The Big White elephant in the Room
metzelaars_lives replied to Bills99999's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can kind of hear ya aside from the Irish part. Even if you said white and Christian. But who the hell gives a s*** if the QB is Irish? Maybe Fitzpatrick is only a quarter Irish. Being from Harvard, I would guess that being as smart as he is, he realizes how preposterous the concept of organized religion is. This looks more like a crayonz post than anything... -
ESPN's Power Rankings Week 15
metzelaars_lives replied to Dorkington's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So this is what it's come to as a Bills fan. Disputing that we should be 27th in ESPN's power rankings instead of 28th. -
I appreciate your time and effort, but the only guy I've heard of is Fairley and I think he'll be gone by the time we pick so I can't really offer any feedback.

Yes.

I come on here all the time and this may be the douchiest comment I've ever seen on this website.

Chan Gailey has done it again.

If by light years, you mean one year, then you'd be correct. Where do the Bills rank since Week 3 in overall yardage, points and TD's? I'd say we've got to be middle of the pack. If we're not, I'm extremely confident they'll be at least as good next year, hopefully better. -
What if the Panthers DON'T draft Luck

And I say this with a staunch record of unblemished heterosexuality, but it just occurred to me this weekend that Cam Newton is in fact, a handsome man. -
Wife and I are not going to the game Sunday.

We had the best time at your party. The wife and I thank you very much. -

Isn't Fairley an interior lineman? One of the few positions we're set at between Williams and Troup? -
Grown @$$ Men fighting over a GAME
metzelaars_lives replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was at that game. I met a few Bills fans tailgating and one guy was so hammered I couldn't believe he was alive. He just kept shotguning beers. He could barley walk. I have seen a lot of drunk people in my time. He was by far the most drunk. His friends kept calling him Frank the Tank... Was that you? Oh my God! Yes, that was my brother! He was probably skins at the time, but was wearing a Hansen jersey for most of the game. The amazing thing is that me and my other friend got arrested and my brother didn't. I was wearing a Sabres jersey if you remember. My brother ended up passed out in the middle of downtown San Diego while I was still in jail and no one could find him for an hour. Eventually he had to be helped to his room in what my friends described as 'Weekend at Bernie's style.' You have no idea how funny this is gonna be when I show your post to my friends who were at that game. To this day, that is the most legendary road trip I've ever been a part of. That doesn't even touch on Mission Beach the day/night before and Hollywood Thursday night! You have made my day. And incidentally, we weren't calling him Frank the Tank, that was the circle of 30 people gathered around him in as he destroyed every Chargers fan in his path in shotguning contests! Amazing! -

You've had a problem in San Diego!?! In '05, I got cuffed for absolutely no reason whatsoever walking into the game, thrown in the drunk tank, taken downtown to detox, arrested in detox (that was my fault) and then spent 12 hours in SDCJ. Good thing they lost 42-10. Still a great trip though. -
The Grass Isn't Greener Over There
metzelaars_lives replied to whodat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude I live in Denver. Who is a better team right now is disputable, although I'd lean strongly toward Buffalo. What I can assure you however, is that Denver is completely and utterly directionless and completely without any sort of identity whatsoever. I don't think you could say the same about the Bills right now. We are one year ahead of them in the sense that we accepted that we are in a rebuilding phase, which Denver has yet to do, but will have to under the new coach. The grass is definitely greener in Buffalo than Denver (literally and figuratively). Yes, they do have one pass rusher who had one very good season though. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
metzelaars_lives replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Spiller run over a DB on one of his runs? What the hell did he do wrong today? He was one of the lone bright spots out there. He is the least of our problems. He's gonna be a good back in this league. How quickly we forget how insane he looked in the preseason. He hasn't gotten the touches yet this year to really get into a good rhythm. I am confident that if he got 20-25 carries against an average opponent, he would break out and gain some much-needed confidence. Be patient. -
How does Andre Johnson get so open?
metzelaars_lives replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was gonna say who could you even "argue," but I guess Roddy White has made a case as of late. But yeah, Johnson has been the best receiver in the NFL for a while. Big, strong, fast, physical and sure-handed. He'd probably be a better OLB than Aaron Maybin. -
Yeah but the other team spends an average of two of those minutes kneeling.

Edwards/Fitzpatrick

Alright people I was kidding, calm down. At any rate, I love your Steve Tasker quote, that was truly amazing. That was against Cincinnati, right? -

What? Cornell Green was awful. Some people are clueless. -
Edwards/Fitzpatrick
metzelaars_lives replied to metzelaars_lives's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude, Edwards was a 3rd round pick, Fitzpatrick was a 7th round pick. That should tell you something about their potential right there. -
With Fitzpatrick's recent resurgence under Gailey, I can't help but wonder what Edwards would be doing right now if they would have been a little more patient with him. I still think the kid has all the physical tools and he went to Stanford so we know he's capable mentally to play quarterback in the NFL. I say we try and bring him back at some point- perhaps not until after the season as I realize Fitzpatrick has a nice rhythm going right now. But next year I'd like to see the job handed back to Edwards and see what this kid can do with an offense that can actually function. It will probably require re-structuring his contract as I'm sure we could get him pretty cheap right now. Not to mention this would solve the long-term question at QB and we could focus strictly on defense in the first round. It's almost too simple. Git r' done Buddy!

Have we won some exposure for next year?
metzelaars_lives replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude, the Broncos got their annual Monday night game this year and will probably get another one next year even though they are a worse team and have much less of an identity than do the Bills. The Bills got those Monday night games vs. the Cowboys and the Browns even when they sucked. Wouldn't be surprised to see a night game at the Ralph early next season. -
He's the best. This team is awesome right now. I was just talking to my bro about it last night- even the last few years when they'd WIN games, they were still miserable and unlikeable! Think at Miami 2007, at Carolina last year, at the Jets last year, etc., etc. Even in defeat, you can't help but love the direction of this team. Their offensive line, after last week's game is OFFICIALLY GOOD RIGHT NOW! They've given up 16 sacks in 9 games since Fitzpatrick took over. That aint too bad for a team that passes almost every play. After I walked out of the Green Bay game after week 2, I was embarrassed to be wearing my Bills jersey and now I can't wait to go to the New England game and sport my Leonard Smith jersey once again!

Teammates yes, but you? So if they made less tackles, they'd be better?
