  1. Sounds like a lot of NIMBY and manipulation in advertising and media turned a lot of people against the proposal. Without delving too deep, it sounds like it was a lot of private money and building the complex on a to-be-cleaned up waste dump.
  2. When my dog passed away, we had a 2nd one. She was a godsend in providing comfort.
  3. It sucks and almost everyone can relate and sympathize. At first the grief almost physically hurts. They have their routines which are intertwined with yours and suddenly that is gone. It takes awhile to get used to. It does get easier. The best thing for me is/was to think of some of the good times in the prime. Some funny things your pet did, funny episodes, things they did to piss you off but its funny now, etc. Even write those things down, maybe even share them on social media.
  4. 1987-1996. That was when I was 9-18. Prime sports fandom ages when everything seems better than it was. We had a great Bills run in there and the Sabres also had a lot of good teams. I think the various sports left some good eras behind there too and we transitioned into the modern sports world. 100 RSNs, Sports media, 24 hour news, and so on. General oversaturation. The NHL still had a lot of fighting and emotion. MLB hadnt gone through the steroid era yet. I wish I could go back to the 1950s-60s sometimes for baseball and football. I think that would be a really great era for both.
  5. I have a friend I went to college with who does this. Isn't even a hockey fan. During the playoffs though he continually spams social media about the Rangers. During Carolina runs its the same way with Carolina. I just think you cant do that. I had to endure his 4 Yankees world series wins when in college. He is also a big Lakers "fan".
  6. Hopefully they can put a permanent webcam on the construction like they have done with the construction of some modern venues.
  7. Yeah, Im a big fan of that. Extra time before both Cincinnati and KC. Easier in the beginning (supposedly), then ramps up. Also dont have to go into the 7th circle of hell and play football in 100% humidity and 95 degrees on the field Based on the off-the radar 4 games I have been told, that matches up.
  8. I have heard in decent authority (rumor I guess) Week 2 vs Raiders Saturday 12/23 @ Chargers Week 18 Sat or Sun @ Dolphins
  9. I hate it. Not to mention short week likely for week 2. This is going to be like their Super Bowl.
  10. I would consider minnesota and maybe new Orleans as traditional. I'd also hear an argument for Houston.
  11. This is terrible. Sizeable advantage to jacksonville
  12. Monumental day in Bills history. 12-15 years ago, if you would have told me that we would be breaking ground on a new stadium across the street in 2023... I would have thought you were crazy.
  13. Took the consensus best ol remaining. Impossible to argue with that
  14. For me, it is/was Poltergeist. Scared the living daylights out of me as a kid. As far as slasher films. Terrifier and Terrifier 2. Insidious is great. As mentioned a lot. Hereditary is one of the best horror movies made. Maybe not so much 'scary'... but, just how everything unfolded.
  15. I haven't been this excited about a pick since watching xavier omon highlights
  16. The Jerry Springer show was great in the period of time where it went from topics of interest and was transitioning into the absurd. I'd say about 1997? It was still kind of trying to be real and grounded. Fights were real. After a year or so, the show just turned into a caricature of itself and was unwatchable. Maury took over as the most compelling guilty pleasure daytime television talk show.
  17. I hate this movie for no other reason than it memorializes that clown Russ Brandon as the Buffalo Bills GM.
  18. I didnt know that. I consider myself extremely knowledgeable on franchise history/relocation. I guess I am going to have some great learning coming up. To be fair, I don't remember any derby going on previous to the more recent additions. I was 13-14 in 1992 though So they got to draft a bunch of North Stars, and in turn, the North Stars were allowed to participate in the expansion draft. They moved to Dallas a year later. Crazy.
  19. It is a part of an already vibrant and affluent downtown scene in a city that has quickly become one of the hottest destinations in the country. Horse before the cart there. Need to get the other stuff rolling like actual major commerce downtown, and people working, living, and shopping there.
  20. The Sharks were just an expansion franchise.
  21. Its a good move for the Jets, and probably a good move for the Packers. It is a risk, losing the picks and delaying the QB search for a year or so... but they need to go for it now. Last year they had the look of a team poised to make some noise. If Rodgers can get back to form, they are going to make the playoffs and can win playoff games. If I am a Bills fan and they had a similar situation with the drought... I would want them to do this all day (I was excited for Rex Ryan too). You do run the risk of Rodgers rodgering. A volatile franchise in a viscous media market. I Rodgers is a 1-and-done, recent history shows there is a rolling availability of competent quarterbacks
  22. Yes, and no. Their lease is about up, and they are going to be asking for a lot of money in upgrading that arena (if not asking for a new one). Through the lens of that, the outlook appeared a bit stormy, with how the team could never leave their rut, and attendance was sparse. I had never seen interest in the team so low, even during the NHL ownership/bankruptcy period. You also had to wonder how much more frustration, criticism, embarrassment, and financial losses the Pegulas wanted to endure with the Sabres. The NHL has a few other fires burning though, and not a huge bench of billionaires willing to purchase (and relocate) a franchise. The NHL seems a bit averse to relocation in recent decades. But they are at a crossroads with this arena (no pun intended). I honestly wish money were no object and we can have a re-do with that terrible arena now. They cold build a much more aesthetically pleasing, more comfortable arena, with much better sight lines, seats closer to the action... and house many of the events that people wanted with a Bills-centric facility downtown. The thing we have now is the NHL's version of Three Rivers Stadium/Riverfront/Veterans Park/Busch Stadium.
  23. I would doubt it. Would be really weird timing with the new stadium. Also, Jesse's words in the players tribune certainly sounded like her long term career was going to be management of this franchise.
