  1. It's my belief that the Bills don't make any type of move on McCoy until after the outcome of Sunday's game in Houston.  A win Sunday and a favorable match-up in Indianapolis the following week could leave the Bills at 4-3, with 6 of their last nine games at home.

A win against Houston to me says we keep Shady at least until the Colts game to see where we are.

In this time frame let's also look at RB needy teams like the Jaguars who just signed Jamal Charles off the scrap heap of used up running backs to get the very best offer if circumstances to trend towards a McCoy trade.

To me this is what I believe is what is in the minds of Beane and McDermott as this moves forward.

  2. I've been reading post after post about trading McCoy for future draft capital.  But I do think this talk is premature.

The AFC east standings as of this morning show the Patriots and Dolphins at 3-2 and the Bills and Jets at 2-3.  Of 16 divisional games to be played, only two have been scheduled and completed.

Therefore let's look at this weeks match-ups

Bills @ Texans - Watson day-to-day, poor offensive line, shakey secondary, Bills could get a tight gritty win to go 3-3

Colts @ Jets - Jets coming off romp over Broncos, Colts got smoked at NE but have three additional days of rest, tough game to call but let's say Jets win and move to 3-3

Bears @ Dolphins - Fins hot start fading as they got hammered by the Patriots and did a huge collapse in Cincinnati last week.  Bears coming off bye after crushing Bucs.  Love the Bears to go into Miami and squish the fish.  Dolphins drop to 3-3

Chiefs @ Patriots - Boy is this one gonna be fun.  Let's see if Bellicheck can create a defensive masterpiece to shut down or even slow down the impressive and creative Chiefs or possibly outscore then in a wild shootout on Sunday night football.  Let's say Chiefs get the win and drop the patriots to 3-3.

In this scenario, the AFC East is in a 4 way tie, 87.5% of division games left to play out and the worst of the Bills schedule is behind them.

If I'm the Bills I am making moves to add to my roster without giving away future draft choices and let this play out.

Your thoughts are very much appreciated on this topic.

  3. My question is simple.  What are the cap implications.

Here is my thought, work a three way trade.  McCoy to Philly, Bell to Buffalo, Bills get 2nd and 4th for Shady, trade 2nd and 3rd to Steelers for Bell.

Steelers need picks to rebuild, Eagles can take on McCoy and his salary as they just extended Fletcher Cox, and we can slot McCoy's salary for Bell and still have 10 picks next year.  Bell is 3 years younger and would still be more then serviceable when the Bills challenge in 2019'and 2020.

Thats how I would approach this.

With Allen looking as bad as he does, even though these two did absolutely nothing offensively to help his cause, McD and Beane must be in panic mode (Derek Anderson, really?).

Not only do you have to rebuild an entire offense but your prized QB is beyond terrible. Maybe if they would have listened to the overwhelming majority of pundits they wouldn't have traded all their draft capital for a guy with suspect accuracy and pocket awareness. Couple this with underachieving at Wyoming and I'm not really sure why he was ever a consideration in the first round to begin with.

If its me..and trust me I know this will not happen.. I am very seriously considering a QB with my top 10 pick next year if there isn't any progression. I know everyone wants to give it time but how often is a QB utterly awful only to turn it around and become great these days (Goff seems to be the exception to the rule - not ready to anoint Trubisky).

So I'd be kicking my self in the rear if I were these guys. I gave up (2) crucial 2nd round picks that could have been used to bolster my roster even further and probably could have done so and skill gotten Josh Rosen had I stayed put.

So go ahead and tell me it's too early. Some of us know when things are going to end poorly (EJ Manuel). My advice to Beane and McD is think long and hard this offseason and don't be blinded by reality...you're jobs may depend on it.

Your take is idiotic.  The Bills are in a Multiyear rebuild on offense exaggerated by the loss of 40% of their offensive line during the offseason and making the choice to take the cap hit this year and use this year to add young talent and let it develop.

You bemoan all the draft capital in getting Allen, but is their any QB in the 2019 draft class has a comparable skill set?  I watch a lot of college football and there is not.  You feel we should have stayed at 12 and selected Rosen.  Behind our line and with our horrid receiving Corp he would be crumpled in a fetal position whimpering with the first of many NFL concussions, and when his brain becomes descrambled listening to him B word about the piss poor talent around him.

Accept this year for what it is, if you want to

complain do it, your childish whining won't change anything, just allows people like me to light you up for the fair weather fan you are.

Hope the rest of the dedicated Bills fans also give you a piece of their minds you jerk

This is spot on. Did these guys really not expect bumps in the road for Allen? Did they really not realize how bad the offensive talent around him was? Did they really think that Peterman was capable of holding down the fort until Allen was ready? Every single one of these things was abundantly clear to even casual fans. How can the guys calling the shots be blind to it?!?

Perfect review and analysis.  Anderson has the same type of baseline skills, big, mobile and huge inaccurate arm, all at much lower levels of talent then Josh Allen.  This is a very smart move.

Sorry for Nate, seems like a nice guy, but not an NFL caliber player.

  6. I believe today will be the start of a three game winning streak in the 2nd of the the (4), 4 game quarters of the season leading up to Halloween ? night against the Patriots.

The Titans game is gonna be a tough defensive struggle that I think the Bills pull out on a late FG to win 16-13.

Next Week the Bills travel to Houston to face a very disappointing Texans team who have major holes on the offensive line and secondary and again, the Bills have an excellent chance to hang in a tight, relatively low scoring game winning maybe 24-14 and scoring a defensive TD late to extend the margin of victory.

The following week sends us on the road for the 5th time in 7 weeks to face the Indianapolis Colts.  This Colts team is gritty but talent starved with no running game and a young defense that has less talent and is a couple of years behind the Bills in development.  See we could win comfortably here maybe by 27-17 to move to 4-3 on the season.

Then its home ? on Monday night, ? night against the Patriots and 6 out of our last 9 at home.

It all starts today and I'm ready for some Bills football, how about you?

Like I said, I hated the selection of Allen, complete reach job, almost as bad as EJ.

This front office !@#$ed us this past offseason, they had all the tools available and they went mad.  I've watched football for 30 years, I know trash when I see it.  Allen was **** in college, he's going to be **** on a ****ty Bills team, and in all likelihood won't develop into a high tier QB.  Feel free to save my posts and throw them back at me if he ever develops, in the meantime I have no hope for him, kid will just be another on a long list.

Go root for some other team and get off this board

How much roster can you turn over in a year? And is that a good thing?

Sadly what we have can't play.  We passed on Martavious Bryant and Josh Gordon because they are "not process guys". Process on defense works as it's about intelligence and scheme more then great physical talent.  Plus we have NFL level talent on D.  Offense is about skills, speed and quickness, good hands, balance and strength and movement on the line.

Our current receivers can't seperate or catch, linemen minus Dawkins are immobile turnstiles whose best block is the lookout block and a helping hand when JA is knocked into next week.

We need 4 WR, 3 OL and. Quality TE.

  9. The way I see this mess play out I feel that a complete offensive roster shuffle must occur at end of the season.

Here are moves I would make now.

Explore a trade with Steelers, McCoy for Bell and our 4th next year.  Bills move Shady cap for Bell cap number and have money to extend him.  He's three years younger and would be a piece to build around.

Promote Teller from PS and cut Miller.  Promote Sirles from PS, better line depth on game day.

Play out the string to the inevitable 4 win season and then keep the following:

Allen, Bell, Ivory, Murphy, Zay Jones, Crom, Thomas, Mills, Dawkins, Bodine, Groy, Sirles, Teller

Cut or don't resign anyone else.

Back up the truck and take out the trash and build an offensive line and receiving Corp in the draft and free agency.

All of the first rounders except for Baltimore are all starting before mid season is even here...........

I realize that this will not be fully know for a few years......but does this look like the greatest QB draft ever?

Elway starting but not playing well, Marino backing up and threw two TD's in mop up role, Blackledge backing up and not playing, O'Brien backing up Richard Todd,  Tony Eason backing up Steve Grogan, Kelly lighting it up for USFL Houston Gamblers

as long as we see him making the right decisions with the ball and putting it where it should be I'm fine with this being  a growing year.   Any FA wrs that see those deep balls hitting their target regularly have to consider Buffalo.

As JA progresses the mix of lots of cap space and the desire to be with a QB of his skill set will draw the best offensive FA to Buffalo and in conjunction with our 10 draft pick, we will see a major positive roster shuffle next year on the offensive side of the ball.

  12. It's amazing how one fabulous week changes the outlook on the season.

Who are the 2018 Buffalo Bills?  Well the next four games could give us a good picture.  Let's take a look.

    @ Green Bay

To me we are catching the Packers at a great time, Rodgers mobility is limited, injuries at the tackle spots, the defensive line and LB corps also suffering major injuries.  This is a winnable game if we play complimentary football.

    Tennessee

The Titans are at best an average team, nothing about them stands out.  At home the Bills could dominate.

    @ Houston

At first glance had this as a L, but something is terribly wrong and they like the Vikings have an awful offensive line.  Based on recent level of play the Bills have a 50/50 chance

    @ Indianapolis

Luck not the same player and Colts personnel is worse then the Bills.  Give the Bills a 75/25 chance in this one.

It will be a fun ride.
