I wouldn't go that far, but I agree. I've been a Bills fan for long enough to know that they could never get that lucky. I really think they have the makings of a good young roster and if I was pressed and had to be as objective as possible, I'd say they win 6 games this year. Not what it takes to get Luck.

Actually I am optimistic about Coleman and Batten hasn't even played yet. Have you been able to ascertain that he won't be quality depth? As far as Maybin, he won't make it til the first preseason game.

Bills Shopping Lee Evans?
metzelaars_lives replied to WickedGame's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right because Bill Belichick is someone who is going to say, "actually we're not really that concerned with Lee Evans." I think you were being sarcastic anyway. Throughout all the thrashings over the years, he always talks about the Bills and I'm sure every other team they play like they're super bowl contenders. That's why he's Bill Belichick. -
over/under on Shawne Merriman getting injured
metzelaars_lives replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is all based on the premise that he makes it to the first practice without getting injured first. I say he suffers a season ending injury in Week 2. I have actually had the conversation with my friends- what is the % chance that Merriman plays in 16 games this season and is productive. I would say somewhere between 5 and 10%. Definitely closer to 5%. Yet so much depends on him staying healthy. -
Bills Shopping Lee Evans?

OK. Name another receiver in the NFL who is really good and puts up pedestrian numbers. The reason Stevie Johnson put up better numbers last year is because HE IS BETTER. Despite the fact that he has some growing up to do, he is ridculously good at creating space. Name another example in the NFL where there is a receiver who puts up TWICE the numbers as another receiver on his team despite the fact that the other guy is actually a better receiver. You could put Felton Huggins and Paul Hubbard in a 3 receiver set with an actual elite receiver and he'll still put up big numbers. Stop enabling him. If Stevie Johnson gave all his credit to Lee Evans, he is just being polite and paying homage to the veteran. -

No you don't. If the guy was a baller, he'd put up baller numbers. Period end of story. -

I am so sick of people making excuses for Lee Evans talking about how he gets double-teamed, thus his numbers are deceivingly low. Remember when he had a monster year in '06? The #2 WR that year was a recycled, running-on-fumes Peerless Price and his QB was Jonathan Paul. There is not one other WR in the NFL that puts up bad numbers and gets excuses made for them like this. Your numbers are a direct reflection of how good you are. Give or take- obviously Fitzgerald's numbers when down last year and Ochocinco's numbers will go up this year, but as a very general rule that is the case. The guy now puts up about 500 yards a year. That is Lee Evans. No better, no worse. -
Yeah and prior to Fitzpatrick they had a penchant for quarterbacks who play like Clay Aiken.

Strong chance that the Jets

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Evans does not have 80 catches and 16 TD's in his last 8 meetings against the Jets. -
Florence re-ups with Bills, 3 years 15M reported
metzelaars_lives replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doesn't it say something when the Bills and Jets are making (presumably) comparable offers to a guy- one to be their #1 corner, the other to be their 3rd or 4th corner. -
What's your favorite moment....
metzelaars_lives replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills-Seahawks 2004 was epic. Bills-Broncos 2008 was awesome because we partied very effectively and it was a great day and they won even though they were already out of it. Bills-Packers last year even though they got smoked, Lambeau was unbelievable. Overall, the '04 run was pretty sweet although of course they blew it in the last week. OK correction- the single greatest moment in the last decade is without a doubt when they sacked Brady and scored a TD on the first play from scrimmage in the entire season. People were jumping and hugging strangers at the Bills bar in Denver. It was complete and utter mayhem. -
Like many Americans, I have libertarian tendencies

That was my two cents, that's why I put it in parenthesis. All he did was talk about the NFL. That being said, there isn't a perfect system. By most standards however, the Scandinavian countries are the happiest, most crime-free, smoothest running countries in the world. Now, you could easily make the argument that they are smaller, less diverse and thus, easier to govern. But yes, to your point, every government in the world is Socialist to a certain extent -

Bill Maher had a take right before the Super Bowl about how socialism has become such an evil word in this country much like fascism or something (despite the fact that the Socialist Democratic countries tend to have the highest literacy, employment and quality of life rates and the lowest crime rates but that's a topic for another forum), but that the NFL, which is wildly successful in this country, has a lot of socialist traits- TV revenue sharing, salary cap, etc. -
Good question. I'd go with character. I'd wonder if Ellis Lankster were say, eball's nephew or something, and he had a stuttering problem and with a bunch of reporters and lights shining in his face for his first real NFL interview, he got nervous and stuttered a lot, if eball would find it as amusing. I'm assuming he wouldn't find it quite as amusing. Furthermore, I wonder how he would feel if he went on some NFL message board and saw some guy named "eball" taking delight in his nephew's disability. That being said, the whole problem could have been easily averted had Lankster simply taken advantage of the many speech therapy programs made available to him throughout his life. In fact, I'm sure he's never even addressed the problem.

I don't know whether or not you should feel sorry for him, I don't know the man. Chances are he doesn't feel sorry for himself and certainly doesn't want anyone feeling sorry for him. I just don't know why watching someone struggle with a developmental disability is funny. I mean, I think Naked Gun is funny and Revenge of the Nerds is funny, but I just didn't find Ellis Lankster's postgame conference that amusing. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on that one.

Wow. For whatever reason I can't open the link at work, but I'd have to imagine the Bills' "Maybin" draft was an above average one if anything. Didn't they take Wood, Levitre and Byrd in succession? Hitting on 3 of your first 4 picks works for me. Although I do think the jury is still out on Byrd somewhat.

Roscoe Parrish vs Kansas City
metzelaars_lives replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did you watch the video? Watch his two punt returns and you will understand the Roscoe love. The guy is electrifying. The problem was that we had a staff that couldn't figure out a way to get the ball in his hands. Speaking of which, he also has great hands- rarely drops a pass. -

Man Roscoe is good. I really hope when he's lost a step that we don't look back and say what a waste of talent he was. We already cost him what, 4 years in his prime by keeping him off the field. The guy is a ridiculous talent. This is his year if he can stay healthy. -
NFL Network's Top 100 Players
metzelaars_lives replied to BobbyC81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anyone who watched the Bills play last year knows that Kyle Williams had one of the more impressive individual seasons for a defensive football player that I have seen from a Bills player probably dating back to Bryce Paup. Maybe the late Damien Covington or Sam Cowart. He was insane. The game against the Steelers may have been the most dominant individual performance by any Bills player in a game dating back further than that. He is clearly one of the top 100 football players in the league right now. Peter King and Adam Schefter know it. To echo the sentiments of previous posters, who cares about this stupid list. Getting caught up in this stuff is the equivalent of girls who watch Sex and the City and reality TV and the like. Watch the games, but try not to get caught up in stuff like this, read a good book. PRECISELY! -
What 4 Bills Will Have The Most Catches in 2012?
metzelaars_lives replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. Johnson 2. Nelson 3. Spiller 4. Evans (I guess) Anyone who thinks the Bills are gonna all of a sudden start using a TE prominently this season after two decades of not doing so and that the man who's going to step forward and accumulate a good number of catches is going to be some scrap heap practice squad pick-up is a more optimistic Bills fan than I and I consider myself to be pretty optimistic. -
Buffalo Favored in only 4 games...
metzelaars_lives replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know what you're talking about- "Many pro football fans in western New York expect the 2011 Buffalo Bills to avoid their version of The Dirty Dozen and end their playoff-less streak at 11 years." Everyone I know fully expects the Bills to make the playoffs this year. -

Man that's crazy that we play the Jets three times this year and the Dolphins only once. -
Agreed. The new unis are gonna be sick. And manly.

You're probably right. Well stated.
