Stadium Construction Discussion (No PSL/Seat selection posts)
May Day 10 replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have often questioned local Yankees fans on that. You couldn't pick a more different philosophy and experience as the Yankees vs the local Buffalo teams (I was more on this before there were several other big spenders who emerged in MLB). Red Sox and Boston in general were kind of endearing losers for what seemed to be destined for all eternity. I have always been a Cleveland fan. I admit though, since the Guardians name change, it doesn't feel the same. The Cleveland experience fits in well with Buffalo though. -

I hate the Yankees, but there are more Yankees fans in WNY than any other team. Next I would say probably the Mets and Red Sox would be close to one-another. Then comes the Blue Jays (surge lately with the affiliation and the home games in Buffalo maybe propel them into the above group with the Mets and Sox). Then comes the Indians Then Pirates I have only known 1 Reds fan in all my years living here. I know several (long time) Orioles fans. I would say they are after the Pirates. -
It is tough/impossible to call the Bills the 'winner' here. It seems like Diggs might have had them backed into a corner though, and they had little choice. It seems he started pouting somewhere towards the end of the 2022 season. The Bills figured they could make everything better through the offseason, and last season, but it seems to have never worked out. This year, he would have probably been a distraction and/or not given full effort, and probably let the Bills know that. Its a net-negative for the Bills though. It is a drought-era WR room right now. They had to eat feces on a $31 cap hit. Along with all the other departures of team captains and pro-bowlers, this is really going to test the sustainability of the "process" here as well as Josh Allen's ability, commitment, and leadership. It kind of sails outside of the Bills being a powerhouse, and more into the seas of the unknown (and there is a hurricane Terry looming somewhere out there) I think Beane has done a lot of great things here. However, the combination of the Diggs extension, Von Miller signing, and Knox extension have really hurt. The good news is, 2025 looks to promise a ton of cap space. If they can land 3-4 decent regular contributors in this draft class out of 10 picks (and UDFA), and hit on 2-3 more next year, and make some good signings, they could be right back as a Superbowl front-runner with Allen and the younger pieces. That would indicate they are more of the ilk of Baltimore, Phily, SF, LA Rams, as opposed to another flash in the moment-in-the-sun recent franchise successes like Carolina, Atlanta, or

Which means he may be even more desperate for targets and flip out when the other guys get them

What sports teams have you ever had season tickets for?

Bills Sabres UB Football Phillies MLB (partial season pack) -
Honestly, that structure sounds fantastic and much better than the current Frankenstein that we used to know as college football. This would give you your regional divisions/conferences and restore the rivalries. You have a relegation/promotion opportunity for the mid-majors if a program takes off.
-
I wonder if there was an actual decline.... or if Diggs was just pouting and not putting in full effort for the last half of the season and playoffs. I wish we could know what Diggs' heat with the Bills was, and what was done/attempted (if anything) to fix it.
-
If I'm not mistaken, the Bils could get to $50-$75 million-ish under the cap for next offseason. Maybe more depending on von Miller and knox's status
-
So if this is accurate, this basically costs the Bills $4 Million additional this year, and they are scott-free otherwise. Does anyone here know whether or not that $31.096 can now be spread across 2 years? If so, that can provide some immediate savings. Thirdly, I wonder if Diggs is going to press the Texans for an extension/restructure with such little guaranteed money?
-
They at a $30 Million cap poop sandwich, to ship him out of here (to a potential AFC rival) for pennies on the dollar. People freaked at his posts because they were clearly little glimpses of bigger issues in his head and inter-personally with his teammates and management. Maybe he was 'trolling' people or things were taken out of context. At this point, highly unlikely. The guy was a malcontent D-bag.

Run, Run, Pass, Punt

I thought for sure he was hurt.... but he participated in all the pro bowl stuff

This blows a huge hole in the hull of the ship here.

Ugh. Strengthens the Texans, who I think are going to be a bigger menace that KC and Cincinnati for the next 2-3 seasons.
-
Goodbye problem child. Had some great times here. By all accounts he is not a pleasant person, and I am sure his act has worn very thin based on the punitive damage this trade causes
-
he has completely destroyed the franchise, and there are almost no signs he has learned a thing

Vancouver is a good example that becoming a good NHL team isnt splitting the atom. They play in Rick Tocchet's likeness and grind the other team to a pulp. They had 83 points last season and are like the best team in the NHL this year. The Sabres had 91 points, obsess about learning, growth and maximizing communications and tell us that "success is seldom linear", and predictably take a step backward.

Im glad they arent giving the club holders first-dibs on the whole building at this point. I was worried that many/most would flood the seating areas, and by the time our turn came around, these un-wanted $40K PSL seats would be the only ones remaining. We are in the rockpile seats, but have been STH since 2004 I think. Probably decent seniority. Willing to stomach a reasonable PSL for a good vantage point -

There are certainly better ways to finance the $40K than an M&T loan for 10 years? My kids have plenty of organs I can sell. -
Peter Guelli the new COO of the Bills and Sabres

Russ Brandon disciple. -
Im a fan of the Byram trade. The top 4-5 defensemen long-term can/should/will be a force. Losing Mittlestadt hurts (Reinhart was 10x worse IMO), but the Sabres have a glut of forwards in the near-term pipeline.

Yes, parts of it is actually looking like a stadium at this point. -
I agree. He was a horrible punter here. Terrible punting is a pet peeve of mine. It should be something you barely notice. When you notice they are bad and they hurt the team it is infuriating.
