  1. I watched "Girl in the Picture" last night. While it is a powerful story, I didn't really like it. The whole thing bummed me out. I don't think it was a well-constructed documentary though and definitely could have been a tighter package than the 1:50 run time.
  2. I think it was a powerful gut punch to Mike's character that Nacho's dad dismissed him as being the exact same as all the other thugs.
  3. Im a Roger Waters fan.... but yeah, thats a pretty bad take/look by him
  4. I actually felt the opposite. I thought it started off nicely with the aftermath, and petered out starting with Gus' odd wine tasting interaction. The weak part of the show for the last 3 seasons has been the Saul/Kim side of it. It lost a lot of its appeal when Chuck died. Its tough that the Salamanca/Gus thing is well wrapped up. It will be tough to pick this thing up for the last 4 episodes after the carnage/resolution of the middle of this season. Very interested in the post-Breaking Bad timeline though. That could be pretty intense. I also wonder what we have in store for the Breaking Bad timeline and if we are going to see some cool perspective and more depth on some of the events that directly occurred in that show. I thought the episode was going to end with Walt/Jesse's visit to Saul's office.
  5. Nothing is ground breaking so far... I do like hearing that the seats will be close/high. Think "The Aud" vs that UFO that is downtown now. You had high/steep/close seats and a nice overhang. The new arena grades way back, has little in the way of overhangs, and the result is many bad seats, poor sightlines, and far away from the action. If you are going to have 60,000 seats, they better all be on top of the action.
  6. I thought that the Bulls' big chance was if the Bills ended up leaving town. People might rush to create a lively tailgate scene and atmosphere to fill the void. Probably would be an ACC school now (not sure what that even gets you at this point).
  7. As far as the BB universe goes... it is crazy to see Mike bested at every turn by Lalo over the past season and a half-plus. Gus should be firing him. It made for great television though. Over many episodes, we are conditioned to expect Mike to have an uncanny ability to read every situation 6-steps ahead and out-wit everyone. Gus to a point as well. So Lalo constantly out-maneuvering them takes the audience for a ride.
  8. I always was attracted to the premise that the program was a few good seasons, some money influx, good visionary AD, and some local excitement away from breaking into (what was) a 'major' conference (meaning the AAC or CUSA in their earlier forms), which could make them more relevant on a national stage. As it is, they have had some good seasons and had good performances against Power-teams. Now, that seems to be dead. While they could have potentially joined with the Cincinnatis, the West Virginias, the Memphises, and the Houstons of the world. Now those teams have jumped up into the big boys. I would never delude myself that UB would be in the same conference as Clemson or Ohio State. MAC seems like a decent home for now. I guess with NIL, the fact that UB will not be a tenant at the new Bills' stadium, and the fact that they can never seem to get excitement/traction in the general public, UB would never take that next step at this point. Why hang on? Maybe a Mountain-West, Sunbelt, MAC, AAC, and CUSA playoff and separate ranking would be a fun and exciting thing? I remember Bucky Gleason took some heat for the idea... but I wonder if UB decided to scrap its football program and go all-in on Basketball, if they could possibly grow into the upper-class of basketball schools and join a major conference that way.
  9. Probably the best episode of anything ever
  10. I read up on Bitcoin. Fundamentally, it is interesting. As high profile wealth in the world started to move toward it, it seemed like it could be an actual thing. A huge premise of it is/was that it is relatively independent and free of typical economic swings associated with stock markets, real "fiat" currencies, etc. This latest crash really pokes a huge hole in that ship, and I'm not sure they can gain confidence back.
  11. So now it is all falling apart (or coming together depending on where you stand). I hate this. A big allure of NCAA Football to me (and to a lesser-extent, hoops), is the segmented regionalization and flavors of the different conferences and traditions. Now it is being lit on fire. Hopefully they get the new video game before it is ruined beyond repair, and provide the customization options to un-do the mess. Maybe im in the minority, but since all these shifts started happening, my interest and consumption of NCAA football has gone way down. To the point where I watch almost none of it at this point. Around 2010, I preferred NCAA to NFL.
  12. I remember a Patriots game the bills were hoping to compete in. Randy Moss caught a long ball out of bounds that the official said was complete. After pondering way too long, much longer than needed, jauron "threw" the red flag to challenge. By "threw", I mean barely moving, dropping it next to/behind his foot. Nobody saw it and the Patriots got the next play off. It's no wonder the bills folded.
  13. My idea was feeding them into a tree chipper
  14. WWE is unwatchable. I was a multiple-time per week watcher from about 1999 to 2005. AEW has me intrigued. I watched an episode and liked it. I just havent been motivated enough to go out of my way to watch it yet
  15. It wouldn't take a lot to set off a brushfire of incorrect info at this point on a platform like twitter.
  16. This was exactly it. Late-90s, the lease was expiring and there were some tough negotiations. The team was flailing a bit post-Superbowl years. They needed that whole business backs the bills thing and/or a certain level of commitment for the new premium club seats. Flutie came along and zapped everyone with energy as well as kindled a Canadian interest. They were able to hit their goals and got the new lease agreement. Fast forward to the mid/late 00s. Our owner, Ralph Wilson was at an advanced age. We do not have billionaires here so much. You sense the NFL would rather leave for richer pastures. The Bills outsourced a home game every season to Ted Rogers (basically Comcast of Canada). That was seen as a trial run for the NFL/Bills to eventually sell to Rogers and move to a humungous international city in Toronto. In about 2009, I gave the Bills about a 5% chance to remain in Buffalo for 5 years. Rogers passed away quickly after the deal, and they completely missed the boat on pricing and interest. Mr Wilson continued to plug along! The lease expired and Wilson did not want to sell the team while alive. They signed a new lease with cosmetic renovations with a heavy non-relocation agreement. Mr Wilson passed away before the paint was dry on the new renovations, which would make it very pricey to buy, relocate, pay the Non-relo price, and build a new stadium. Meanwhile, pegula came onto the scene locally, adopted the city, and bought the team basically with cash.
  17. I don't believe that story at all
  18. Assuming whatever addiction/fetish is a thing of the past
  19. People roll their eyes, but often-times, football players feel like they are treated like livestock. They are judged at the combine, drafted without their control, haggled with contracts, trades, franchised, fined, cut, etc. Then you get a player who takes a stand that gets some traction and some owners like Jerry Jones put them down. I believe McDermott's #1 and most important philosophy is that the players and staff are humans with families, thoughts, ideas, etc. A huge turning point was when McCoy chirped Trump. The team had a meeting where Im sure they were allowed to speak their minds and collectively decided what to do. They were allowed to protest while other owners and coaches were trying to stifle their players. Pegula wrote an anti-Trump letter to support the players as well, which probably wasnt easy for him. Another example was they allowed Beasley to speak his mind last year, even though some saw it as a possible distraction. I do not think McDermott (and the organization as a whole) is in the business of censoring players. They allow the leadership in the lockerroom to deal with things if needed. These men are adults. I know they do things together as families. I'm sure McDermott knows every player and staffer's wife/gf and kids' names. I believe they are up-front and professional with players when it comes to contracts and negotiations. All this goes a long way to stand out from many other places.
