Dareus is back
metzelaars_lives replied to buffalobillsfansince1918's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kind of a jerk thing to say. Dareus was good as a rookie. Not great but good. 6 out of 10. Which was fine for a rookie- everyone was psyched for his second year. Remember Drayton Florence telling him he could be great on the sideline against Denver? He meant it. His second year, his brother died, concluding (hopefully) an incredibly horrendous run of immediate family member deaths. He had a down year. Not terrible but down. It's his third year coming up. Let's call last year a sophomore slump and get behind this guy. There's nothing else to say about it. If he sucks this year, then we have a problem. So to answer your question, one more year's cushion. -
ESPN article ranks Marv Levy # 17

I think the Bills had the #1 ranked defense in the NFL in '99. Their biggest problem that year was running the foootball. -

Just got back from an all-day hike here in Colorado. Gotta weigh in. I like mrags as a poster but you could wake me up in the middle of the night fresh off a 4-day bender in the middle of the woods including a bad acid trip and I could tell you that it was a 47-yard field goal. That's Bills knowledge 101. Another figure about that game that I'll never forget is that the Bills were (by most accounts) a 7 1/2 point favorite. It was really the only one they were expected to win. -

You've made one too many nutty posts for my liking. So the guy doesn't like hunting. Neither do I. It blows my mind how people on here show so much disrespect for Marv Levy time and time again. As a Bills fan, that's like dissing your own grandfather. And yes, he had a lot of talent to work with, but lest you're too young to remember, Bruce Smith used to be a showboating cokehead, Jim Kelly was an a**hole, Thurman Thomas was a whiner and a complainer and Marv got all these guys to come together and not only play for eachother but love eachother. They would not have made four consecutive Super Bowls if Marv wasn't able to bring them together. That '89 team was on the brink of complete collapse. -
90's Bills Trading Cards
metzelaars_lives replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude they're not worth anything. I think the best cards you could have would be Bruce Smith, Jim Kelly and Andre Reed's Topps rookie cards and even those I can't imagine being worth very much in 2013. I have several of each and they're sitting in a binder in my parents' basement. Perhaps many years from now they'll be worth something. You'd be best served holding onto them in the event that they are as opposed to trying to squeeze a few bucks for them now. -
I don't think it's nuts to believe that I won't spend the rest of eternity in an actual, literal hot place with flames and an actual embodiment of the devil for having pre-marital sex. Or that Noah actually, literally lived to be over 800 years old and collected two of every species on his boat after making sure he had a male and female of each- including millions of species of tiny insects- before enduring 40 days of rain, which flooded the earth. I can assure you that Tebow believes both these things sure as the sun will rise tomorrow. You can call me nuts. I'm comfortable where I stand.

That's impossible. I gotta be honest, I don't get the Chuck Norris joke thing. So sometime around, what? 2005? People started making jokes saying that this admittedly-amusing-in-retrospect 80's action star is capable of incredible feats. Why? Where did it start? Let me try one: Chuck Norris doesn't have to even get his lawnmower out of the garage. He just looks at his lawn and it's mowed? When Chuck Norris goes to a pizza place he doen't even have to order, they know what kind of pizza he likes just by the look he gives? This is how stupid the Chuck Norris joke thing sounds to me. Maybe I'm turning into a grumpy old man, but I don't get it. Nor do I get anyone thinking Tebow would be a successful CFL 2nd stringer.

OK, which one of you is this?

Is the tattoo on his other calf the REO Speedwagon logo? If so, that's awesome. A little intense though. -
Is Marcel Darius in camp ?
metzelaars_lives replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I kind of knew after I wrote that that someone would take it literally. No, I have no idea. They're idiots for not playing though. They actually sounded pretty good at the O2 Arena concert. No need for the comma in that sentence either. -

Wow. First of all your post reeks of irony. Second of all, my point was that how can you profess to be such a Bills fan and not know how Dareus's name is spelled. It's right there on his uniform for all the world to see. For instance, I really like Led Zeppelin. Thus, I know how to spell their name. I wouldn't go on a Led Zeppelin fan site and then after 2,000 posts, start a thread that says "Lead Zeplin fall tour rumored!" -

Thank you. How are you such a Buffalo Bills fan that you've made over 2,000 posts on this website but you don't know how to spell a key player's name. It's really perplexing. I'm not trying to be a dick but I just don't get it. And as I sit here, I'm not certain whether or not his first name has one or two l's, but if I were starting a new post about him, I would do a simple google search beforehand. It takes five seconds. In fact, I would venture to guess that if you went to google and started typing "M-A-R-C-E-L" that by the time you got that far, #99's name would be the first one showing. It's so easy guys, it really is. It makes you appear so much smarter when you spell things right. Perhaps I'm in the minority, I don't know. -
Yet another New Stadium: Minnesota Vikings
metzelaars_lives replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would they necessarily suck outside and be good in a dome? Your post doesn't make any sense. What do you prefer all things being equal? Of course I would rather they be good in a dome. -
Yet another New Stadium: Minnesota Vikings
metzelaars_lives replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's very state of the art and very nice, but I'm sorry, I just can't get on board with an indoor football stadium. It will be very bittersweet the day I have to walk into the new Bills stadium on a crisp 47 degree fall day and sit in an air-conditioned dome all afternoon. Yes that would mean the Bills are in Buffalo to stay, but man, that's just not the way it's meant to be. Call me a relic, call me what you will. Say I'm old-fashioned, say I'm over the hill, but that's just the way I am. -
Is anyone else worried about Da'Rick Rogers
metzelaars_lives replied to bufffan031's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This was a well done and funny post and I always like what you have to say. In fact this is a funny thread and I think the OP may have been trolling, but it's amusing either way. All that being said, I find it shocking that as a farmer, global warming is a joke to you. It wasn't a joke to farmers in the midwest last summer. I'm not a farmer and the fact that Western New York has a blatantly different climate than when I was a kid 20 years ago is pretty alarming if you ask me. The fact that New England foliage occurs a full two weeks on average later than it did 20 years ago is also pretty alarming. The fact that when I moved to Denver 11 years ago, the summers were noticeably cooler and it rained more than it does now worries me quite a bit. Certainly more than the Kardashians. I know we're all here for football but to slide in a jab at people being concerned about the earth warming at a never-before-seen rate is pretty ignorant. -
Fall from grace - worst movie sequels

You're crazy man. Jaws 2 and Weekend at Bernies are two solid films. Jaws 2 was on last night when I got home from the bar. It's a good flick. Obviously a shell of the first one, but definitely worth watching if you've never seen it. -

I wouldn't go around telling too many people you feel that way. You are aware that Raiders of the Lost Ark is fairly high on the American Film Institute's greatest films of all time? I like Temple of Doom, but you need to re-watch Raiders of the Lost Ark my friend. -
Fall from grace - worst movie sequels
metzelaars_lives replied to Dragonborn10's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Temple of Doom is underrated and Last Crusade is overrated. Raiders is far and away the best but I actually think Temple of Doom and Last Crusade are pretty close. They're both good. Either way, unless you're bringing up Crystal Skull, which was garbage, then Indiana Jones should not be mentioned in this post. And ya know what? Jaws 2 aint even half bad either. Now Jaws 3? That is a horrendous film. OK, let's get down to business: Major League 2 is complete and utter garbage. It is offensively and insultingly bad. Teen Wolf Too was also a huge letdown. Revenge of the Nerds 2 is pretty bad, although it has its moments. And as I've gotten older I've realized that Back to the Future 2 and 3 kind of suck too. Used to kind of like them as kids but they have not stood the test of time. Greatest sequel of all time? FUBAR 2. Better than the original. If you don't know about the FUBAR franchise, just order them off ebay or amazon and thank me later. You're welcome. -
I think people citing this has officially become my biggest pet peeve in the whole world. I hear it at least twice every month. At least you know the origin. Most people just say, "ya know the definition of insanity is..." Well, no it's not. It may be an example, but it's not the definition. OK I digress. Yes I am also psyched about the Bills' fresh approach to 2013.

Bills Offseason Workouts

That is not true. When Levitre was being discussed there was definitely a guard figure.
