I know that there are no guarantees that drafted players will succeed in the NFL, but how can the Bills management show their face in public after drafting several players too small to continue to play their college position in the pros. Someone has obviously been obsessed with theory of having speedy little defensive guys like those who were successful on Dungy coached teams. The flaw in the strategy is that they didn't have Dungy to make it work.

I remember a TV discussion on the performance of NFL referees years ago, when one commentator was suspicious that referees favor teams and stars that are at the top of the league. He suggested more strict scrutiny by the league and bringing in new referees from the college ranks. The other commentator responded with "do you realize that several of the NFL referees are CEOs of companies?" The more I thought about that statement, the more I kept thinking "I hope that doesn't mean what I think it means."

NFL to Ask Players to Donate Brains for Study
BillsfaninFl replied to Bleed Bills Blue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tsk, tsk, tsk. Your post is funny, but you are aiming too low. How about if we have Ralph Wilson's brain replaced with Mike Singletary's? Not only will Wilson suddenly be sincere when he says he wants to win it all, but the young brain might keep him alive for another decade or two. No, it wouldn't be fair to iron Mike. -

Nothing leaves the body absolutely sterile. Have you heard the term urinalysis? It is done thousands of times daily in the U.S., then cultured to see what nasty germs it contains. And it isn't just to find out if the person has a urinary tract infection. Ask someone who has been found to have blood in their urine what caused it. -
What you are saying is exactly what fans were saying last year. So they signed T.O. and the sheep went back into the barn to be sheered again. It will happen again because people want desperately to have their NFL team. Ralph counts on it every year. It is abuse on a grand scale. Yet there are some who believe him when he implies major changes. Having said that, I want to believe him, too. That makes me not too bright, and just another sheep. Oh well, 'tis the season to be merry, so to all, fleece navidad.

I can't say I'm confident that Fewell could do the job well. He has shown Jauron-type flaws. I wish we knew what actually happened as decisions were being made about personnel. I know we never will, because NFL management and coaches know what all executives in big corporations know. If you rat out on the leadership, even after you leave the organization, you are "dead" (careerwise). Other top bananas will never trust you. Is the problem that Wilson has not allowed these guys the power to do their job (decisions, money, etc.)? Or is it that Ralph has hired badly numerous times? Either way, Wilson is the problem, but it would tell us how much blame rests with the rest of the staff.

There is no next time. The voodoo master who stuck a pin in the Fitz doll, then stuck a pin in the Trent doll, forgot to add some balls to the Fewell doll. Fewell, who was two weeks too late trying to spark the offense by changing QBs, said that's why he sent in Edwards, then chickened out during the next series when he could have sent in Brohm. I doubt if he was worried about not being able to send Fitz back in. Apparently he was one of the few people who didn't know that Fitz could not beat the Patriots. Even the guy selling beer in the stands knew it before the game started.
-
I would say send it in. This is a silly argument that has surfaced many times. Some say hire someone now and others say we cannot hire anyone currently employed in the NFL. I don't really see this as an argument, just a misunderstanding. To the first group I say, there is no urgency because we will not be hiring someone that anyone else wants. To the second group, don't worry, it is unlikely we will hire anyone currently employed by the NFL. We are not getting a well qualified GM or coach. It will be from elsewhere. I think Chalkie has a shot at either job, if he agrees to a pay cut from what he is currently doing.

Trust me, urine is not sterile. It can kill some harmful germs, but it can also transmit harmful germs. But, if someone did p*ss in the sink, it is unlikely to do any harm because people do not fill the bowl to wash their hands. They soap and rinse off their hands using the stream of water coming from the faucet. Meanwhile, the p*ss would travel to the same place that the urinals empty into. Of course, if a drunk misses the sink and hits the lever for the soap dispenser, that would be unhealthy... but still impressive. -

LOL Doing so, might be dangerous. -
Yes, all those guys and Edwards deserved better. Perhaps better IS leaving the Bills. But while I empathize with the players, I can't help feeling that THE BILLS FANS DESERVE BETTER, too. Hell, we all have rooted for the team for years (between 1 and 50), spent over a billion dollars on tickets, food, beverages, parking, NFL apparel and souvenirs, and the building and maintenance of a stadium. We have suffered through more losses than wins during the team's existence, a number of prolonged periods where the team has been poorly managed, a ton of games where we froze our azz in the stadium (thanks to cutting costs by failing to build a dome), a constant stream of "spin" answers to questions proving we are not respected as being intelligent, and token changes designed to placate us whenever we have been on the verge of revolting. And oh, by the way, veiled threats that if we do not keep lining Ralph's pockets with gold, that the team may have to play more games away from Buffalo - perhaps all of them. The Bills' fans deserve better!

Denial alarm: 1. When you subtract the penalty yards from our offensive total, our net yards weren't even close to last week, the game some thought was one of our worst ever. 2. Don't be fooled just because the Patriots didn't score 30 points on us. It's hard to get revved up when you are about to play the team you have owned sine the new century started. 3. Just as a number of us have predicted, whenever an interim coach takes over, a team usually plays better for a few weeks, then runs for the bus. We could hear the bus motor warming up during the third quarter. 4. Well, those that thought there was a chance, (to beat NE, to make the playoffs, to improve our draft position, to get snowed in while in the parking lot) will have to come up with some other fanciful thing to explore. Perhaps it is time to discuss head coaching candidates again.

Are injuries a result of poor play?
BillsfaninFl replied to SpecialK15's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously, I think you make a good point. When players are so easily interchangeable because their skills are "average," it is not a prioroty to keep a roster spot open for them. Very few players (i.e. Poz, Lynch, Edwards, etc.) have been allowed to remain on the roster while healing. I know a nuimber of us have criticized those I just named, but the irganization considered them among our top players, so it makes sense. -
Wait! That's it! We have the clouds seeded over Orchard Park so that the game is played in a whiteout. Brady can't throw which makes he and Fitz equals, Welker and Moss can't catch and run which makes them equal to Evans and the rest (T.O. will be sniffling on the sidelines in a vicuna coat), and Belicheat will have to put his hood up which means he will only be able to see straight ahead. We'll have them right where we want them.

What makes you think Hangertner will be gone?

But you need a human to be sacrificed. I've never been in favor of the virgin sacrifices. Such a waste of sweet young things. How about someone near the end of their adventure. Say a 91 year old who is a pain in the butt?

Is Klopfenstein our MVP this year?
BillsfaninFl replied to Ennjay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not about his playing ability. Rumor has it he's not been on the field because they can't fit his name on the back of a jersey. -

And people say they are shaky. They don't have a chance against us. I wish we were shaky enough to have an 8-5 record. -
Classy Response from Incognito
BillsfaninFl replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fair enough. We'll see how he does during these last three games, and if he plays okay (and Mitchell doesn't get stabbed in an alleyway), then he might be someone to sign again. Anyone know how Incognito has to pay that $50,000 fine? Does it come out of future paychecks or does he have to come up with the money? -
I have this deja vu feeling that every three days someone starts this exact thread. Are we going to do this over and over until the end of April? My reasons for wishing the answer is "no:" 1. We have three more games to play. After that we will know who else has limbs fall off, and that will change the Bills' draft strategy. 2. Before the draft, the Bills will at least have a new head coach and maybe even a puppet GM. The new cadre might decide to cut half the guys on the squad. That will change the Bills' draft strategy. 3. Leading up to the draft, various players will convince the NFL talent evaluators to forget about what they accomplished during their college games, and instead move them up (or down) on their team boards because of a single good workout and/or an impressive interview at the combine. This will causes changes in the Bills' draft strategy. 4. There may be no agreement between the teams and the players' union. This will cause Ralph to scrap "Cash to the Cap" and announce a new budget policy: "Cash to 80% of the Cap." The Bills' draft strategy will be to trade down so that none of their picks will be in the first three rounds, but they will have fifteen choices.

Evans is the best WR we have. He hasn't had his number called enough. The guy runs good routes, is fast and has good hands. Unfortunately for him, he plays for an offense that usually scores only one touchdown against good teams.

If Holmgren is very interested in the job, that means he isn't hired yet. The rest of the story is BS. We already know Gruden is locked up for years to come as an analyst, and the rest of them are not exactly heavyweights. But it is a funny commentary. Of course, who can dispute what "numerous league executives" are saying? LOL
