The Packers are looking like repeat champions
metzelaars_lives replied to Mr_Blizzard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh come on. The Ravens have shown that yes, they are prone to a crappy game here and then, but on their best day, are capable of beating anyone in this league. I think the Lions and the Bengals are the types of teams who are very disciplined, take care of who they're supposed to, but may be a year away from beating the big boys, especially in the playoffs. But I hope you would put your money on Baltimore against Green Bay on a given Sunday than Detroit or Cincinnati? Another thing too is that you don't have to go back very far to recall a Patriots team who no one thought could be stopped and look at what happened to them. Everyone who is throwing around these ridiculous superlatives regarding Aaron Rodgers' season has a very short memory. Brady was every bit as good during the 18-1 season. If you watch Rodgers, he has all the time in the world back there. At some point in the playoffs, they will be stuck in a lower scoring game where the opposition is able to generate a consistent pass rush. Let's see what happens then. -
CJ Spiller Is going to be a weapon
metzelaars_lives replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow. Are you serious? So C.J. Spiller and Johnny White have both proven to you that they are not NFL caliber RB's? You must be way more insightful than the rest of us, because I haven't seen enough of Spiller to declare anything yet. In fact, the times he's gotten the ball this year, he's looked pretty damn good. I agree with the OP that they have to find a way to get Spiller the ball in space beginning tomorrow. And again, wow. I mean wow. If you have RB anywhere near the top of the Bills' needs going into next year's draft, I have to question if you even follow this football team at all. -
Similarly, your response is unbelievably inaccurate because in past seasons the Bills sucked and wouldn't have competed for an NFC playoff spot anyway. Yes, this year's Bills team would have won the NFC West if they were transported back in time and somehow participated in the NFC West last season. That's something to hang your hat on.

Defense down the stretch
metzelaars_lives replied to bonecrusherkev's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah I'm gonna have to go ahead and sort of disagree with you that one. I am very concerned with the offense. I am concerned that Fitzpatrick hasn't been throwing the ball downfield since the New England game. I am tired of Spiller not being involved. They better run about five screens to Jackson on Sunday. I think the defense is slowly but surely starting to come together. I am honestly more concerned with the offense than the defense right now. -
Midseason Gloating
metzelaars_lives replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't feel like searching for my posts, but I continually said before the season started that the offensive line was average last year. They were above average in YPC and after Fitz took over, above average in not allowing sacks. With another year to gel together and another year under Wood and Levitre's proverbial belts, there was no reason to think their offensive line wouldn't be above average this year. Everyone would scoff at my posts, but I held my stance. I still had them going 6-10 though. Hopefully I'm wrong about that. -
Well done.

I agree with everything you said aside from the Cincinnati only winning 7/8/9 games? They're not going 1-7 here on out. Aside from those 4 games (of which they'll win one), they have an easy schedule the rest of the way. The sad fact remains that the Bills are going to have to beat out either New England, the Jets, Baltimore and Pittsburgh. As of now, that sounds daunting, but all of these teams will have ups and downs the rest of the way. One way or another, we're going to have to have 10 wins going into Week 17.

Bills will wear White at home this weekend
metzelaars_lives replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You own a Jeff wright jersey? That is amazing. Do you know if it's possible to get a 90's jersey customized anywhere? The Bills store claims it's impossible. -
Everything FRED JACKSON
metzelaars_lives replied to georgeskoutakis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. He's going to get franchised next year people. Stevie loves playing here. He's gonna make a s***ton of money in 2012. He knows it, his agent knows it. They'll worry about him next year. Do you really think the Bills think Erik Pears is more vital to re-sign than SJ (especially w/ Hairston on the roster)?? They made an attempt, it wasn't working out, they'll put it on the shelf until next season after they have everyone else signed. -

Please consider using the search field before posting as this topic was already discussed on a thread last night. Thanks!! -
A New Domed Bills Stadium in the Falls?
metzelaars_lives replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As long as it has a retractable roof and they leave it open for every home game I'm fine with it. -
And I adamantly dislike him because he seems to think that God cared if Matt Prater made a kick in a game between the 1-4 Broncos and the 0-5 Dolphins, while meanwhile the entire city of Bangkok is flooded.

Thank you for the laugh. I think I found your response as amusing as George Wilson found Thigpen getting hit in the head. P.S. Tebowing jumped the shark five minutes after I first saw it.
-
Dude at the store said that surprisingly, he had not gotten any requests for Wilson. He said that the two hottest selling jerseys (other than the ones on the website) are David Nelson and Scott Chandler? I mean, he's a nice redzone threat, but really, Chandler??? George Wilson is not playing like a pro-bowler right now (of course he'll be a pro-bowler), he's playing like an ALL-PRO. Too bad he's in the same conference as Polamalu and Reed.
-
That's funny you say that as I am a stand-up comedian. A damn good one too. That being said, I am a little confused by the responses on this thread. How in the world are you not rallying behind the OC of what, the 4th ranked offense in the league or something? The guy is doing an awesome job man, what gives?

Give Merriman a Chance Next Summer?
metzelaars_lives replied to Dorkington's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It seems as though Merriman's achilles heel is his achilles heel. -
I've heard lots of people praise Fitzpatrick, Freddie Jackson and Stevie Johnson all season and the three can definitely play, but when is Curtis Modkins gonna finally get his due??? This offense is his brainchild as he is the offensive coordinator. Everything goes through him. Sure, Gailey kind of oversees everything and is there to lend moral support, but Curtis Modkins obviously calls the shots. He is the #1 reason our offense has been able to take the next step. Talk about extensions, we need to lock him up ASAP!

Fitz has agreed to 6yr 59Mill Contract
metzelaars_lives replied to buffalo1983's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a lot of money. I actually thought Stevie Johnson should've been the first priority of the three. It's becoming clear that Gaiey is a genius and can make any QB look good. I love Fitzpatrick as a leader, but for those of you keeping track at home, he's now had three pretty mediocre/pedestrian games in a row (#'s in Philly game are misleading, he wasn't taking any chances). Oh boy. -
I've been saying this for years. They need to make interference reviewable and they need to have two fouls- egregious (spot of foul) or incidental (10 yard penalty). If they didn't have an egregious foul then you could just tackle Calvin Johnson everytime the ball was in the air. But I agree. Hey, we won the New England game because of a very borderline pass interference call that no one seems to ever want to acknowledge.
