  1. The Bills literally could've won the Super Bowl this season if their defense played the way it did in 2014. I absolutely believe that.
  2. EJ blows. Whaley has been excellent. Rex Ryan TBD but every reason to be skeptical. Roman had a great year as a coordinator. Taylor great first year as starter. Defense needs a lot of help. 8-8.
  3. Yeah well it may not have been a great game but it was still a big litmus test for Tyrod Taylor. He came in with the game on the line for Team Rice, the whole world was watching, it was his big moment and he failed to deliver. I was encouraged by some of the progress he had made throughout the season but his performance against Team Irvin in Honolulu just shattered any confidence he may have had. You could clearly see he was a broken, defeated man afterwards. I just hope he's able to shake off that loss in time for the regular season. Though I feel the damage from Team Rice's loss may be something he is simply never able to recover from. I guess we'll see. Ths baseball all star game is great. The other three are garbage. It's funny cause when I was a kid, the other three were not a complete joke at all but they have each steadily regressed. Meanwhile the baseball all star game has still totally maintained its dignity. The homefield for the World Series thing is kinda silly but it takes nothing away from the game itself.
  4. Good post. Really everything you said could apply to the United States in general. It's why Bernie Sanders is polling higher than anyone would've expected. Agree with this as well. While they do have a responsibility to try and make the game safer, it will always be football and there will always be risks involved. Tweaking little things like eliminating kickoffs and making it two hand touch on QB's doesn't solve the problem.
  5. Can we please stop doing the "experts" in quotes thing? They are experts. They are the ones who come up with the framework of where people are projected to go. Because they don't get every single pick right does not discredit their work. I would have no idea who the first round guys were right now if not for the experts. Thank you.
  6. I really wish Sullivan could see this and understand how he is perceived by the fans. It's one thing to be objective and tell it like it is but he is so far beyond that. It's blatantly obvious that he thrives on negativity. He just comes off as such a jerk. And the funny thing is, Bucky Gleason totally sweats him and wants so very badly to become the a**hole heir apparent.
  7. Why? Assuming they re-sign Glenn and Incognito, WR is a bigger concern than OL. Our OL was good this year. Our WR's were not good this year (excluding Watkins of course). A serviceable RT is a hell of a lot easier to find than a Martavis Bryant.
  8. Yes. To insinuate that JP Losman, Trent Edwards or EJ Manuel ever sniffed the level of play that Tyrod Taylor attained this season is ridiculous. A game or two here or there for Losman and Edwards, perhaps. But you cannot fluke your way to the numbers Taylor put up this year. Taylor had at least 4 or 5 games which would have been as good as either of those two guys ever played and certainly better than Manuel ever played. Nick Foles once threw for 27 TD's and 2 INT's. Nick Foles sucks. Taylor could regress next year too. But the year when Foles threw 27 TD's and 2 INT's he was really good. It's not like he sucked that year and magically ended up with 27 TD's and 2 INT's. At the end of the day, Taylor had a pretty damn good year, particularly for a first year starter. I've said it before but more people need to hear it: if Taylor was considered a rookie this year, he would have waltzed away with the offensive rookie of the year award. Think about that for a second. I'm so sick of people acting like he should be judged like a guy who just completed his fifth year as a starter. He should be judged more like a rookie than a fifth year starter.
  9. This. Thank you. Let's go draft Carson Wentz in the hopes that he might be a hall of famer and let him to develop for a few years, even if we have to endure his growing pains, finish below .500 and then the odds are that he won't even be as good as Tyrod Taylor, let a lone a top 5 QB. We got a freaking decent QB. For once. Let's just be happy, give him that offseason to work with his WR's, learn the offense more, open things up. If he regresses, fine, then you start over. But anyone insisting we need to take a QB in the first round this year, doesn't get it I'm afraid.
  10. The Bills finished way higher than the Broncos is both yards and scoring. I know, as it's been pointed out over and over, that they only scored 13 points in the one Monday night game. When they played them at home, they scored 32. The Broncos had multiple games where their offense couldn't even score a TD or barely scored at all and still won on the strength of their defense. Again, their defense is REALLY good. Good enough that Tyrod Taylor could have led them to the Super Bowl if 9 TD's to 17 INT's, including 1 home TD pass in 6 home games Peyton Manning could lead them there.
  11. I'll tell you two things: number one, Tyrod Taylor, whether you like him or not, played at a much higher level than the Broncos QB's did all season. Number two, if the Bills had the number one defense in yards and points allowed and scored as many points as the Broncos defense did this year, the Bills would've coasted to the Super Bow themselves. Ya know, defense counts too. For the millionth time, Trent Edwards' best game as a pro was the week AFTER the Cardinals game.
  12. Yeah I think we all know where this thread is heading. Here's what I think: I am optimistic about Taylor. That being said, I would not be shocked if he regresses in year 2 and it becomes clear he is not the answer. But I think this team is very talented and I absolutely think Taylor is/will be at least good enough to get this team to the playoffs if Rex can get the defense in check. Ideally, I want a LB in Round 1- inside or out, we need both. Is Taylor ever going to be a top 5 QB? I don't know, probably not. Top 10, maybe. Top 15? I think he might already be. And it's entirely ignorant to think that with a whole offseason as the starter that he can't improve. Listen, I don't know if we'll ever win a Super Bowl with the guy but at this point, I just want to make the playoffs. And he can certainly get us there. Oh and P.S. to the strangely and abnormally anti-Taylor posse who call him out for falling short of the payoffs this year- he'd be playing on Sunday if he was the Broncos' QB this year. Easily. Give Rex a year to see if he can make this "scheme" I keep hearing about function the way it did in NY. If he can, we'll be just fine with Tyrod Taylor as our QB.
  13. This is a ridiculous post. If it weren't for guys like Kiper and McShay you wouldn't even know where to begin. It would be impossible for anyone to get the draft "75% right." But because of guys like them you have a good idea who's gonna go in what round. Did you "mock" the "experts" when the Bills took Donte Whitner 8th overall? If so, you were mocking the wrong party. He specifically said "if they can clear him" in the article. Correct.
  14. Jerry Sullivan is a dick and I am not a fan of his as a sportswriter. I agree with virtually everything he says in this particular column.
  15. I don't think he's grandstanding. You think he's grandstanding because he has tainted the innocence of the game you and I both love so much and you resent him for it. He's just trying to make people aware of the dangers.
  16. Agreed 100%. What, if a doctor Makes a breakthrough discovery is he supposed to not share with anyone lest he be labeled an "attention seeker" by some anonymous guy on some website? Sorry if the guy wants young men to be aware of the risks before playing football. What an a**hole. I'm sure OJ probably does have CTE.
  17. So you're not ready to say that playing professional football for an extended period of time increases one's likelihood of developing symptoms of CTE? If you had to guess would you guess it does? I would guess that it does. Call me crazy.
  18. And of course there are a few people questioning the validity of studies and arguing that we can't know for sure that there is a direct causal correlation between bashing heads together for 25 years of one's life and CTE. Why would I expect anything different? I guess we don't know for sure that smoking causes lung cancer; we only know there is a correlation between smoking and lung cancer. When it comes to suicide and depression though, I would contend that being out of the spotlight, not being able to play football anymore and standing there at age 30 not knowing what to do with yourself is probably a huge contributing factor as well.
  19. Tyson Fury is pretty much the unified champ. Believe me when I tell you he is no Muhammad Ali.
  20. Yeah but I feel like by the time that Cardinals team made the Super Bowl that they were a formidable foe. Plus it was a hell of a game so I wouldn't really consider them. I think to be considered you have to have been an average regular season team AND get smoked in the game.
  21. That Falcons team was very good. I believe they were 14-2. And I think you are disqualified from the conversation if you actually win the Super Bowl. But yes, I think the '85 Patriots and '94 Chargers have to be at the top of the list. Of course they were. That is why Jaworski is wrong.
  22. Yeah that and 49ers-Chargers, which somebody else brought up have to be 1-1A. Weren't the Chargers like 18 point underdogs? They were such a random, unassuming Super Bowl team, having shocked the Steelers in the AFC Championship game. Meanwhile, that 49ers team was absolutely unstoppable.
  23. Two different conversations going on here. The Bills team that lost to the Redskins sucked that day but the 1991 Bills were a hell of a team. It was probably the best of those Bills teams (certainly '90 or '91). I think the conversation is more about teams that simply weren't that good going into the game. Yes but the 2013 Broncos were an excellent football team. They were favored in the game.
  24. That's a good one too. How about the Kerry Collins-led Giants?
  25. The Steve Grogan/Tony Eason Pats team may have been the most undeserving Super Bowl participant in history. I could go with that.
