  1. I had just started dating a girl, a non-sports fan who invited herself over to watch the game. I honestly didn't want her to come over because I wasn't ready to show her the crazy sports fan side of me yet, but she did. Watching me get so upset over a football game (I was 22 at the time) had to be uncomfortable for her. To her credit, she hung in there and after the pick 6 that made it 35-3, she offered up a gem only a person who knows nothing about football could say: "It's only the third quarter. They could still come back." My instinct was to tell her she was f'in' nuts but I bit my lip, took a deep breath and said, "If we win this game, I'll marry you." We celebrated our 23rd anniversary earlier this year. Side note: 20 years after THE GREATEST COMEBACK EVER, my wife and I were at the Colts-Chiefs playoff game when Indy came back from 28 down in the third quarter to win 45-44. Naturally, we talked about the Bills-Oilers game at halftime and throughout the second half.
  2. Correct. I wasn't taking into consideration any tie-breakers. Just finishing with better records than Denver, Miami, Baltimore, etc.
  3. For those of you holding out hope... Week 14: Bills beat Steelers, Pats beat Ravens, Titans beat Broncos Week 15: Bills beat Browns, Pats beat Broncos, Chiefs beat Titans Week 16: Bills beat Dolphins, Steelers beat Ravens, Chiefs beat Broncos Week 17: Bills beat Jets If all of those happen, and if the Dolphins don't beat the Cardinals, Patriots and Jets (in other words, just lose one of those three games), then we're in. Other than the Bills beating the Steelers, many of those outcomes are realistic. So I think the intent of the original post was, just figure out a way to win Sunday and you can see a path to the playoffs.
  4. A Long December and there's reason to believe Maybe this year will be better than the last
  5. May I ask what happened to BillInNYC that prevents him from writing these? Nervously awaiting a reply and definitely not trying to be insensitive. I just don't come around here like I used to so I am out of the loop.
  6. Weird that you posted this. Sunday night I googled Burnt Offerings. Not sure why that popped in my head. Watched about a 2 1/2 minute trailer. Scared the crap out of me as a kid. The chauffeur gave me nightmares and I got major chills when he appeared in the trailer. Also liked The Exorcism of Emily Rose, as someone else in the thread mentioned. Same for the original Halloween and The Shining. Other somewhat recent movies I liked were The Strangers and The Conjuring. Recently watched Conjuring II. Didn't like it near as much.
  7. Agree but that is a trend dating back to Week 1 of last year.
  8. Fact I can't prove but is likely accurate: Opponents' yards per rush on second and 10: 8.7 yards per carry. Bills' yards per rush on second and 10: -3.7 yards per carry.
  9. Good evening everyone. Just FYI, I received word that afternoon that former Bills personnel man Dwight Adams passed away today. Services scheduled for Wednesday.
  10. After finally showing signs of slowing down, and then suffering an injury against the Jets that cuts his 2019 season short, the Patriots send Tom Brady to the Bills in exchange for Buffalo's first and third picks of the 2020 draft. Brady, along with veteran ex-Patriots Rob Ninkovich and Jerod Mayo, are key in the Bills' season-opening 31-0 win against New England. Buffalo starts 5-0 and are the darlings of the NFL. The Bills finish 6-10, Brady retires and the Pats' use the first-round pick acquired from Buffalo in the Brady trade to select Jacob Eason (son of former Pats QB Tony Eason), who has just led Georgia to the College Football Playoff national championship.
  11. Less about the songs, but the titles are appropriate. Don't Dream, It's Over. A Long December I Hate Myself For Loving You
  12. You can hate them and you can say they're cheaters (and you'd be justified in doing so), but New England will not lose more than two games this year, barring an injury to Brady. In fact, I think they go through the regular season unbeaten. And since they aren't losing at home in the playoffs to Denver or Cincinnati, I'll be rooting for the Packers to come out of the NFC because they're the team with the best chance of knocking off the Pats before 19-0 slaps us in the face.
  13. No chance AW doesn't return as a starter once he is ready. Still the depth of this secondary is impressive, thanks in large part to unheralded, undrafted finds. The bigger question is does McKelvin's return in 4-5 weeks result in Darby not starting.
  14. Seeing the way Karlos Williams and Ronald Darby have played reminded me of this gem. http://espn.go.com/blog/buffalo-bills/post/_/id/18643/bills-miss-the-mark-with-darby-williams-selections
  15. I obviously live in Indy and told people that our team, man for man, was better than Indy last year. Told them the same thing this summer. The obvious exception is at the quarterback position, and the difference in talent at that position is significant (though clearly that was not the case yesterday). The Colts also have the benefit of playing in the AFC South, which of course isn't their fault. I root for the Colts when they aren't playing the Bills. Their fans have always been reasonable and realistic, and every co-worker and neighbor who I've spoken to since 4 p.m. yesterday took their whippin' without crying. And of course, they are all Bills fans this week.
