Bills Over/Under at 6.5
metzelaars_lives replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is exactly right, which makes it even more puzzling- these oddsmakers actually think the Bills have a better chance of finishing with 6 wins than 7 wins. Exactly. Why wouldn't they just make it 7.5 with even odds? It doesn't make any sense. I use sportsbetting.com and you would never see these type of shenanigans on there. -
Bills Over/Under at 6.5

At first this seemed crazy and upon further review, it's INSANE! First of all, "Vegas Odds?" What the hell does that mean? There are thousands of casinos and online sportsbooks, each with their own odds. This is just one of them and it is a joke. Broncos at 7.5? Chiefs at 8.5?? Dolphins at 8.5???? Come on. These lines don't mean a thing. I think the consensus on the Bills over/under win total will be closer to 7.5/8. That being said, I would love to throw some money on the Dolphins finishing with less than 9 wins and the Broncos finishing with more than 7, are you freaking kidding me? -

How Many Bills Will Be Named to the Pro Bowl?

Whoever stays healthy and plays at a pro bowl level throughout the season. -
Hey we can all agree that it's great to finally have some freaking depth on this football team. We could conceivably have Hairston, Sanders and Rinehart as our first three guys off the bench. That's solid if you ask me!
-
I'm a little disappointed that I spend so much time on a site where the majority of people are ready to write off a tackle as a backup who has prototypical NFL size and played admirably last year as a rookie (even if he played "mediocre," which he didn't, he was a freaking rookie). Why? Because he was a 4th round pick instead of a 2nd round pick (Glenn)? Chris Hairston is a tackle. Cordy Glenn is a guard/tackle hybrid project who was drafted based on his size and potential. That's why he fell to the 2nd round. If you don't think Hairston starts atop the depth chart, I question your football intuitiveness. That being said, yes, Glenn WILL have a shot to beat him out, of course.

Hairston will start at the top of the depth chart at LT. We'll see if Glenn can give him a run for his money. Nothing is etched in stone.

Where are you now Bills Fan?
metzelaars_lives replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is an insane thread. Literally less than 5% of the people on here actually reside in WNY. That is nothing short of shocking. Denver currently, grew up in the 'Ville, have lived in the Canisius area and the west side. -
Would be even better if he said "fasten your seatbelts," which is what Van Miller actually used to say. I too am extremely nostalgic about Van Miller and believe him to be one of the best announcers ever. Murph was the best color man back in the day too. My old man used to go Bartman during the glory years and listen to the radio broadcast at the games. IMO, Van Miller trumps Jeanerette by a wide margin as I find Jeanerette to be more than a little hammy at times (the population of Pominville has just increased by one? Come on) and I was a big time Ted Darling fan ("there's a nice souvenir for a young man from west Seneca") How old school is that !?! No doubt we are blessed to have had the announcers we've had over the years. Buffalo for life.

Wow. I mean wow. Did you not watch these two guys play last year? Through the first half of the season, George Wilson was playing at not an pro-bowl level, but an all-pro level. And then Jairus Byrd got votes for the AP all-pro team IIRC. Give these guys a pass rush for once and let's see how our safeties look.

Joe Montana was absolutely jacked. -
looks like we have to cut kelsey
metzelaars_lives replied to superbills315's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, you said he stinks. And if he stinks, he shouldn't make the team. And if he stinks, yet makes the team, then you are insinuating that Gailey, Nix and Wannstedt are incompetent. So which is it? -

OK, let's cut the BS. I'll give you 2:1 odds. How much you wanna bet he makes the team? -

Yeah Lee Evans is awesome too. Tell me who you think we should keep over him. Danny Batten? Robert Eddins? Because that's who would have to beat him out. I didn't say he's a great football player, I just said he will make the 53-man roster, as he should. -

There's some real mean spirited posts on here. Chris Kelsay is going to make the team. He may start, he may not, he probably will. The guy has played for the Bills for ten years and loves it here. I met his Dad at Midway on the way home for the Raiders game last year and had a beer with him. Hell of a nice guy. While I was talking to him, he picked up the phone, called Chris and asked him if it was cool if I came to hang out with him, Kyle Williams, Lindell (his closest homies on the team apparently) after the game at some bar they always go to in OP after every home game. I'm 33, so I'm too old to go gawk at professional football players, but if I was ten years younger, it probably would have been awesome. My point is twofold: #1- you come off like real a**holes and #2- you really don't know football that well at all. The guy has been voted captain by his peers several times, he's proud to be a member of this franchise, he is valuable to this team. Did you not watch the game against the Broncos last season? He was the best player on the football field on either team. He's not a great talent, but he's certainly deserving of making the 53-man roster. What, you think they should keep Robert Eddins in his place or something? As a 4-3 run defender, Kelsay is actually a pretty effective football player. -
This was written by Todd McShay the day after the 2009 draft. Do you need any more evidence that it's all a colossal crap shoot? Don't tell me Bruce Irvin was a reach and who had a good draft and who didn't. NONE OF YOU KNOW. Go Bills! 2009 draft class Best pick: DE/OLB Aaron Maybin, Penn State (first round, No. 11 overall) Worst pick: C Eric Wood, Louisville (first round, No.28 overall) Bottom line: On paper, this is one of the best drafts of 2009. I would have liked to see them take an OT with one of their two first-round picks. Wood was a bit of a reach late in the first, but he and G Andrew Levitre will ultimately become starters and boost what was the weakest area of the team entering the draft. Buffalo's second-biggest priority was to upgrade its pass rush, and that goal was accomplished by selecting Maybin, who is the best pure edge rusher in this class. Maybin will play in a rotation with Chris Kelsay and Aaron Schobel early on and will have time to get bigger and stronger. And watch out for TE Shawn Nelson, who could turn into a late-round steal.

Does Byrd move back to CB??? I don't think they're going to take Barron but I can't imagine Barron, Byrd or Wilson not starting if they did. -
It is simple for Buffalo

I pretty much agree with everything you just said. Well done. I am hearing Floyd is a very distinct possibility. -
I get that saying "best player available" makes people feel like they know more about football than the next person, but you have to draw the line somewhere. Not only do we have very good starting safeties, it's also a position at which we have very good depth. I almost don't care how good this guy is. If you take a safety at 10, he better be Ed Reed or else you draft a position of need.

Scouts Inc. take on the Bills (intriguing)
metzelaars_lives replied to deep2evans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would agree that whomever they take at 10 will lead me to believe whether or not they think they can win this year. WR, OT, Kuechly = win now. CB or QB = stockpiling for the future. -

1. Andrew Luck- QB/Stanford 2. Justin Blackmon- WR/Oklahoma State 3. Matt Kalil- LT/USC -
I don't know what to say about this besides it's never gonna happen. Although I guess at some point, either the Bills will leave WNY or they'll HAVE to build a new stadium, at which point, yes, it would benefit the region to have more of a reason for people to go downtown, even if it's 10-15 times a year. They could leave it open for tours year round and build a little museum like Green Bay to give people a reason to go down there year round. My only hope is that if they did build a retractable roof, which with global warming I think is becoming less and less necessary, that they would leave it open in the rare instance that it actually snowed in Buffalo in December some time.
