Think Seatle would consider trading Flynn?
metzelaars_lives replied to jhemmer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
?? Trent Dilfer was like the 6th overall pick in the draft and Matt Flynn was like a 6th round pick (you'd have do double check those, but I'm usually pretty accurate). So it's really nothing like that at all. -

Went to Canisius with that dude- Adam Zyglis. Hell of a dude, used to party with him. You knew he was gonna make it, very talented. His stuff is syndicated now and appears in national papers. -
Why is everyone so upset?
metzelaars_lives replied to TheBackupQB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is why you're a backup QB. The way things fell yesterday, we very well could've gotten the 6th seed at 9-7. Now the Bengals have to go 2-1 to reach 9-7 and we would've won a tiebreaker with them. If the Steelers go 1-2, we would've finished with a better record than them. Alas, we would've probably had to play in either Tom Brady or Peyton Manning's backyard anyway. -
Any HC worth a damn would get 10-6 out of this team...
metzelaars_lives replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The distinction between this team and say, the 2005-2010 teams is that this team actually has talent. We are very solid in both threnches. We have talent at RB and in the secondary. They are just a few key parts away (HC, QB, 2 LB's and a WR). They are a more appealing bunch to want to coach than when Gailey was hired. This is the offseason to make a major move. Anyone who says, "yeah but switching up coaches sets you back/you're starting from scratch, etc." is not paying attention to what's up happening around the rest of the league. See: Colts, 49ers, Rams, Broncos, etc. You can improve right away in year 1 with a new regime. -
At least Skelton isn't our QB

You trade Mario Williams for John Skelton. Problem solved. -
If you believe Buddy,....

Fortunately I am not developmentally disabled, so I won't lose any sleep over it. But I'd imagine if you had a son who was and he went to school and came home crying because other kids were calling him a "retard," it might make you think twice about using the word so freely. -

Bills O-Line Getting Respect...
metzelaars_lives replied to The Voice of Truth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
(typical TBD poster): They are an average to slightly above average offensive line. Fitz's sack numbers are deceiving because he has a magical quick release- quicker than anyother QB in the league. We really need to improve at RT, let's invest a top 3 draft pick in the OL next season and then we should be OK. Oh by the way, I've never watched any other team and really disected their offensive line, so I have no idea what I'm talking about. And FWIW, I was praising the Bills' OL all last year and the best I'd get was, "Yeah they're average. I suppose it's not our number one concern. They could still use a lot of improvement though." Guess what? They were a top 5 OL last year too. Dude in today's NFL, you're not going to have A+ players at every position on your football team. Especially if you're the Bills. Hairston/Pears are fine. You're telling me you'd be willing to shell out big money to get a RT at the expensive of what? A linebacker? A receiver? A quarterback? We already have one of the best OL's in the league but you think we need to fine tune RT when our LB's may very well be the worst in the league? I can save you the trouble, it's not happening man. They like Hairston. Yes he got burned by Mathis on the two or three plays you watched him, but he's fine. -
Pass Interference Statistics

Yes, that's exactly what I said. This will happen sooner than later. It's gotten out of control this year. -
Pass Interference Statistics

So then you make it an automatic first down like virtually every other defensive penalty. Is that not the case in college? I don't watch enough CFB. -
Pass Interference Statistics

Or how bout Bills-Pats this year for that matter? Agreed 100% I've been saying this for years, but I feel like it's finally come to a head. In basketball when you're fouled in the act of shooting, you get two shots. They don't just hand you two points. If you get a pass interference penalty 25 yards down field- however questionable the call- they hand you the ball there so it's as good as an actual catch. The punishment does not fit the crime. I am so freaking sick of rinky dink PI calls all the way down the field that cost defenses huge chunks of yards and more than anything, offenses getting the ball handed to them at the 1. There should be two calls- an egregious, spot foul PI- like the guy would've made the catch easily- or a 10-15 yard penalty one (which would get called 80-90% of the time). -
Some would gladly trade Fitz for Palmer
metzelaars_lives replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Palmer is a little bit better than Fitzpatrick in 2012. Fitzpatrick plays for a much better coached team and is asked to do much less. The Raiders are a disaster. You put Carson Palmer on a team like the Ravens or the Falcons or the Texans and believe me, he'd be just fine. The guy's entire WR corp is 1st and 2nd year UDFA's. -
Four QB's and two kickers...
metzelaars_lives replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude the Bills kept 9 offensive linemen. Everyone in the league kept either 8 or 9 offensive linemen. You're really grasping for straws here. Brad Smith is a WR for the Bills. They have 3 QB's just like everyone else. Lindell is 17 of 18 this season and they thought they could gain a field position edge by complimenting him w/ a kickoff specialist. It didn't work, so they cut the guy. We're talking about the 53rd position on the roster. Who cares if they kept and extra LB or S or whatever who never dressed anyway over John Potter? Let it go man. There is a lot wrong with this team, but this is just dumb. -
You're taking some liberties there, my friend. Rob Johnson essentially won in Tennessee in the playoffs, Losman took every snap in 2006 and wasn't even that bad that year, each a greater accomplishment than anything Trent Edwards ever did. You really could make an argument for any of the three being the best/worst. I would probably go Losman 1 and then after that, I can't even begin to pick a 2. But yes, Fitzpatrick is far better than any of them and FWIW, Bledsoe was definitely better than Fitzpatrick. I see Bledsoe get thrown under the bus on here quite a bit- look at his numbers from 2002 when he went to the Pro Bowl, plus he led the 7th ranked offense in 2004.

For someone that posts as often as you, I hope you're kidding. Their defense has gone from 31st, where it was virtually all season, to 24th, which is pretty impressive considering they gave up over 1,200 yards in a two-game stretch. Their defense has been one of the best in football over the last month, which has coincided exactly with Mario's emergence.

Hell yeah man. I'll take a tremendous increase in natural disasters, rising ocean levels that will soon threaten cities' existence, unbearable summers in places that were already hot to begin with and rapidly increasing ozone levels and smog, all so your Dad doesn't have to shovel his driveway a few times in the winter.

Javon Belcher Update
metzelaars_lives replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
To be honest, the thought of this being a gun control issue never even crossed my mind until I saw this post that sarcastically said, "it's the gun's fault." Well, no, a gun cannot think and pull its own trigger, but with guns so unbelievably easily accessible, situations like this escalate into murders a hell of a lot quicker with guns sitting around. And thank you for the OJ reference. Yes, you win, in the history of the world people have been murdered by weapons other than guns. -
Javon Belcher Update
metzelaars_lives replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Right. We need more guns. His girlfriend should've been armed too, that way she could've intervened and shot him before he shot her. Or maybe their 3 month-old could've stopped it if he was armed too. We have a serious problem in this country and it will never change with this type of mentality. The simple fact is that in other westernized countries that don't allow guns, there are exponentially fewer murders. Please, I beg you to just do a simple google search and look at the numbers (cue someone saying, "but yeah, they have knife violence"). -

Ugh. I blew it. My bad. I'm optimistic again.
metzelaars_lives replied to ThurmasThoman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
However you dice it, if the Bills win this week and the Bengals and Steelers lose, they're only one game out of the playoffs. If you don't think people will be fired up if that happens, you haven't been a Bills fan for very long. -
McShay, no elite QB 2013 draft
metzelaars_lives replied to thewildrabbit's topic in College Football
Agreed 100% It's called tanking a season. Much like the Eagles have decided to do. The Bills never do this, which is why they end up picking 10th or 1tth every year. Not saying they should, but other teams have become hip to this notion.
