  1. At least someone on here knows what they're talking about.
  2. Dude people have been playing hockey for a long time now. Has there ever been one hockey player ever- not including goons who all they did was fight- to sustain brain trauma after their career was over? Do you really think Maxim Afinogenov is at risk for CTE? Do you have any idea how many football players have brain issues from one extent to another? You're way out of your element on this one. Furthermore, do you really think Richie Incognito's helmet didn't make contact with other guys' helmets yesterday? Vegetable might be a strong word. But guys who play the gam like that will undoubtedly have CTE by the time it's all said and done, that I can assure you.
  3. No it's not, stop saying that. You clearly have not read anything about this issue. It's not about the one big hit that the safety lays on the receiver going across the middle- which can occur in hockey, even though it doesn't nearly as often and is rarely as violent. What it is about is the constant, repetitive, dull hits that the players in the trenches and the running backs sustain on every play. That doesn't exist in hockey or any other sport outside of boxing. I mean seven American kids have DIED playing football this year alone. How many high school hockey players have died playing hockey so far this year?
  4. So does volleyball. So does the debate team.
  5. Hey man, you should just let your kids do cocaine. Plenty of people have done cocaine and turned out just fine. Meanwhile, plenty of people get hit by a car walking across the street. Damn "wussification of America..."
  6. There is absolutely no way that any other sport, per capita, has more concussions than football. There was probably more than one concussion in the Bills game yesterday. Because you can also crack your skull ice skating, doesn't make bashing your helmet against other guys' helmets over a thousand times a year more or less dangerous. Sounds to me like you would be the type to make the "a guy killed someone else with a golf club one time, does that mean we should make golf clubs illegal?" argument. Playing football is bad for your head. Would I let my kid play high school football? Yes. Is a guy who plays football their whole life until they can't play anymore- like a Jason Witten or a Marshawn Lynch- gonna be a vegetable by the time they're 60? Probably, yes. This is why a quarterback who comes out now isn't at any more risk than someone playing any other sport to suffer a concussion. It is indeed safe for them. But there is absolutely no way to make the game safer for the guys who play in the trenches. Period.
  7. You could literally play an entire NHL season and not hit your head once. Every player in the trenches yesterday smashed their helmet against other giant guys' helmets over 50 times.
  8. But how can you label someone a "hater" when they were criticizing someone who, by and large, played poorly? We've never seen EJ Manuel win more games than he's lost and have the 4th best passer rating in the league so I think it's unfair to assume that anyone would nitpick his game if he was playing at that level. Again, are the people concerned with Carpenter right now "hating?" I honestly believe that no one on here had it out for EJ. Why would they? He was a first round pick, had the so-called tools and seemed like a great guy. Conversely, I think there are a handful of people who have it out for Taylor because they are still emotionally distraught from all the s**t they took from defending EJ til the bitter end and are desperate to say, "see? He's not perfect either."
  9. Which game? After his first game in 2013, everyone was impressed. After his first game in 2014, he was a decent game manager and they won a road game they were supposed to lose. After his first game this year, he was already firmly entrenched as the backup QB and there was no option behind him. So which game were people calling for EJ's benching after?
  10. You guys are just Dan Carpenter haters.
  11. I disagree completely. I think 95% of the people on this website are simply objective football fans who form honest opinions about what they see on the football field and hold no biases whatsoever. I didn't think EJ Manuel looked a starting NFL QB to me and was labeled a "hater" for it. I am encouraged by what I see from Taylor and have been called a "fanboi" for it. Guess what? I was right in both instances. If people were discouraged by what they saw in JP Losman after 2007, were they called "haters" around here? Honest question. How come no one ever calls out Seantrel Henderson "haters" after he has a poor performance? Am I just a Ronald Darby "fanboi?" Also something occurred to me yesterday- they showed Manuel on the sidelines and he was genuinely cheering on Taylor and I thought to myself, man I like this guy's attitude. I got so caught up in arguing with the nuts on this website that I maybe started to associate my frustration with them with EJ Manuel himself. I like Manuel a lot, he really seems like a good guy.
  12. The few brave souls who are still critical of Taylor are almost the exact same lot as the people who were still defending EJ til the bitter end. Many of them (with the exception of TYTT) have disappeared from this website since the game yesterday. Anyway, I want everyone to ask themselves a very simple question: do you really think that if EJ Manuel was 6-4 with 17 TD's and 4 INT's, 4th in the NFL in passer rating and 5th in the NFL in Y/A, that these guys would be nitpicking little things in EJ's game to be critical of?
  13. They did show the replay of the holding call on Brooks on CBS and it was non-existent. I can't believe someone said they thought that was a good call.
  14. You're right, he's wrong. But it would greatly enhance their chances if they won out. Despite what the projections said in my post above, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say 10-6, we're in, 9-7 (even if loss comes to NFC), we're out. The Steelers are too good.
  15. Not true at all. It was in the Buffalo News last week. If they go 10-6, they have a 78% chance of getting in and if they go 9-7 (with the loss being against an NFC opponent), they have a 67% chance of getting in. I'm sure it will be updated again this week. Steelers loss would be HUGE. You are correct sir. The Jets aren't really a concern. Even if we lose one, they could go 2-1 until our game and we would control our destiny against them. They can run the table until our game if we do and it still won't matter. They just can't get two games ahead of us. The Raiders are done. The Texans/Colts aren't a concern. If we lose enough games that a tiebreaker comes into play with either of them, we're done anyway. Plus one is gonna win the division. We can probably concede one spot to the Chiefs. It's all about the Steelers folks. The Steelers need to lose a game or two.
  16. I thought Mills was fine. Then again, I watch the ball after it is snapped so I have no idea how people are able to give a fair analysis on offensive linemen unless they re-watch the game and focus on everyone individually. I think people have a tendency to base their judgment of an offensive lineman on one or two replays they see. But as a general rule, the pass protection was fine- especially against that front seven- and there was plenty of room to run when they ran to the right. In fact, I'd be surprised if they don't just leave Mills in there next week even if Henderson is healthy.
  17. The guy has freaking 17 TD's and 4 INT's. The guy has freaking 17 TD's and 4 INT's. The people on this site who are still overly critical of Taylor are entering the Scientology realm of looney.
  18. While I would agree with you that a Tyrod Taylor is at an advantage vs., say, a year one EJ Manuel, I think it's ridiculous to think he has hit his prime or "ceiling" after nine career starts. As I keep trying to remind people, even though he sat for a few years, Aaron Rodgers was still better in his third year as a starter than he was in his first. Does anyone really believe that if we ride this thing out that Taylor can't be better a year from now than he is right now? By talking this way- and believe me, you're not the only one- you are pretty much telling everyone that you think sitting on the bench is every bit the valuable experience as is actually playing! And also, dude, "cease" the moment?
  19. The criticism of Taylor on this website absolutely blows my mind. I have a circle of incredibly knowledgeable Bills fans friends. Every single last one of them going into the 2014 season was like, "yeah I'm all for letting EJ loose this year and giving him a shot but gun to my head, I don't think it's happening for him." Then going into this year, to a man, everyone is like, "let's call a spade a spade- EJ sucks." You would think these opinions would be uncontroversial and blatantly obvious- especially considering they were RIGHT. But somehow in the world of TBD, these were/still are? controversial thoughts. Now fast forward to week 12 2015. These same people are saying, "hey I'm not necessarily sold on Taylor long term but man, after 9 starts, it's hard to complain. Think about our expectations at the QB position going into the season- the guy has obviously exceeded our wildest dreams. His numbers are fantastic, he doesn't make the big mistake, could he let loose a little more? Absolutely. But 9 games in, I'm encouraged by what I see." Once again, you would think that these would be uncontroversial opinions to have but in the magical world of TBD, these are borderline outspoken opinions. It is comforting knowing that once again, they are the CORRECT opinions. Am I guaranteeing that he is the long term answer? NO. But anyone who is not encouraged by his production so far needs to have their head examined. And the ultimate irony is that the majority of the people who are nitpicking Taylor's game after 9 starts are the SAME EXACT PEOPLE who were still holding out hope for you know who after 15 starts. It's beyond comical. I rest my case.
  20. Yes because of the fact that every franchise QB in NFL history hasn't had a winning record every single season of their career, you have proven that franchise QB's aren't important.
  21. I think some are under the false impression that the only reason others would label Manuel a "bust" is because of the INT vs. Watt. He could've had a good game against Houston last year and he would still be EJ Manuel. Likewise, Taylor could have a poor game against Houston and he will have still shown enough this year for many to be encouraged.
  22. Really? I came on here to see if I could find out who this McGillicutty character is and this is what this tread has come to?
  23. I'm going to pre-emptively note that the Bills' OL, despite everyone saying so every season whether they are actually good or not, does not suck this year. The left side of our line is one of the very best in all of football. The right side, not so much. But not everyone has five good starters left to right every year. Classic example of Bills fans scrutinizing our guys' every play and then basing their ideas about other teams on what they understand to be true. Carry on. Re-signing Glenn and Incognito is a HUGE priority.
  24. Miscommunication. I would say though, that he's only had a hand in the 5-4 part. Tony Romo really doesn't have much of a hand in Dallas being 3-8.
  25. Who is Bill and what did he do? But yes, this is twice this season he's been right.
