Could you guys imagine if Aaron Rodgers had Watkins, Woods and Harvin as his three WR's this season? Is there any doubt that they would be considered the best WR group in the NFL by the end of the season? Does anyone think that Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb would have as much money in their respective savings accounts if they got drafted by the Bills?

Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have had plenty of hissy fits at their own players over the years. It means that the player cares. And my guess is they were never subjected to anything remotely close to what Woods was subjected to in the game I believe you're alluding to (12 targets, 3 catches, 17 yards). Woods is an incredibly reliable #2 WR and would put up monster numbers on a team with a competent passing game. I would say that along with maybe Nigel Bradham, he's probably the most underrated player on the team right now.

Trade Idea. Fred Jackson

There's absolutely no way any word was autocorrected to "homo" on any device. Regardless, I'm over it. Fred Jackson is not worth anything at this stage in his career. If he has an incredible preseason he could fetch a 4th from a desperate team like the texans. This would also not surprise me at all. So is the term corny. It hasn't been in since Catcher in the Rye. -

Homo? And I got a warning for calling Manuel "Boyuel?" Can we at least draw the line of making up middle school nicknames for other QB's in the league (I'm surprised no one has thought of "Trannyhill" as of yet) but everybody getting butt hurt if you say anything about EJ Manuel at guys who LED THE NFL IN PASSER RATING AND QBR LAST SEASON? -
Is it time for Plan Z at QB

The best game of his career. Oh so QB's can look good without pads after a few days of practice? I'm not pushing the panic button just yet- again I think Cassel will win the job and play well enough to get us to 10-6- but enough with excuses already. I am really looking forward to the beat reporters telling us, "hey this guy actually looked good in a practice today." We literally haven't gotten a report like that since Fitzpatrick was here, save for Manuel's one practice last year against the Steelers. Practice is really important guys. Especially for these QB's on this Bills team. -
Yeah you're right, it's not that important of a position. And I love how EJ Manuel is looking like he might not make it in the league at all but he could still develop pretty much every skill needed to play the QB position, yet Tannehill, who is already a serviceable starting QB in the league, has no chance of developing a better deep ball.
-
I suppose if you're arguing that you wouldn't trade Manuel for Tannehill because you wouldn't want to take on his contract and similarly, you wouldn't trade Chris Gragg for Tannehill, then I suppose that is a fair opinion to have. But if anyone really thinks that Manuel is a better QB than Tannehill or there is still a chance that he could be or the reason he's not already is because of how each QB has been "developed" etc., then that is a different conversation. When a guy can't spot wide open receivers when they are a secondary option and sails balls in 7-on-7 drills all summer, that is not a "development" issue. They might just suck. EJ Manuel might still suck if he were drafted by the 49ers and was developed under Bill Walsh and had Jerry Rice to throw to his whole career. This is something you might need to consider. Also, which Bills QB's since Kelly do you think would have developed into franchise QB under different circumstances? Do you think there's a chance they have just been bad at drafting and/or they have gotten kind of unlucky?

Is it time for Plan Z at QB

I am a Bills fan who is rooting for him to succeed and I haven't written him off. Are you willing to accept the perspective that it's less than likely that he succeeds? That seems to be the only perspective in this debate that some people are unwilling to accept. -

I'd give it another week and a preseason game but like I've said, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they make a move. -

I haven't said one word about EJ looking bad so far. I only commented on his, we'll call them "believers" starting to backpeddle a bit after three practices. My opinion on the guy hasn't changed at all. I still hope he emerges and wins the job. It would be better for the franchise if he did. -

So is this an indication that people are still going to use the Marrone excuse if EJ fails again this offseason/preseason. And by the way, let it be stated that I am fully in the "it's only three practices" camp. I just found it amusing that the dreamers are already starting to backpeddle when his play so far is not a surprise to 85% of Bills fans. -

What's your suggestion? And that's such a lazy post by the way. No one has ever suggested that old, slow, mediocre QB's are a long term solution. But do you want to make the playoffs this season? I do. And Matt Cassel is probably going to be a better "ticket" than EJ Manuel right now. I said the same thing. I totally agree that if one of these clowns doesn't grab the proverbial bull by the proverbial horns then a trade would not be out of the question. And again, that would've sounded crazy one year ago but with the Pegulas, it wouldn't surprise me one bit. That being said, I think if Matt Cassel looks like Matt Cassel, I think they'll take that, at least for this year. -

Not according to Vic Carucci he hasn't. It is still early. Hopefully EJ has a bounce back week. -

The EJ dreamers are starting to feel like Marty McFly when that dude cuts into dance with Lorraine at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance and his family starts disappearing from the picture on his fretboard and then he looks and his own hand starts disappearing. Not sure why 3-4 practices are deterring you now. You refused to listen when the rest of us were telling you that he sucked throughout every practice all last season and you continued to dismiss that and instead allude only to his 14 games. So if you were to follow your own narrative, these practices shouldn't really count at all. I think Cassel will be fine to get us to 10-6. I think a trade is our only hope if we want to think bigger. And with this new ownership, I wouldn't put anything past them. -
Matt Simms has good chance to make team

Much better, thank you. I have seen lots of "if this happens I'm done with the Bills" in my day but none about who they keep as their third string QB. -

So if Matt Simms looks amazing and makes the team as the third string QB over Tyrod Taylor who looks horrendous, then you are done as a Bills fan? You've made it this far man. Who the Bills keep as their third string QB would seem like a silly reason to throw in the towel now. -
I don't hate Sully like some others do, but ...

You'd have to elaborate your stance a bit further. So a sports writer in a two sports town shouldn't be allowed to write about the football team's star running back's offseason shenanigans? And also it is news in so far as national news outlets like ESPN picked up both stories. You did elaborate your stance and that's actually an excellent take. Although I can assure you that if Gronk played for the Bills that Sullivan would be critical of him too and I think he too deserves some criticism for his antics- which I'm sure he gets from some people. -

Funny, I do hate Sullivan yet I thought it was a good article. After re-reading it, I can see where most of you are coming from but these are two pretty good sized gaffes McCoy has made here already. Not illegal, no, but both of them pretty dumb. Hopefully he learns from them. After hearing him on the John Murphy show a few months back, he sounds like a very bright and very nice kid. You'd think he'd maybe be above that party thing. Either way, I will long since be over anything he's done once he breaks his first nice run on September 13th. -
Trade for Mike Glennon?
metzelaars_lives replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All this stuff being said, I've accepted who's involved and I am confident that one of these three clowns will emerge as semi competent. That being said, if anyone doesn't think that Glennon would be the odds on favorite to win this job, they are smoking crack cocaine. -drunk at a hippie bar in Denver
