Better Call Saul - final season April 18,2022
May Day 10 replied to davefan66's topic in Off the Wall
Probably the best episode of anything ever -
I read up on Bitcoin. Fundamentally, it is interesting. As high profile wealth in the world started to move toward it, it seemed like it could be an actual thing. A huge premise of it is/was that it is relatively independent and free of typical economic swings associated with stock markets, real "fiat" currencies, etc. This latest crash really pokes a huge hole in that ship, and I'm not sure they can gain confidence back.

USC and UCLA joining the Big Ten in 2024
May Day 10 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in College Football
So now it is all falling apart (or coming together depending on where you stand). I hate this. A big allure of NCAA Football to me (and to a lesser-extent, hoops), is the segmented regionalization and flavors of the different conferences and traditions. Now it is being lit on fire. Hopefully they get the new video game before it is ruined beyond repair, and provide the customization options to un-do the mess. Maybe im in the minority, but since all these shifts started happening, my interest and consumption of NCAA football has gone way down. To the point where I watch almost none of it at this point. Around 2010, I preferred NCAA to NFL. -
I remember a Patriots game the bills were hoping to compete in. Randy Moss caught a long ball out of bounds that the official said was complete. After pondering way too long, much longer than needed, jauron "threw" the red flag to challenge. By "threw", I mean barely moving, dropping it next to/behind his foot. Nobody saw it and the Patriots got the next play off. It's no wonder the bills folded.

WWE is unwatchable. I was a multiple-time per week watcher from about 1999 to 2005. AEW has me intrigued. I watched an episode and liked it. I just havent been motivated enough to go out of my way to watch it yet

It wouldn't take a lot to set off a brushfire of incorrect info at this point on a platform like twitter. -
Did Jim Kelly / Bruce Smith save the Bills?
May Day 10 replied to Zerovoltz's topic in The Stadium Wall
This was exactly it. Late-90s, the lease was expiring and there were some tough negotiations. The team was flailing a bit post-Superbowl years. They needed that whole business backs the bills thing and/or a certain level of commitment for the new premium club seats. Flutie came along and zapped everyone with energy as well as kindled a Canadian interest. They were able to hit their goals and got the new lease agreement. Fast forward to the mid/late 00s. Our owner, Ralph Wilson was at an advanced age. We do not have billionaires here so much. You sense the NFL would rather leave for richer pastures. The Bills outsourced a home game every season to Ted Rogers (basically Comcast of Canada). That was seen as a trial run for the NFL/Bills to eventually sell to Rogers and move to a humungous international city in Toronto. In about 2009, I gave the Bills about a 5% chance to remain in Buffalo for 5 years. Rogers passed away quickly after the deal, and they completely missed the boat on pricing and interest. Mr Wilson continued to plug along! The lease expired and Wilson did not want to sell the team while alive. They signed a new lease with cosmetic renovations with a heavy non-relocation agreement. Mr Wilson passed away before the paint was dry on the new renovations, which would make it very pricey to buy, relocate, pay the Non-relo price, and build a new stadium. Meanwhile, pegula came onto the scene locally, adopted the city, and bought the team basically with cash. -
I don't believe that story at all

Are players’ comments about the Bills’ culture typical?
May Day 10 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
People roll their eyes, but often-times, football players feel like they are treated like livestock. They are judged at the combine, drafted without their control, haggled with contracts, trades, franchised, fined, cut, etc. Then you get a player who takes a stand that gets some traction and some owners like Jerry Jones put them down. I believe McDermott's #1 and most important philosophy is that the players and staff are humans with families, thoughts, ideas, etc. A huge turning point was when McCoy chirped Trump. The team had a meeting where Im sure they were allowed to speak their minds and collectively decided what to do. They were allowed to protest while other owners and coaches were trying to stifle their players. Pegula wrote an anti-Trump letter to support the players as well, which probably wasnt easy for him. Another example was they allowed Beasley to speak his mind last year, even though some saw it as a possible distraction. I do not think McDermott (and the organization as a whole) is in the business of censoring players. They allow the leadership in the lockerroom to deal with things if needed. These men are adults. I know they do things together as families. I'm sure McDermott knows every player and staffer's wife/gf and kids' names. I believe they are up-front and professional with players when it comes to contracts and negotiations. All this goes a long way to stand out from many other places. -
count me in thinking at first this was Matt Barkley and wondering why such compensation would be necessary

Agreed on the Patriots one. At that time I had empathy for Boston sports fans and always knew the Patriots as an underdog. I regret never really getting into and savoring the Bulls/Jordan run. I didnt like the NBA due to some phony macho "hockey is better/tougher" thing. Also couldnt stand anyone front-runner who wore Bulls gear, had posters in their locker, etc.

Very low benchmark for a hallowed honor tbh. Sabres hof? Sure. He won't even be in the hhof. No championships. Won the vezina but was only in the top 5 once. The sabres' retired numbers are so gunked up. What's going to happen if they have glory years?

Does this Pats fan make sense? 🤔 I HATE to admit I agree with him.
May Day 10 replied to StHustle's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills are perfectly relevant.... the Patriots are too. Buffalo is a consensus Superbowl favorite and were placed in numerous prime timeslots. Now if we compare the past 2-4 seasons with the Patriots' 2000-2019 run, then yeah, it pales in comparison. Even if Buffalo wins 2 of the next 4 Superbowls, the Patriots' dynasty will probably reign supreme if someone needs to compare the 2. That 2-decade run is/was a unicorn in current capped revenue sharing sports. If it makes Patriots fans happy to always use the 'rings' trump card like those Yankees fans they hate for that same reason... then let them do it. It was a great run and they are lucky to have taken that ride. -
Do you take any vitamins on a daily basis?
May Day 10 replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall
I take a small battery 1-a-day, B Complex with C, green tea extract, and Omega 3 flaxseed oil. I go in and out with probiotics because they are pricey. -
I havent done The Show this year yet. I did do a ton of Diamond Dynasty in 2020 though.
