LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EVANS!
Indy Dave replied to CosmicBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let's give some credit. Great blocking by the entire OL, TEs and the two backs. Great throw, nice catch. We're ahead damn it. -
Maybe that pop gives Willis the confidence he need
Indy Dave replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kudos to Willis, and kudos to the coaches for the call. Third and nine, and we ran the ball. I'm sure this board would have Rosened had it not worked, but the fact is, it caught the Jets by surprise, which is refreshing. Now let's do it again. -
You're hilarious. No really, you are. TOUCHDOWN BUFFALO. WOO HOO!

at least we'll win the t/o battle
Indy Dave replied to phxbacker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep, our ball. All together now..... PUNT TEAM! -
HA. I got a second one since the Bills always stomp on the first one.
-
Good for you. Tough loss for them today-- didn't see that coming, but I don't think many people did. Great win for the Braves though. Best of luck tomorrow.

I never said you come here to bash the team. I said you come here to bash Travis. I also said the Bills were still number 1 in my hearts. I guess you didn't do so well in reading comprehension on your SAT.
-
Nice intelligent response. Do us all a favor and cut your hands off.
-
That's exactly what I mean Bill. You want to blame one frickin' guy for a loss? That's so stupid, I can't believe I'm responding to it. What about our defensive line, who couldn't get in Pennington's face if Chad had to count to 15 before he was allowed to throw? What about our DBs who can't over Wayne Chrebet? Let that sink in for a second. WAYNE CHREBET. What about our punter, who hasn't had a punt worth a s-h-i-t today? What about Evans or Reed, who can't get open? What about Moulds, who like Travis, also has a drop today? The whole team sucks. To point your finger at Travis and say he's losing the game is just plain dumb. It's beyond dumb. It's frickin' retarded.

I've adopted a second-favorite team. I did it a couple of years ago. I really enjoy watching them play. Have seen them in person, and watch them on TV every chance I get. They are fun to watch, have a lot of exciting, big-name players who perform well each week, their players and coach are classy, community-oriented people...what's not to like? Oh, they are 4-1 having played one of the NFL's toughest schedules, and while their defense isn't very good, they have a knack for making the big play when they need it most. Their offense is simply outstanding, and reminds me of the Bills of the early 90s. While my passion for this team isn't nearly what it is for the Bills, having this second-favorite team has helped my sanity and gives me something to look forward to each Sunday other than these boring, pathetic Bills. I know it's against our religion to care about another team other than the Bills. Believe me, I completely understand. But it's been therapuetic to take an interest in another team, and I'd recommend it to anyone who needs another team to root for. So GO BILLS! And go Colts.

Start Shayn Mathews in the second half
Indy Dave replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To quote Clark Griswold, "You really think it matters, Eddie?" -
Travis runs up the field and good things happen. Travis goes sideline to sideline and it might as well be Sam Adams in at tailback. RUN STRAIGHT UP THE FIELD.

Smart gamblers would pool all of their resources together and bet the under on that game next week. The thing that scares me about Miami is that their defense has more playmakers than ours, and they are at their best on third and long. It seems like our defense gives up third and long more than they force the punt.

If Bledsoe's So Bad, Why Isn't Henry
Indy Dave replied to BilzFanGA's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with you that Travis makes too many mistakes. All the stuff you said...missed blocks, the inexplicable slipping. That's why, contrary to your statement, I do not think he is a stud back. I simply think he is a good back. But there are clearly several running backs in the NFL better than he is. Unfortunately, none of them play for the Bills. If we had a high-powered offense and were missing just the game-breaking running back to make our offense complete, I'd be in your corner. But the fact is, our quarterback is below average. Our best receiver is productive (although he makes just as many mistakes as Travis, even if the complaints around here are fewer and farther between), but the rest of our players are not very good. And that's what baffles me. Of all the problems with our offense, I think the list is pretty long before you can get to Travis. We are near the two-minute warning as I type this. Travis has a couple of nice runs, but for the most part the Jets are keying on him and stopping him. Travis is running sideline to sideline instead of up the field. He doesn't have the speed to do this, and it's pissing me off, so I do notice when Travis isn't playing well. Jonas is getting his ass whipped by Abraham. Once again, our receivers others than Moulds are non-existant. Third and 18 and we're dumping the ball to Travis, who someone manages to deflect the ball 10 yards into the air. Even if he caught it, what's he going to do? Sigh. -
Lee Evans...Tim Euhus...Joe Burns....I don't care. If someone on our offense scores two TDs today, that will be great with me. That would mean our offense produced more than 10 points. You are right though....Evans is better than Reed and should play every snap. Reed should be battling for the No. 3 receiver, not No. 2.

If Bledsoe's So Bad, Why Isn't Henry
Indy Dave replied to BilzFanGA's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You clearly haven't been visiting this message board if you think Travis is treated like a god. Not around here, he's not. In fact, he gets as much blame as anyone, other than perhaps Drew. To say he cost us the game last week is just plain stupid. One bad play can't erase all the good he did. If that's the case, go hang Terrence McGee. Sure, he made several big plays, but he also gave up the tying touchdown. But overall, he had a good game...just like Travis did. I don't know why it's so hard for people to figure out that Travis is better than Willis. That's why he's our running back. That's why Willis is on the bench. You want to compare Willis to Edgerrin? Fine. Look how long it took James to recover from a knee injury that wasn't as serious as the one suffered by Willis. A year from now, Willis will be 100 percent, not 80 or 90. Then we'll see what the man can do. Hopefully he will be the stud we all want him to be. If so, we have a running back controversy. Until then, Travis is the man. It's sad that some people around here sit and root against Travis Henry, just for the sake of coming on this board to bash him and say, "I told you so." Christ, the guy hasn't even lost a fumble yet. Wait until that happens. Bill in NYC and his clones will cause this board to malfunction, rip the guy, and forget everything positive that Travis has done for this team. Travis has his shortcomings, which have been discussed ad nauseum around here. But this team has a long list of problems that are greater than our running back situation, that's for damn sure. -
Bad Start by Yankee Pitcher 1-0 Twins in First
Indy Dave replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True, but the circumstances were much different. 8-1 Yankees versus 6-6 in the Angels game, in a must-win situation, facing one of the best players in the game. Point taken though, Darin. The first thing I said to my buddy when Torre came in to take the ball from Felix last night was, "Well Giambi just made the roster for the Boston series. No way Felix makes the roster." He's awful. Hits a lefty in the upper back, then a righty in the foot. Sonofabitch had no idea where the ball was going. -
The Red Sox are a team who love playing the game and love their teammates. I love it. If they had New York across their chest instead of Boston, they would be a bunch of slobs who disrespect the game with their long haircuts and 37-step handshakes. Then you'd call them all gay because they are always hugging each other.

Bad Start by Yankee Pitcher 1-0 Twins in First
Indy Dave replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, the Twins were just beaten by a better team. Just like the Angels. If anything about the first round of the AL playoffs was pathetic, it was Sciossa's decision to bring in Jarrod Washburn yesterday. He came out of the bullpen and I literally started laughing. The thought that went through my head was, "Who is making this decison, ESPN (official network of the Red Sox)?" One pitch, Ortiz cranks it. Yanks-Red Sox....here we go again. -
Bills (+6.5) over JETS If Drew Bledsoe was a horse, the trainer would be telling the owner, "We need to put him down," and the owner would be crying and saying, "Just give me a couple of moments with him," so the trainer would leave and the owner would remain in the stable, rubbing the horse's head and saying his goodbyes. Then they would take the horse behind the back and shoot him. In real life, Bledsoe will be benched as soon as J.P. Losman comes back, then he'll be waived on March 1. "No, no Bills fans ... we sent Drew to live on a big farm so he could have other horses to play with." So why am I taking the Bills on the road? Because I don't like the way the Jets looked last week. And because this Bills team looks like it's destined for one of those agonizing, Ron Erhardt-type seasons where they're 2-8 after 10 games, even though they were one play away from taking nine of the 10 games. (On the bright side, if the Red Sox win the World Series this month, the Bills officially become THE star-crossed franchise in sports. It's like when Phil Mickelson won a major and we had to find a new "Best Player Who Hasn't Won a Major" guy, only we already have one waiting in the wings.)

OT: The Braves usual choke job is underway

No need to thank me. I had nothing to do with the Cardinals' improvement this year. -

(OT) I'm having a banner sports year...
Indy Dave replied to ExWNYer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mixed bag for me. Bills...ugh. Sabres...missed playoffs, no 2005 season in site. And I was hoping they would be one of the surprises of the league this year too. SU football...Stinks. My alma mater (Division II school) football...0-5, not much relief in site. On the brighter side: Yankees...another good year SU basketball...another good year Pacers...a great season, things look up in 2004-05 -
OT: The Braves usual choke job is underway
Indy Dave replied to BF_in_Indiana's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't blame you for getting pissed at BF's usual idiotic baseball comments. Not only is he completely obnoxious about the Cardinals, he's often the first one to stir things up about the Yankees. Of all the jabs thrown by Yankees and Red Sox fans on this board, no one throws as many as BF. And he puts his own convenient angle on arguments, then contradicts himself. For example, the first time a Yankee fan talks about their history, he says history doesn't matter. But then he's quick to remind everyone that the Cardinals beat the Yankees in the World Series in 1964. He conveniently forgets, though, that the Cardinals came into Yankee Stadium only one year ago and got their asses swept. Having said all of that, gantrules, there's no need to insult everyone who lives in the state of Indiana. I've lived here for only three years, and I've lived all over the world and in several different states, ranging from New York to Arkansas. Thanks to my job, I also get to travel all over the country. I've found that there are stupid people, as well as intelligent ones, no matter where you are.
