I'd Look to Trade Cassell to Cowboys
metzelaars_lives replied to BuffaloBillsMagic1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People act like they don't have a QB on their roster. Weeden is a fine backup QB. There aren't any starters available. They knew/know Romo is injury prone, they wouldn't have kept him as their backup if they thought he was completely incapable. But yeah, Matt Cassel might fetch a 2nd round draft pick. -
This team is not making playoffs
metzelaars_lives replied to spoogy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So who is making the playoffs in the AFC? Obviously the Patriots, but beyond that who fills out the other five spots? The Dolphins, who lost against the Jaguars yesterday? The Ravens, who lost against Oakland yesterday? The Steelers, who got embarrassed and exposed by New England just like us? The Bengals, who still employ Andy Dalton as their QB and are undoubtedly due for a stinker? The Colts, who we smoked? The Broncos, who barely beat and couldn't even score a TD against the Ravens? The Chiefs, who sucked on Thursday night? The Chargers, who have been the same middling 9-7 team for how many years now? I mean, which of these teams is without flaws and would be 2-0 so far with our schedule? Let's see what happens next week. Huge game. Why did I even respond to this post? -
Crowd noise this Sunday? Guinness in the House!
metzelaars_lives replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Having gone to the last two games, I was definitely disappointed with the in-game production. Do they really need to play Chippewa club music between every single goddamn play? Look at the demographics in the stadium. It's not club goers. It's largely men between 25-55. How about some Seger or some freaking Stones or something? Or better yet, nothing. Do they really think that fans are so impatient that they need music to keep them interested for a few seconds between plays? -
"Experts" Picks - Week 2 vs the Pats
metzelaars_lives replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You stated a week go that an ideal scenario would be that Taylor plays so well that he is worth a first round pick and then they trade him so Manuel can start next season. I know other people saw this. So no, not delirious. Also, yes, of course that's true, I was just messing around. He has not reached the promised land as of yet. But I would argue that it was better than any game Manuel has played. Come on guys, where can I go for a good EJ debate these days? -
"Experts" Picks - Week 2 vs the Pats
metzelaars_lives replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey if Taylor keeps looking sharp, we may be well on our way to fulfilling your master plan of Taylor playing so well that he is worth a first round pick so we can trade him at the end of the season and wing it with Manuel next year. Hopefully this Sunday is another step in that direction. Gun to your head, who do you guys have? I got New England. 50.1/49.9. I'm taking them last in my confidence pool this week though. And I took the Bills last week. -
The first down bell at RWS
metzelaars_lives replied to QB Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I went to the game last week (going again this week, should be pretty mellow) and I noticed two things. One, you can barely hear the announcer on the introductions. In fact, I thought the same thing last year and I was sitting in a totally different part of the stadium. I remember when I was a kid, the announcer (I believe it was John Gurtler??) would say, "and at defensive end, from Virginia Tech, number 78..." and it was so loud. And number two, someone else had to notice how bizarre the introductions that you could hear actually were. They had this ridiculous drawn out intro for every player where they gave you a stat or something. For Jerome Felton, they said, "and at fullback, a player widely regarded throughout the league as the best at his position..." Did anyone else notice this? -
I think Peyton Manning is done

I coulda told you this after seeing him play in the preseason. The Peyton Manning we saw at the end of last season is who he is now. -

John Clayton Opinion Means Nothing
metzelaars_lives replied to HailMary's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Clearly you don't understand what I said. No one in the world WANTED Cassel as the starter ever. I wanted Taylor or Manuel to emerge like every other Bills fan. I said the smart money was on Cassel as of 2-3 months ago. Of course it was. That's why every last poll you saw ranking the qb's assumed Cassel as the Bills' starter. Please stop trying to paint me as a Cassel guy based on nothing I've ever said. -

Does Rex have a photo of his wifes feet on his desk?
metzelaars_lives replied to NoSaint's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude, a) yes, he's not hurting anyone and b) it's f'ing weird. These are not mutually exclusive concepts. Can you imagine if you were in college and your dad had a picture of your mom's feet on his desk in his office and a picture of it went viral? Well that's the reality for Rex Ryan's son. And again, yes, not hurting anyone. Better yet, could you imagine if you went into your boss's office and he had a picture of his wife's feet on his desk? That wouldn't be that weird to you? -
John Clayton Opinion Means Nothing
metzelaars_lives replied to HailMary's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who did you pick? I mean, if there was a Vegas favorite in June, it was Matt Cassel. If someone said they thought Matt Cassel would end up as the starter back in June, that does not discredit them in any way. Cassel was in the lead until the Cleveland game, at which point Taylor kind of nudged his way ahead. -
John Clayton Opinion Means Nothing
metzelaars_lives replied to HailMary's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anyone would've picked Cassel back in June. By default. Most people had Cassel until the Cleveland game. This is nothing. Ya know, the 'every sports writer, insider, talking head, columnist are all a bunch of hacks' narrative is SO freaking stale. -

No but I know someone who's interviewed him in his office and seen it. And are you serious or attempting to mock with your avatar? -

I have thought about starting a thread with this theme and a clip from the movie like five times but hadn't gotten around to it yet. It's applies perfectly to this never ending debate. -

Coming from the guy who in another thread an hour ago suggested that if Taylor has a breakout season that the Bills should trade him after the season for a first round draft pick and start Manuel next season. But yes agreed, let's move on. -

You have already emoji bowed down to another guy in this thread for insisting that people wouldn't support EJ if he was the Bills QB and playing well but now YOU have had enough. Got it. -
An open letter to EJ Fans
metzelaars_lives replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do you really think there are people who are such devoted fans of a football team that they spend countless hours a week on this website, that would not root for or "support" the QB of said football team if he was playing well and that football team was winning football games? When are you guys going to understand that this isn't personal? I am in the camp of people who are ardent Buffalo Bills fans, believe that there is a less than 50% chance that EJ Manuel develops into a franchise QB but would be thrilled if he did. Is anyone else in that camp? -

WSJ: Why the NFL has a Quarterback Crisis

Wait- if Taylor plays well enough that he is worth a first round pick- or more- then turn around and trade him and roll the dice on EJ Manuel? Good plan. For what it's worth, if Tyrod Taylor plays well enough this year that after the season his open market value is a first round pick then that means the Bills just won the Super Bowl. In which case, I probably wouldn't trade him.
