Jon Stewart on Tom Brady...EPIC
metzelaars_lives replied to Alphadawg7's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The only thing you're right about is that, yes, this discussion should've moved to ppp last week. I have no idea what you're talking about with the Guam thing- I'll have to look it up- but as far as said president's flubs, in the age of social media, it's a wonder with everything he's ever said publicly being recorded and documented that that silly "57 states" flub is still being invoked by you guys. As if the guy really thought there were 57 states. And I don't even know about this Hawaii in Asia flub but I'm sure you read about it on the drudge report and if you really believe that said president thinks the state he was born in is actually on the Asian continent then there's no use debating with you any further. The difference is that congressman who thought he disproved climate change by making a snowball during the warmest winter in recorded history- that was not a flub or a slip of the tongue. He really believed it. Go bills! -

People can say, "let's not stereotype" all they want but let me ask everyone this: If you heard tomorrow that a US congressman made some insanely archaic, deeply offensive, incredibly ignorant statement about women's innards and you had to bet your life if the guy was a Democrat or a Republican, which team would you bet he plays for? -

Couldn't have said it any better. -
Apparently QB hits and YPC are not the only two things they factor into their grading. For instance, I would imagine a QB's mobility and release time would factor greatly into their QB hits. I would also imagine how good a running back is would factor into his YPC. Like I don't care who is on your OL, Adrian Peterson is gonna have a decent YPC every year. And to that point, Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller should be able to average more YPC than Trent Richardson and Daniel Herron. The fact that they didn't does say something I would think.

Ha that's funny. My little brother grew up going to school with the gronkowski kids. A couple of them are actually really smart. Not that one. -

For one you couldn't be more wrong about what Jon Stewart professes to be. He is a comedian first and foremost and has stated time and time again that's his intent and if people want to interpret what he does as news, that's entirely up to them. Politics (at least most of the time as evidenced by this Brady clip) happens to be his subject matter. Please watch his interview with Chris Wallace of fox news on youtube for further clarification. Secondly, I have two questions: can you please give me an example of some "crazy ideas" of his and also, you have put "news" in quotes when alluding to his show, which I'm ok with- would you similarly use quotes to refer to the fox news political commentary programs hosted by O'Reilly, hannity, huckabee, et al? Just curious. -

Dennis Miller's impossibly obscure references that no one in the audience gets but still laughs at are always a real hoot. How you can be anywhere on the political spectrum and not recognize Stewart's place as the greatest political satirist of our time is beyond me. Oh well. -

I was just saying that you going out of your way to tell everyone that you don't like Jon Stewart pretty much lit the fuse that never needed to be lit. Conversely, if there was a "man Glenn Beck is so awesome, listen to this point he made on his show today" thread, I would simply not open it. -

Oh it already did when Dwight in Philly, our resident blames-Obama-for-spilling-nacho-cheese-on-his-own-pants Republican, said he doesn't like Jon Stewart. Seriously, who doesn't like Jon Stewart? Saying a dude will be missed should not be a point of contention. And more important than politics, I think it's been agreed upon that calling someone a GOAT simply does not work as a complimentary acronym. -
Look man, I like that we're not always arguing these days but don't misquote me. I have never called EJ Manuel a failure. I have said as much in this thread. I don't think the Minnesota Wild are going to come back and beat Chicago in this series down 3-0. That doesn't mean Chicago has officially won the series. Get the distinction? It is possible that Manuel develops into a franchise QB just like it's possible that Minnesota comes back and wins the series. Stranger things have happened on both accounts. Secondly, I have stated time and time again that Orton sucked last year too. I never "supported" him beyond agreeing with the move when they made it. In fact, I absolutely advocated to see Manuel a few times down the stretch last season. Just so we're clear.
-
You don't get it either. My issue is that you guys think it's OK to belittle every other QB in the league yet get all defensive when it comes to Manuel. Quite frankly, I agree with you that Cassel is "meh," while I don't believe EJ Manuel to be either an actual woman or a child- it was the first nickname I could think of. The point is that if you're going to make fun of other QB's with nicknames then EJ Manuel certainly deserves one as well. That being said, I think Manuel is lucky if he ever achieves "meh" status in this league.
-
Alright put your money where your mouth is. Need I start a new thread? I have the field, you have Manuel. I am willing to go AWOL from TBD for two months if Manuel wins the job. What are you gonna do if he doesn't? And as far as Tannehill goes, the irony on this board is INSANE. Look at Tannehill's numbers. Look at how much they've improved each year. If he were our QB, everyone would be in absolute agreement that the arrow is pointing upwards and, although he may never be elite, we sure as hell have a franchise QB. Yet people pick holes in Tannehill's game and make every excuse in the world for Manuel. And lastly, I never once called Manuel a failure, nor am I ready to declare him one. All I've said is that I am predicting that he will not become our franchise/starting/whatever the hell you wanna call it QB. In other words, I do think he will be looked back on as a failure but I never said he already is one. And "Boyuel" is a clever nickname though not as good as "Womanuel," which nearly got me banned by the mods. And I would never in a million years call him Boyuel if not for people calling our other QB "Meh Cassel." I just don't understand how every other QB is fair game yet no one can have an opinion on EJ Manuel because Doug Marrone is now the assistant head coach for Jacksonville.
-
I like where you're going with this but a) no they weren't and b) they have- see his 2010 season with the Chiefs.
-
The backflips was kind of a Jerky Boys reference. I will be elated. I will definitely do cartwheels. If EJ Manuel ever throws for 4,000 yards and 27 TD's in a season, a) I will do cartwheels in my backyard, start a youtube account, post it on youtube and send everyone on here the link and b) the Bills would win the Super Bowl with that type of production from the QB position so we would have that going for us too.
-
That's hard to argue. Although Robert Woods was targeted 12 times and ended up with 3 catches for 17 yards in that game. I've never seen a stat line like that one. I don't think defending EJ's performance in the Houston game is going to get you anywhere. But I do appreciate you looking that up. OK who's in on this with me? Need I start a new thread? I have "Meh" Cassel and Tyrod Taylor and Bills fan-4-life, CBiscuit- who am I missing here?- you got EJ "only 14 games/Doug Marrone is now coaching in Jacksonville" Boyuel. Let's do this. I will take two months off from TBD beginning the date of the opener vs. Indianapolis if EJ wins the competition outright. What will you guys do if you're wrong? Agreed 100%. That play is the reason he got picked 4th overall and yet we used it, what, 3-4 times all season?
-
I almost can't wait for this to just not happen so we can just move on from this topic forever. Telll ya what- if Manuel wins this QB competition outright then I will take a two month sabbatical from TBD. And for the record, I want the Bills to get good QB play and win no matter what. If Manuel ends up being as good as Tannehill was last year- ever- I will do backflips. It's simply not gonna happen.
-
Make all the jokes you want but I would bet you $50 he had more uncatchable targets in that Houston game than he did in any other game all season. Robert Woods must've had eight of em. But yes, to your point, he was benched for 12 games so he didn't have a chance to continue sucking in those 12 games. You win.

Dan Carpenter is the most money field goal kicker the Bills have ever had. Granted kickers are hitting at a higher clip than ever but the guy is unbelievable. Hopefully he keeps it up as kickers can very easily begin to suck on a dime.
