WECK 1230 vs. WGR 550
metzelaars_lives replied to HankBulloughMellencamp's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you don't think that Bill Maher and say, Rachel Maddow, have more worldly knowledge than Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin for that matter, I'm not really sure what to tell ya. And yes, as a very general rule, someone who went to Cornell double-majoring in English and History is going to bring more to the proverbial table than someone who was addicted to drugs, contemplated suicide and dropped out of college his freshman year. That's not being an elitist, that's being a rational human being. -

I just said I don't necessarily find Maher all that funny. You called him an elitist and I said I think it's ridiculous that we criticize people for being intellectual in America in 2011. Oh Maher went to Cornell and knows a lot, what a jerk. Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck, neither ever graduated from college (I don't think Beck ever even went). Sarah Palin- I probably could've beat her in Jeopardy when I was in 7th grade. Now those are men/women of the people, aren't they? They really represent the working class blue-collar folk, shame on these elitists. -

I think the crew right now is awesome. Definitely best it's been since I was a kid and it was Frank, Al and Dan. Although they do not have the comedian, but they didn't then either. -

Buftex I'm just glad we're not the only ones out there. I agree with you on almost every point. I have seen every episode of Maher since he came to HBO, I watch it religiously. Of course, I'm sure Dwight in Philly has never watched it once. I agree that his monologue rarely makes me so much as chuckle, but the show itself is thoroughly informative. He ALWAYS plays devil's advocate, he ALWAYS calls out the Democrats for having no balls and not standing up for themselves and he ALWAYS at least tries to get a balanced panel. Next to Meet the Press it regularly has the most credile panel of any politically-oriented news show on television. One of the things Maher always harps on is how in the world did beig smart become a bad thing? Calling someone out for being an elitist because they went to grad school, actually believe in science instead of Pat Robertson, etc. In other western countries, intelligence is celebrated and people actually defer to the smartst people. In our country, the Sarah Palins smugly look down upon smart people and call them "elitists." Ahh, the Republican marketing machine, so successful over the last 30 years, I'm very jealous and I mean that sincerely. Republican, Democrat, I don't care, Dennis Miller is not funny, he is not personable, him and O'Reilly can have eachother. And if you're going around calling people elitists, I am quite certain you probably get, what 2% of his preposterous references and laugh anyway. peace, Metz -
I would too. I really wanted to go to the Packers-Vikings game this year just to see the reaction to Favre because he was such a controversial figure at Lambeau. Everybody had an opinion on him. Remember how loud it got when they showed the highlight of him getting picked in the endzone against the Dolphins? The place went nuts.

OK, let's cut the BS, who is the chick in your avatar?

Awesome fans: 1. Green Bay 2. KC 3. Seattle

I just wanted to say thank you for being the best fans ever. We went to Bills-Packers this year and I felt like an idiot for going around telling everybody here in Denver that the Bills have the best fans. Don't get me wrong, I'm Bills for life, but at Rich Stadium there are 10,000 too many young punks who wouldn't be able to afford a ticket to any other stadium in the league with chinstrap beards, funneling beers, cranking R&B out of their parents' SUV, looking to fight anyone with an opposing jersey, who have never even heard of Kent Hull. If you have never been to Green Bay (or KC for that matter, whose fans are also vastly superior to ours), you cannot criticize this post. The fans there would literally come up to you and say, "Oh you guys are Bills fans? Welcome to Green Bay! Can we get you anything to eat? Make sure you check out the museum while you're in town. You should try and head into the game a little early, there's gonna be a flyover today. Well it was really nice meeting you guys, good luck today!" Really put things in perspective. I'd take Lambeau over Yankee Stadium X Fenway X Wrigley in a heartbeat. If you've never been, GO NOW, because no matter how much you think you "get" the Packers and their fans, you don't until you've been there. -Metz

I think a lot of you are overlooking Maybin. Don't forget, he came out after his Sophomore season, so last year still would've been his Senior season. Are we ready to give up on an 11th overall talent just yet? I'm certainly not. Don't forget, he is the quarterback cravin' defensive Wes Craven.

Bills announce uniform change

It went over real well for the Sabres, so I say go for it. -
I am done buying jerseys of players who still play on the team. I hated walking out of the game or the sports bar wearing my stupid Lee Evans jersey after an embarrassing loss in which he had like 1 catch for 9 yards. Thus, I bought a Leonard Smith jersey off of ebay. Problem solved. Even if the Bills suck, Leonard Smith was still awesome and it's still a sick jersey.

Yeah I love him. Obviously.

That's funny. I had a very vivid dream 2 nights ago where I was talking to Bill Belichick and he was telling me that he was all about Cam Newton and then the Patriots traded up to get Cam Newton and as soon as I knew Belichick was all about Newton, I knew that he would be good. I woke up more adamently pro-Newton than I was prior to this dream. Football is clearly way too big a part of our lives I guess.

No Davonte Shannon? Two other UB players- Josh and Dan Thomas. I don't follow UB football, but I thought Shannon was pretty good? I'm Griffs for life. Could make some noise in the MAAC tourney... -
vegas odds to win 2012 Super Bowl

This is just one book, but I'd lay a cool G on New England at 8:1 especially with all their draft picks this year. Ya know what's funny is that Denver is at 60:1 while we're at 100:1. As a team, I'd say we're probably a year ahead of them because we acknowledged we were re-building a year before they did. There's no way they're in any better shape than us. The only reason they have better odds is because they're the Broncos and we're, well, the Bills. -
ATDHE.net and channelsurfing.net seized by government
metzelaars_lives replied to Fezmid's topic in Off the Wall Archives
So according to literally MOST of the people on this thread, anytime our pinko commie government invests any time doing anything that doesn't involve fighting for freedom and fighting against terror, then they are wasting our hard-earned money. So even though this is thievery and clearly wrong (I know your Jesus wouldn't be in favor of it), it's wrong of the government to pay any attention to it because it doesn't involve terrorists. Right. And I love how you act as if this has diverted all this time and energy and tax-payers money. They probably had some intern take care of it. I'm sure Obama himself has no idea what this stupid website is. You people listen to entirely too much apocalyptic scare tactic news programs. -

Exactly. I thought the Republicans are all about "workin for a livin, earnin everything they get, no handouts..." but somehow are all about getting illegal free NFL games on their computer without paying like the rest of us who get the ticket or watch games at a sports bar. The guy/administration can't win for losin with the idiots of this country. Then again these are the same people who proclaim to support American jobs, blue collar workers, etc. and then vote to further empower and de-regulate private American companies who then move more jobs to foreign countries right in front of their faces, but they're too stupid to realize what's going on. -

I knew this was going to turn into thread of idiots before I opened up. How predictable- a website which illegally streamed sporting events, which hard working people have to pay for via cable TV or going to a sports bar, and now Obama is a Socialist. As if Obama himself has spent countless hours worrying about this. -

Why the Bills will go QB instead of DT @ pick # 3
metzelaars_lives replied to Bill4Life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I definitely agree that it is a lot easier to sign a big-time LB in FA than a QB and anyone who says otherwise is just playing devil's advocate. I was with you until #3 when you try to minimize Luck's talents. He is/will be the highest touted QB prospect maybe ever. I'm not against drafting a QB though, as long as they believe he is THE MAN and not taking one for the sake of taking one, which I trust they won't do anyway. Bottom line, they won't be picking first in 2012, so they can't not take Gabbert or whoever, banking on taking Luck next year. -
For being your top two favorite guitarists to ever live, I'm surprised you misspelled them. That being said, assuming Fairley and Bowers go 1-2, I'm all about Quinn at 3. Top 3 local establishments to frequent when I'm home for a week: 1. Mighty Taco at Transit & Casey 2. Sundowner 3. Jim's Steakout next to Heenan's* *at 4 AM; next day completely ruined
