I said that your "well EJ didn't win the job so I'm going to instead turn to bashing Cassel to feel better about it" stance is middle school-esque. I did not mean to intimate that you hate yourself. So, what specifically do you disagree with in my post? I simply said that they should keep both of them. And where is the link to your wiki page?

What is unrealistic about what I wrote? Instead of your one sentence jabs with your patented "lol's" at the end, why don't engage me in an actual discussion and tell me one thing you disagree with in my last post. Come on, this should be interesting. That's not a bad idea at all and I'm kinda surprised no one had mentioned it yet

Oh Ryan L Billz, you're always on top of your game, I'll tell ya. I think the majority of the people on this site would keep all three if they could. I have already said that I would probably move EJ up to #2 based on his performance in the preseason. Is it a slam dunk that if Cassel and Manuel each got to play 16 games with this Bills team this season that Manuel would put up better numbers and lead them to more wins? I'm not so sure quite yet. Manuel had a GREAT preseason game. Cassel was better throughout camp. I'm not ready to anoint EJ anything just yet. You went from being an EJ cheerleader to a Cassel basher. You're like the kid in middle school who is mean to other kids because he doesn't feel all that good about himself. Everybody knows what Cassel is. A guy like that could come in handy in a long NFL season. The Cardinals could've sure used him last year.

Ideally I think they keep all three. If it really is a situation where they could re-sign another guy with the money they'd be saving then I'm all in for cutting him but why couldn't they just cut him after this season? It's not like if they re-signed Dareus now that his new contract would count against this year's cap? I have no idea how that stuff works to be honest.

This is the crux of the problem. No, that's really all I've ever said. The problem is that people keep putting words in my mouth. I am often times arguing with people who wouldn't even disagree with me if they actually read what I wrote. I say it's unlikely and then I get called a hater and am told I don't "support" him. My biggest contention was with the people who insisted "we couldn't possibly know anything about him" and that it's way too early to even have an opinion about him. My argument is that I have seen enough to have the opinion that it's unlikely. I still have that opinion. I hope he proves me wrong.

Read my response. I was never black and white about EJ. Dude we both like Vonnegut. God Bless You Mr. Rosewater is one of my all-time favorite books. Chill out for a second. You lost me there. Only three people have ever said he HAS a higher than 50% chance. So everyone except three people on this whole website were in agreement with me. Hey I'll admit he looked fantastic against Pittsburgh and his odds have increased in my book. Still not 50% though. You?

All I have ever said (here we go again) is that I believe it is/was less than likely that EJ develops into a franchise QB. I would say the same thing about Geno Smith. My issue is with people who laugh at Smith and then defend EJ. And I certainly never called him "garbage." I, like everyone else, am pleased with his development this offseason and have already conceded that coaching may be a bigger factor in his development than I previously thought. But how come no one in the history of TBD has ever said, "well wait a second, Blaine Gabbert kind of sucked this year but let's look at why- coaching, he's a project, etc." It's always just "well Blaine Gabbert sucks." Be objective guys.

This is what I know: As of two weeks ago, Cassel was Roman's guy and at that point, the favorite to start week 1. My suspicion is that Taylor was Ryan's guy as of a week or two ago and that was the debate. They must've loved what they saw in the Cleveland game from Taylor and that tipped the scale and Roman probably came around to the idea AND/OR Ryan said, "dude it's my call, I'm the head coach." Before the Pittsburgh game, the decision was already made. I know that EJ was not part of the equation to start within the last 2-3 weeks. Did he ever get a fair shot? I believe he did. I believe it truly was an open competition and that EJ simply fell too far behind in camp. I think it's very, very telling that even after the scrimmage (where EJ was OK and the "winner" by default), John Murphy, the biggest EJ homer of them all, said on his radio show "the other two guys really seem to be picking up this offense and getting better and I'm just not seeing it from EJ." I think you need to understand that camp very much factored into the decision as well.

People who don't see the value in a guy who can force a touchback almost every time when you have a FG kicker who was money last year (concerns about him so far this preseason) but can't kick it in the endzone vs. keeping a 7th linebacker who only plays special teams are utterly clueless. If said linebacker was responsible for saving 5-10 yards of field position every kickoff, perhaps I would consider keeping them around over Gay.

OK that's fair. Do you see what I'm saying though about a double standard round these parts? Bills fans are quick to mock and make up dopey nicknames for other QB's who have been in the league for a short period of time and haven't had their chance to develop, haven't had weapons at their disposal or exemplary coaching, yet will defend certain Bills QB's who I'm sure other teams' message boards mock just the same. Take Geno Smith and EJ Manuel for example. Just be objective is what I'm asking. But I do understand your point was ion regards to how good they might be right now vs. potential.

So you disagree with me? You think if Garrapalo (sp?) was entering his second season on the Bills, Bills fans would be like, "yeah he is not as good as Matt Cassel." He was a second round pick himself and looked pretty decent when he played last season. Or do you think maybe, just maybe, Bills fans would encourage people to be patient and see if he can develop. But instead, I'm fighting a crusade because I called out a guy for declaring that Matt Cassel is "better" than Jimmy Garrapalo (sp?)

Extatic? Look, you guys need to put away your jump to conclusions mats for a second. Cassel was better than Manuel throughout camp according to everyone. Did EJ look great against Pittsburgh? Absolutely. Was that enough to convince the coaches that he can translate that play to the regular season and that Cassel- who only played FOUR SERIES and didn't even look that bad himself- is expendable? I guess we'll see.
