I never thought it was definitely backwards. I have always thought it was as close to perfectly straight as humanly possible. One thing is for certain: it wasn't definitely forward. It was pretty much the classic case of inconclusive. It would have been insane and the wrong call for the refs to overturn it. That's it.

Andrew Luck excuse thread
metzelaars_lives replied to 4merper4mer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not but you yourself have rated QB's simply based on wins and losses innumerable times on here. And Luck is 11-5 in each of his first three seasons in the league, playing with a faulty OL, no running game and virtually no defense. He has gotten off to a slow start this year, which has shocked the football world, including myself, as I took him fifth overall in my fantasy league. I will be even more shocked if he doesn't still develop into an all-time great QB. -

OK so what do you think happened on Sunday? Tell me what you think, not what Donaghy claimed about the NBA over a decade ago that was widely refuted. I mean, there's well over 100 refs in the NFL. Do you think they're all in on it? And you really believe that they would all happily fix games while making decent money when a) it's immoral, so you're also implying that every last NFL referee is OK with doing something that most people wouldn't do and b) that every last NFL ref happily makes $100K or whatever, when they could tell all and make way more. And that the NFL would entrust all these men with such a dark secret. -

Yeah that was one guy, not a massive conspiracy. If you tried telling me that one ref took money once, I wouldn't find that hard to believe at all. It sounds more like people are talking about the whole thing being fixed. And if the "NFL is fixed," who all is in on it? Are you saying that that main ref who made all those stupid calls against the Bills on Sunday (which I would agree with) fixed that game? Or are you saying that the league told the whole crew to make sure the Giants won? How deep does this run exactly? -

The NFL has a serious problem with penalties and the over-scrutiny of plays. It's not fixed. If it were fixed, it would take a large group of people being in on it. If a large group of people were in on it, one of them (one of the referees who make, what, maybe six figures?) would tell all. It's simply not feasible. -

If I was truly uninterested in The Bachelor, which I happen to be, I wouldn't waste my time on a website devoted only to The Bachelor and tell everyone how and why I don't like it. I would simply not watch it. -
Stat question...if a QB is running the ball

It's only not a sack on a designed run. -
Would you trade for Alshon Jeffrey?
metzelaars_lives replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be surprised if Alshon Jeffery was worth any less than a second round pick. I mean, he's a legit top ten receiver in the league entering his prime. I'm not sure missing a few games due to injury is going to affect his value all that much. He himself was drafted in the second round and he has exceeded expectations. -

Hey maybe if the Saints cut their guy who jut missed a 30 yarder, then we can sign him instead of Carpenter! -

Cornelius Bennett - HOF chances
metzelaars_lives replied to whiteboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Come on guys. Even if he had a HOF caliber career, which he didn't, there is no way the HOF makes room for a NINTH member of a team that failed to win a Super Bowl (Wilson, Levy, Polian, Kelly, Thomas, Reed, Lofton, Bruce). It was a good run. Time to move on. -

Credit where credit is due (Rodak)
metzelaars_lives replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Haha Rodak, what a clown! I just got back from traveling into the future and it turns out that Darby and Williams never have one off the field incident the rest of their long, fruitful NFL careers. Yeah, fleeing the scene of an accident, being present for and remaining silent about an alleged rape and assaulting pregnant girlfriends in college is all they ever did. So all of you speculating that they are in the clear after three weeks as pros and never have one off field transgression for the next decade are absolutely right. Again, Rodak- what a joke!! -

Jets vs. Fins, 10/4 - Who to root for?
metzelaars_lives replied to Wazzu Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I find it amusing that so many people would prefer a Dolphins victory. As if a) if we are really a playoff team that somehow a Jets week four victory over the Dolphins is gonna end up being the obstacle we just can't overcome and b) that it's not at least a 50% shot that five weeks from now the Dolphins are better than the Jets anyway. -
Cleveland Browns are a disaster...
metzelaars_lives replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bruce Smith got suspended for using cocaine, used to dance around the field like a buffoon and once fell asleep drunk at the wheel in the middle of an intersection in Virginia Beach. Jim Kelly was every last bit the hothead Johnny Manziel is (was?) The consensus seems to be that Manziel has grown up quite a bit and put his past behind him. Are you worried about Karlos Williams' alleged assault against his pregnant girlfriend in college affecting his play on Sunday? -
Cleveland Browns are a disaster...
metzelaars_lives replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So the verdict is already in on Johnny Manziel after, what, 3 games- the last of which he played fairly well in? Just making sure this board remains consistent with its evaluation of young, inexperienced first round QB's.
