I am sick of hearing about how our coaching sucks....
SKOOBY replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Since it's a all male coaching staff, I am going to have to defer this right back to the masses. I really think that our player quality has sucked for the last 9 years and retreads / players out of their prime are good for nothing. T.O. is borderline out of his prime but he has also performed as the #1 producing WR over the last 3 seasons, so until a drop-off it remains to be seen. Plan on DJ getting COTY accolades by late november, us looking like a strong / well coached team. -

It's cool, this season has yet to be played and you guys discount comparisons about how the offensive talents are aboard. We're loaded for bear and ready to use a no-huddle attack offense, you can't tell me back then that the O-line was a known quantity, it was a huge question mark at the time. It's easy to look back with 20/20 then to look forward, I can't live in the past but I can look for similiar talent.

Steve caught a few extra bullets for a reason.

Looks like we have $21 M tied up in WR's this season, any reason we should not go No-Huddle & utilize what we're paying for?? You'd think with this kind of money tied up in the offense now, we should be wondering about how often we're going to score versus if. GO BILLS!!! NFL Projected 2009 Salary Cap Figure (Buffalo News Figures): $127 Million (Bills figure will be around $10 Million higher with adjustments for incentives not reached) Bills Cap Money Allocated For 2009 (Buffalo News Figures): approx. $117 Million: - The Bills are now under the cap by approx. $10 - $20 Million. as of 4/6 Bills Actual Money Allocated For 2009 (Buffalo News Figures): approx. $103 Million: - The Bills are now under the cash to the cap money by approx. $24 - $34 Million. as of 4/6 The cap figure the Bills have now is based on estimates made in the media and our archived contract terms. Below is a list of approximate cap figures from 2009 (in blue) for key players, we will update the list throughout the offseason. We stress that these numbers are our best estimates and may vary somewhat. Keep in mind the cap figures isn't the same as the cap hit if they are cut. If a player is cut amortized portions of their bonus goes against the cap figure. In bold we give you the money the player would make this year (the cash to the cap figure) along with comments on what we think the team may do with certain players. Subtract that number from the cap figure gives you the amount saved by the release of a bubble player. Some things not totally figured out by us are the LTBEs (likely to be earned incentives), they count differently against the cap. This year there are only a couple of players that the team would consider releasing that would open up significant cap room as they have not back loaded too many contracts over the past few years. They also don't need to free up money since the team is well under the cap and has ample room to make moves. The fact that the team is a small market team may stop them from giving out the big signing bonuses that other teams do. We will update and fine tune these numbers as we get more information from various media sources. The initial numbers are out of the Buffalo News: DT Kyle Williams $2.385M - $1.245 Million this year. WR Josh Reed $2.525M - $2.025 Million this year. WR Roscoe Parrish $2.45M - $3 Million this year including bonuses. LB Kawika Mitchell $2.6M DE Ryan Denney $2.4M QB Ryan Fitzpatrick $1.8M C Geoff Hangartner $1.9M WR Terrell Owens $6.5M WR Lee Evans $9.87M - Base of $9 Million this year. DE Aaron Schobel $6.5M - $3.5M salary guaranteed. G Derrick Dockery $5.85M - Saves $450,000 on cap with release. OT Langston Walker $5M - $5M is cap figure as well. DE Chris Kelsay $5.6M OT Jason Peters $4.1M - $2.95M against cap if traded. TE Robert Royal $2.23M - May be released to open up money. CB Terrence McGee $4.37M - Last year of contract; may get re-done. S Donte Whitner $5.05M DT Marcus Stroud $3.5M - He may also ask for new deal after trade last year. DT Spencer Johnson $3.5M DT John McCargo $1.83M - Last year of deal; will be released.

On paper the top quarter of the league's defenses reside in the NFC East, you'd think that if anyone could stop teams from scoring, they would be out of there. Then again, everyone has go try to find one guy instead of a valid statistical argument of where the best defense are. Some of us might of missed that NYG / NE Superbowl, you know that one where the best undefeated team / offense ever got crushed by the Giants defense. I thought that might be pretty hard to forget, maybe not.

Think T.O. might accomplish that now?? -
After thinking about the NFC east / defensive minded teams that T.O. had to face as a Dallas Cowboy 6 times a year (+ playoffs) & how they play versus the AFC east secondaries, he should have a much easier time of it being a Buffalo Bill. Can you think of anyone on the Miami team's backfield that can put the fear of god into T.O.?? How about the Jets secondary or even NE's? T.O. is going to have a field day and be uncovered, like a doll house ****** on saturday night, count on it.

We had a chance to win more than we lost last year, I attribute that to the coaches calling the games. We have been sorely lacking at WR, henceforth why the T.O. pick up was just so huge. We went from a #1 to a #3 WR to having 1A / 1B, just a huge difference. We also picked up a solid performer in Rhodes who can assure a fresh pair of legs on the field when ML / FJ are tired. It's hard to press when you have your only WR covered by several people on every play. Now it's going to be Trent recognizing coverages and seeing who is open, not if someone is open. The difference will show almost instantly this season, our 2 boys complimenting each other. -
Is Aaron Schobel ready for this season??

We have talent, that's been the missing part of the past 9 years. Not that we didn't have talent along the way, it just wasn't this deep nor spread out amongst the different positions. We will have the #1 or 2 special teams squad in the NFL, should break the top 10 in defense and the offense has enough firepower to outshoot just about everybody. We have the top WR combo in the NFL (maybe 2nd behind AZ), 3 solid RB's and some new blood to flow on the line. I personally think that inexperience at some key positions will be our biggest problem initially but can be worked through. All in all, having the talent gives the coaches a chance to put a better result up. DJ is not stupid / nor uneducated, he has just lacking a good enough supporting cast to succeed until now. GO BILLS!!!!! -

If you go out and get aggressive players and change your offense to a no-huddle style, your making war not tea. -

It's the coaches job to make sure that players aren't put in positions to fail and obviously DJ and company felt that we and players on the field that were not ready to press, yet. This season we're looking at taking what we want versus taking what we get. Turk is installing a no-huddle system to take advantage of our offensive talent, the defense has a few playmakers / an excellent secondary and Bobby April will have our special team a clicking for sure. Less weakness, built for agressive playmaking and talent at many positions. I see us doing well, real well. -
The Bills have been missing the talent necessary to compete in the league for years. Our offense is chocked with weapons and our secondary is as well. With a little luck and some good plays called, we actually could be competitive almost immediately. A fast start doesn't mean as much as a fast finish but I'd like to see some DJ lose the crypt keeper status and play all the games to win.

You normally draft / acquire players on how you plan on playing, we're getting dirty.

This is basically how I felt as well, field a competitive / talented team then let's see how they do. -
