Bills training camp practice 8/11

Good. I hope a lot of them are going to Sammy Watkins. Could not believe how few times we tried that last year considering how well it worked for him at Clemson. -

Mike Rodak says EJ is running with the third team? What a hack. I don't believe anything he says anyway. I mean, the guy's from Boston, right? -

I think a lot of you guys have nailed it. I think there is a massive conspiracy against EJ Manuel involving the entire Bills organization and every last Bills beat reporter. -

In fairness, Lee Evans was pretty sick in 2006. I bought his jersey based on that season. -

I said it was his third season. In earnest, it was really his second season. I'm not hating. Would you bet your hard-earned money, even odds, that Manuel ever plays 16 games and finishes 11th in the NFL in passer rating? -

You never answered my question. You think it's OK to mock QBA of my team and then I give a nickname for QBC on that same team, who will be lucky to have the career that QBA has had, and it's somehow controversial. And to achieve "meh" status, Manuel would have to have two ten win seasons and make a pro bowl. You do realize that Matt Cassel has had a more successful career than say, Losman or Edwards, right? Let's take baby steps here. Let's see Manuel have as good a season as Losman did in '06 when he took every snap all season and finished 11th in the NFL in passer rating in his third season as a pro. You realize that if he doesn't get his act together soon, he's going to go down in the annals below both JP Losman and Trent Edwards on the list of all time Bills QB's? And you have the nerve to mock the OTHER QB in this competition? -

That could all be true. Like I said, I stopped following him on twitter but I never thought of him as being anti-EJ. Now that you mention it though, I remember him being against the pick at the time. I think that's fair. Every last person on this website fancies themselves a football prognosticator to some extent. He saw a guy who wasn't very good in college and was seen as a massive project. So far he's been dead on. If he's been unjustly critical of Manuel between the pick and now, that could be, again, I don't really follow him too much. -

Boyuel is short for until he has a season like Cassel has had in this league, he's still a little boy by NFL standards. Perhaps one day he will develop into a man that an NFL team can trust to be their starting QB. A real man like Kyle Orton or Matt Cassel for instance. Until then, he is just a little Boyuel. Serious question- are you a bigger EJ Manuel fan than you are a Bills fan? -

I actually stopped following him on twitter because I thought he was too dorky. But whenever I used to hear him on the radio or now when I read his daily articles, I think he does just fine. -

Let's put the EJ debate aside. That's nitpicking at Joe Buscaglia. If you're on the sideline and your job is to tweet about every pass or whatever and he sees EJ sail one, how is he supposed to know that the WR ran the wrong route. His job is to give us updates throughout training camp and he does that just fine. I seriously doubt he or anyone else has an anti-EJ agenda. Guess what? We are on the exact same page. I have never once said that EJ will not succeed in the NFL. All I have said is that it's OK, or at least you'd think it would be OK, to have the opinion that it appears less than likely that he will. Which it sounds like you agree with. As someone who has wasted WAY too much time on here arguing about this subject, I can tell you that there are many people who do not agree with you that the likelihood of his success is low. There are many people who think that all of his issues can be attributed to Doug Marrone. There are far more people who insist he was/is a project and it's way too early to have any sort of opinion on him whatsoever. -

Well he's going to have to win a job before he's ever going to have a season as good as Orton did last year. And I don't think Orton had a good season last year- to me, he was a disappointment. But look at his numbers. Extrapolate them over 16 games (4,000+ yards and 24 TD's) and I'd be surprised if Manuel ever has a season that good in this league. And that's my issue. The EJ guys love to take cheap shots at Orton, Cassel, even Tannehill (which is utterly preposterous). Let's see Manuel sniff what any of those three guys have ever accomplished in this league and then you can make fun of them again. -

That's simply not true. Why do people paint him as some sort of victim? If he is the best QB, he will start. If plays well, he'll keep playing. By and large, he hasn't played well. That's it. No one has a personal grudge against the guy. -

Let me ask you this, honest question, not trying to start a whole thing here: What do you think the percent chances are that Manuel is still in the league as long as Orton was and Cassel still is? What do you think are the percent chances that Manuel ever has a season as good as Cassel's two best seasons? Or hell, as good as Orton's season last year? I just find it amusing that so many of you constantly mock one Buffalo Bills QB, who's actually won QB competitions, lasted whole seasons as a starter, made a pro bowl and taken a team to the playoffs, but are so defensive about another Buffalo Bills QB who aint done s**t. And I understand the "well with Matt Cassel, we know what we're getting: a below average starting NFL QB but with Manuel, there is that unknown factor" argument. But again, I'd like to see EJ Manuel prove that he is capable of even being a below average starting QB in this league before we constantly mock the other guy so haphazardly around here. I mean, if Manuel loses this job, never gets a chance to be a full-time starter again and goes the way of Losman and Edwards, which I hope you realize is a very distinct possibility, then if Cassel is "meh," what will that make Manuel? -
Bills Release First Unofficial Depth Chart

I'm still not sure why some people haven't accepted the fact that Chris Hogan is here to stay. He was good last year, he's, from all accounts, been great once again this offseason, he's great on special teams and he's listed as a #2 on the depth chart. -

My two biggest takeaways were Thigpen looking a guy who might actually make the team and Gragg being down so low. Perfect usage of that reference. And also, I'm not buying that they keep four tight ends. Maybe if we had good tight ends. -

They also added Greg Jennings, Kenny Stills and that first rounder at WR. With Landry entering his second year, they have undoubtedly upgraded their WR's. -

Be careful. Merely repeating what all the beat reporters are saying could be interpreted as an anti-EJ post. You will also elicit at least one "yeah well Joe Buscaglia is a hack/never played football" response from your post as well. Fair warning. -

Definitely yeah. It sounds like he's been the best of the bunch the last week or so. Why, have you heard otherwise? Couple that with the fact that he's the most unknown of the three and he has, from all accounts, uncanny scrambling abilities, he definitely makes for the most intriguing story. Hence the raised eyebrows. -

Arian Foster says "I don't believe in God"

I thought it was a fair question. I can see who your God is based on your avatar. The same God shared by many of those clowns on stage last night in Cleveland (yeah let's really do this). -

metzelaars_lives replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh the other question? I believe that my God (don't necessarily have a specific one?) would accept a guy into his kingdom who is kind, generous and abides by a good moral code over someone who purports to believe in God but is otherwise a dickhead. If a God accepts a guy who does nothing for the betterment of society, scoffs at the less fortunate but goes to church every Sunday over a guy who works at a soup kitchen and spends all his free time volunteering but God really isn't a part of his life, then I don't want to be a part of that religion anyway. Not to get too deep on ya. -

I haven't read every post on this thread but does anyone else think it's incredibly f***ed up that Brady's personal emails that have nothing to do with deflategate are now public fodder? I mean, I think it's funny but imagine if he didn't destroy his phone. Would websites be sharing his personal texts like this?

What are you talking about? Me: I think it's pretty clear at this point that Tannehill is the guy you'd rather have on your roster. You: Oh you wanna bring stats into this? Their stats are actually pretty close (what?) And something about Russell Wilson? Me: I didn't say anything about stats. Tannehill is obviously better. Who do you think is better? You: Then how else are you gonna compare them? I can't make a judgment as to who's better, it's still too early. My response: Dude for f*^*'s sake, on the NFL Network this morning they're talking about Ryan Tannehill as a top tier fantasy QB- maybe a guy you take right after the elite 3-4 guys (of course you will tell me that fantasy isn't relevant, but there's your stats for ya) and meanwhile, EJ Manuel is literally fighting for his NFL career as we speak. Can you please take your head out of your Wheaties box for one second and realize how ridiculous your point of view would seem to anyone but you and like 15 other guys on this website? I'm saving it but we're this close to STOP TRYING TO MAKE EJ MANUEL HAPPEN. IT'S NOT HAPPENING. And answer me this (I'm sure you won't): do you really think the Dolphins GM would go around saying that the Dolphins are in "quarterback purgatory?" And I don't even like Tannehill that much! You know in Cuckoo's Nest when McMurphy is trying to play cards with the fellas and DeVito is trying to get in on the game and Mac tells him that he can't play and then he points to the other guys playing and says "these are the real people..." This is exactly how I feel about having this conversation with you and anyone else who thinks the jury is still out on who is going to be a better NFL QB, Ryan Tannehill or EJ Manuel. We get it, Manuel has this magical upside even though he wasn't even that good in college and Ryan Tannehill has already hit his ceiling even though he only started playing QB like five years ago. Again, do you want to join the real people? That's up to you. I will look forward to you bolding a snippet of my post, taking it out of context, not reading the rest and then posting a response that doesn't address anything I've said or make any sense whatsoever. That is a fair response up until where you lump Matthew Stafford with Jay Cutler. The Bills would be Super Bowl favorites with a healthy Matthew Stafford. They would be a playoff lock with Jay Cutler.
