won't even be sending us a Christmas card. -
Do people still think Desean Jackson is "too small"?
BillsfaninFl replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good point. The Bills needed a tall receiver who could outjump DBs in the red zone and increase our TD percentage there. They may or may not have made the best choice, but their logic was sound on that call. -

Parrish was never a bad receiver. He actually had several plays where he demonstrated how difficult he was to get after the catch. I wonder if he could have enjoyed the same success as Jackson in the right scheme. I still don't understand how he went from being the best return man in the league, to being a nonentity. There is more to that story than a few miscues. -
Harrison was one of the dirtiest players in the league and now he is a commentator on the NFL channel. I can't wait until he is watching a play and points out that it was a "cheap shot." I expect a lightning bolt to blast him out of his chair.

What is wrong with the Steelers?

In other words, Swine Flew. That's when pigs will fly before your team goes on a winning streak. -
Idea for the QB situation next year
BillsfaninFl replied to BuffaloBlood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only problem with bringing in a guy in his declining years, is that he is more prone to injury than ever before. And if he already has a history of being hurt a lot, that's a recipe for disaster. Now place that guy behind a porous offensive line and run the computer model. Mine says he doesn't even make it through the preseason games. -
After last week, when Marshawn got his longest run of the season, people were still calling for his head on a platter. Today, he went out and pulled off the longest run (47 yards) the Bills had all season. He had 84 yards on only 12 carries. You need two good running backs on your team in today's NFL. We have them. It is the only position where we are rock solid. Why on earth would we want to get rid of one of them?

Out Of My 30 Plus Years Of Being A Fan
BillsfaninFl replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Remember the last time the Bills played a contender in a meaningless game at the end of the season? It was the Steelers. They didn't even keep their second stringers in the game very long. The third stringers looked like superstars and kicked our butt. So why look ahead and hope for a gift win? Next week we play a New England team that needs the win to stay ahead of Miami and the Jets. One masochistic experience at a time, please. After we blow that game, then I'll start thinking about what's next. -
Where can I get some of the hallucinogens ingested by some members of this board? That's not a knock, I want to be as hopeful as some of you are. But every time I try to tell myself "that is a good sign for the future," the right brain gives me several reasons why I am deluding myself. Just watched Miracle on 34th Street. Could there actually be a miracle at one bills drive? There I go again.

Another drop in the draft order.
BillsfaninFl replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey! Where is your pride. At least we won the Pathetic Bowl. -
Any change in uniforms should make a statement. What statement is most appropriate for the Bills? * Make the buffalo (bison) on the helmet all black, to indicate that the current team is but a shadow of its former glory. * Instead of names and numbers, just put the general position on the back. That way, it would be less noticeable that we keep changing players all season long. "Offensive Lineman," "Linebacker," "Defensive Back," etc. * Use all spandex uniforms, so the guys look in better shape than they are. * All signage with the word "Buffalo" should be changed to "Regional." * Wait for another team to change their uniforms, then buy their old ones and add patches with our players names. The savings will be significant and it will send a clear message that any player expecting more money might as well pack their bags now.

I agree. If we are going to stop this cycle of always being in a rebuilding mode, we need to get a few top young stars* to jump start the team. Forget getting 10 draft choices. A few quality players will help us more than several who are equal to the guys we have now. * I know there is no such thing as a "sure thing" in the NFL, but the Bills need to plunk their money down on a few stars, between the draft and free agency. This team needs an injection of talent that will make everyone play better. It won't mean instant success, but it would mean much more competitive (and entertaining) games. And that could lead to good things the next year.
-
The trend continues. During the last four years, the Bills have put more players on IR than any other team (cumulative total).

Once again the Patriots management is snickering after suckering in another team. Matt Cassel comes in to replace Brady and is fantastic. He's a diamond in the rough, he's a sure hall of famer, he's just another guy who looks really good when surrounded by a team that is really good. Buffalo rolled out the red carpet when we got Bledsoe from NE. When other teams figured out that the Bills were one dimensional (throw, throw, throw), suddenly he and the team couldn't beat anyone. My point is, if you flip the coin to the other side, we unjustly call a number of our players not good enough to be in the NFL, when they may be so much better if surrounded by a strong team, subjected to efficient coaching and game planning, and/or used in a manner that showcases their abilities. In addition to the stars we have let get away, there are a number of players we have cast off, who are doing well elsewhere. It's hard to judge the performance of individuals when the whole organization is lacking.

Patriots mascot arrested in sex sting
BillsfaninFl replied to GaryPinC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ESPN already carried this. They showed the guy being brought out in cuffs, still wearing his mascot garb. I laughed until I realized the person behind him in line was wearing a blue bison suit. Man the Patriots have our number in every way possible. But I have a plan to end this painful streak of losses. Remember the M.A.S.H. movie football game, where they injected the guys when they were on the ground after a tackle? I'm thinking about nothing deadly, perhaps a strong laxative would be good. I'll bet Evans is fast enough that he could even run out of bounds and stick a syringe in Belicheat without the hooded genius knowing it. Of course, if you sit behind the visitors' bench, be sure to bring a filter mask to the game. -
So true. Head Coaches are not always motivated to do what is best for the team's future. Especially if they are on the bubble (trying to save or acquire a head coaching job). Regarding Steve, I don't remember which Pro Football Weekly reporter wrote it, but when writing about the Bills last year, one of them said the sleeper on this team who could be great is Johnson. For what it's worth.
