  1. Jeff Garcia was really good for a few years. If Rex can get his defense in order (top 10) then this team could win a Super Bowl with Jeff Garcia-in-his-prime level play.
  2. According to a handful of people on this website, his ceiling is actually below the level he was playing at last season.
  3. Count me in the 'I wouldn't normally advocate swapping coaches every two years because that's what losing franchises do and I am an eternal Bills optimist and always give the team and its coaches the benefit of the doubt but I'm already over Rex Ryan and believe him to be a total and utter clown and would be willing to make an exception for him if they don't make the playoffs this season' crowd.
  4. Sorry, can't scientifically prove a link... wussification of America... other sports just as dangerous... war on Christmas... still skeptical about climate change... and gravity...
  5. Good to see they included Cannibal Corpse in there. Now we're talkin proud.
  6. I think at the end of the day, the answer really is, who cares?
  7. 5.6 yards/carry should knock your socks off. The thing that I think most people overlook though, is that it's easier to put up gaudy ypc numbers in spot duty/as a role player. He was far more effective last year as a change of pace back to a healthy McCoy as opposed to when he was the clear cut starter and got 20 carries a game. Very few guys can take 20 carries a game and be consistently effective (even though they may not average 5.6 ypc) and that is why McCoy is a special back. As a 1-2 punch when they're both fully healthy they're amazing together. We really need them both to stay healthy.
  8. Too bad he'll never be able to fill the shoes of his predecessor, TJ Graham.
  9. As someone who has actually had Crohn's Disease since the early 90's, I would be willing to bet that as long as he takes care of himself, he will be just fine.
  10. That's funny. I love the Bills more than just about anything in the world and will often times fall asleep to old playoff games. But could you ever imagine throwing on a Super Bowl to watch? I think the only one that would even interest me whatsoever is the first one.
  11. Everyone always talks about how we didn't address the OL in the draft, etc. In the previous two seasons alone, we took CK, Richardson, Henderson and Miller. Give these guys a minute to develop, would ya? People act as if using a third round pick on a guy automatically means "situation addressed." Most smart people, including the Bills' staff, expect Miller to be better this year. Henderson was pretty good for a rookie in 2014. I think the expectation is that between Henderson and Mills, one of them will work out. And sure, if the right vet is cut, of course you give them a look. But I am not one of these "obtuse optimists." Virtually any way you look at it, the Bills had one of the best OL's in football last year. Yet TBD fallacy #1: The Bills' offensive line always sucks, lives on...
  12. Jordan Mills has started in this league and wasn't even that bad last year. He's an above average backup at worst. The left side of our line is as good as any in football. At no point last year, as I watched every snap, did I feel like either side of the offensive line was a major issue. Can the Bills generate a pass rush? Can Tyrod Taylor take another step forward? Can Sammy Watkins stay healthy? These are actual issues. Please everyone, stop trying to create this offensive line issue. There is none. They'll be fine. They have one of the better lines in the whole league. With the possible exception of the Cowboys, no one has five awesome starters on their OL. Every team has a Jordan Mills starting. Just let it go people.
  13. Swear to God, didn't google. Rod Smart and, I believe, the Eagles?
  14. This statistic is basically a measure of your "bend-but-not-break-edness." If you had two defenses who each gave up the same number of points but one team gave up way less yards, then the team that gave up way more yards would have a way better YPPT. Which one is a better defense? You act like Rex is somehow trying to deceive people by talking about where his defenses "ranked." In the 30+ years I've been a football fan, when anyone says this or that team has the whatever-th ranked offense or defense, they're talking about yards. Period. Points allowed is just as good (and probably a better) measure than points. But YPPT is useless and here's why: You could have a team give up an historic amount of yards and only the 7th most points. They could have an excellent YPPT. You could have a team give up historically few yards and allow the 7th fewest points and their YPPT could suck. It just doesn't matter man. As an earlier poster said, just stick with where his defenses ranked in yards and points allowed. That tells enough of the story.
  15. Spring of my senior year in college, we used to pregame to the XFL on mute/tunes. It wasn't a bad scene at all.
  16. If you give up the least yards, it only stands to reason that your YPPT would be hardest to keep low. If you gave up a s**t ton of yards and a lot of points as well, your YPPT would be average. Why don't you just tell us where his Jets defenses ranked in terms of total points allowed. This is a relatively meaningless statistic.
  17. Don't we already have like five middling, scrap heap, journeymen veteran wide receivers? I'm sure one of them will be fine.
  18. Agreed 100%. Was just skimming other teams' rosters and pretty much every other team has all these sick backups at like every position except us.
  19. That should pretty much end the thread right there you would think.
  20. No it's not. I've already said it's a complicated issue and I can see both sides. I think most smart people can. But yes, abyone who dismisses this one as "PC run amok" is being pretty insensitive themselves. But to be honest, I don't really care that much about this particular issue. That's fair, yes, I totally agree. A staunch liberal myself, I cannot argue with a conservative who calls out black lives matter folks for getting all worked up over 5-10 acts of violence a year by cops when that many people get killed in one weekend in Chicago. They're right. So yeah, more people- white people worked up over this to be specific- should visit a rez and try and put this issue into proper perspective. All fair. Still doesn't change how I feel about this issue though.
  21. What does the amount of media attention have anything to do with anything? It is a hot button topic, as evidenced by this thread. Was Casey Anthony killing her daughter the most "important" issue of whatever year that was? There is little to no correlation between how important an issue is and how much media attention it gets. Blame the media if you want.
  22. No one on planet Earth- Native Americans or otherwise- thinks that the name 'Washington Redskins' is a greater problem in the Native American community than poverty and alcoholism. Like zero people.
  23. The thing that I would say is that I'm sure as generations go by, new generations probably don't care as much. I have spent lots of time on probably the most prominent reservation in the country (Pine Ridge, SD) and I can tell you that all the kids all listen to hip hop and love basketball and football. Sadly, very few are concerned with preserving their culture and traditions. I'm sure if you asked most 17-year old kids on the rez, they are way more interested in the NFL than reading or caring about the history of Geronimo. Conversely, I'm sure if you polled tribal leaders who oversee sweat lodges every week, that percentage would me much, much higher. It would shock me if it wasn't over 50%. That being said, no one is saying it's the equivalent of the n-word or anything like that (probably more the equivalent of "negroes"- imagine that for a team name). It's just like, "hey guys, we were here for 70,000 years and within a century you pretty much wiped us off the planet with genocidal warfare and lies, etc. Though some of us remain proud, we have been reduced to a rather pathetic lot. Do you really have to use our likeness for your silly game? And if you are, that is not what we call or ever called ourselves." This is a complicated one guys. As a liberal, I can even see the argument to keep it. When the team was named, it was a very different time and I am positive the intent was a good one. But the folks who oversimplify this matter with the "PC police" stuff- even it IS only 10% (which it isn't), that's still a lot of people. Think of how much of a jerk you would sound to them. I'm sure if you sat with an elder or two who did disapprove of the name for a night, they might be able to help you see their side of the argument.
