I'll give ya 1987. We're a year or two away from even dreaming of going 12-4 and getting a first round bye in the playoffs.

NYCBBB Celebrates Win at McFadden's
metzelaars_lives replied to BillsNYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For one, they're not Bills fans and also, from what I understand, if you're not there during a Bills game, like let's say a Saturday night, it's one of the cheesier bars in the entire city. So when they heard McFadden's, they were like, no way I'm going to McFadden's. -
NYCBBB Celebrates Win at McFadden's
metzelaars_lives replied to BillsNYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
S***! I was in NYC yesterday and instead opted to watch the game with some non-Bills fan buddies at some random bar in Union Square. I totally should've went to McFadden's but my buddies who live in the city refused to go because they said that place is weak. I had no one to even high five when SJ scored the TD. Oh well. -

Yeah well the best pinch hitters or PK specialists or career 6th men aren't in their respective hall of fames either. -
Pro Football Hall Of Fame canidates announced
metzelaars_lives replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's "criminal" and a "no-brainer" that a team that never won a Super Bowl and already has 5 hall of famers from the 1990-93 teams (Kelly, Thurman, Bruce, Lofton and Levy) doesn't have 4 more (Reed, Bennett, Tasker and Hull)? It's the hall of fame, not the hall of very good players. Sorry but Reed is borderline, although personally I don't think he's a hall of famer and Bennett, Tasker and Hull will never sniff it, nor should they. All very good players, don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure you understand the type of career required to make the hall of fame. And also, dude, Fred Smerlas, hall of famer? -

I was being sarcastic. Read the rest of the thread. Everyone was jumping on me saying our line was "in shambles" and "sucks." -

Our offensive line flat out sucked today. Thanks to EJ's magic delivery, he was able to mask our shambles of an offensive line. Laughable. -
Another damned Tebow thread
metzelaars_lives replied to dorquemada's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Still don't understand why the Broncos ditched Tebow for Peyton Manning. I mean, Tebow won a playoff game for them and Manning couldn't, right? The kid's a winner. -
Bills roster cut down to 50 (-18 then -5 more)

I watched the Indianapolis game and he was the best player on the Bills defense. He made at least 5-6 great plays in that game. -

WGR's JOE B projecting final 53
metzelaars_lives replied to Kemp2Warlick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can't believe it took that many posts for someone to respond to that moron. Sometimes I wonder how close attention a lot of these people are really paying. In another thread I'm arguing with two guys who are insisting that the Bills' offensive line has been horrible the last two seasons. Sooo... identical to Joe B's. I'm going to agree that I think Easley does make the roster. He's simply too big and fast. -

Ahh the famous "Fitzpatrick's magic delivery" rebuttal... If you think last year's offensive line of Glenn-Levitre-Wood-Urbik-Pears/Hairston was "poor," then my friend, you aren't paying very close attention and I flat out question your understanding of the game. Do you watch tape of other teams' offensive lines and scrutinize them too? Their run blocking was absolutely mauler last year. That's OK, droves of NFL analysts and pro football focus are on my side, while joey greco is on yours. I feel OK about where I stand. That's a different conversation. You may be right- Levitre's departure may really hurt us. And I liked Hairston to win that job although Pears has played pretty well when he's been healthy. And Rinehart was ranked incredibly high by PFF so his loss may hurt us too. I'm going to let that play out. At the end of the day, we will return four healthy starters from an OL that everyone around the league has considered a top 5 OL in football the last two years. Everyone except you and papazoid, who think the Bills OL has sucked the last two years. Which is insane that you think that. Honestly, answer this question- if our offensive line sucked last year, how many YPC would Spiller have averaged behind a good OL? 7? 8? Because if a guy averages 6 YPC behind an OL that is terrible I gotta figure he's the best RB in the history of the game. And I also have to believe that Fitz is one of the best QB's ever because if he has this "magic delivery" and has to get rid of the ball quicker than every other QB because, again, our line is so bad, and he still threw for 23-25 TD's each of the last three years, then he is a hell of a lot better than I realized he was. Yes, you guys are unbelievable. -

So we've had a top 5 offensive line for the past two seasons by every imaginable statistical measurement- sacks, YPC, etc. We have a 2nd year LT who had a very fine rookie year and there's no reason to think he can't build off that. We have a stud C and a very solid RG. CJ Spiller has busted his runs this preseason just like he did last year. With all the problems we seem to have, the pass protection has actually been pretty good. We lost a very good RT no doubt about it, but after a preseason game in which none of the starters played, you are declaring our offensive line to be in 'shambles?' Wow. Some of you guys are unbelievable. Let the season play out for a few games would ya? -

You're insinuating that Buffalo has a poor offensive line and that their running backs are underachieving as a result. Yet the Bills have had one of the highest YPC in the league for two straight years. C.J. Spiller averaged 6 YPC last season. Are you suggesting that our OL has been poor and that he would have averaged closer to 7 YPC with a better OL? I would suggest that part of the reason that Spiller was able to average 6 YPC last season was because our OL was so good and that behind most OL's he would have been lucky to average 5. All that being said, I think we will miss Levitre quite a bit this year. -
Everyone needs to relax. Seriously. Read why

Thank you, Mr. Minor. The only thing I disagree with you about is that I really thought the Bills had a good shot at beating the Pats opening day with a healthy Manuel. I am flying across the country for the game and if he does in fact sit it out, it puts a huge damper on the whole experience. I mean, the tailgate is gonna be sick regardless but the tailgate would be sicker if Manuel plays. Anyway, I guess I just think that New England is incredibly vulnerable- at least early in the season without Gronkowski. And just imagine if Manuel comes out of that tunnel last how much that place would erupt. It would be like a Forbin's bust out at Dick's this weekend! (going all three nights) -

Uhh that's not happening. Williams will be starting at SS against New England, you can take that to the bank. McKelvin, Brooks, Butler, Rogers and maybe even Robey. Someone's gonna have to step up big time. -
Al Michaels is obviously the best of the last 30 years and Collinsworth is the best color man I can recall, so as a team, they're hard to beat. As far as the classics, was there anything better than Dick Enberg exclaiming, "Oh my!" Also Don Criqui and Bob Trumpy were amazing in their prime.

With all the potential issues facing the Bills this season, a guy who pretty much only returns kicks is probably the last thing we could possibly need. If nothing else, I think we're set there.

My condolences man. I was at Bills-Oilers with my Dad too. Makes me think about things. Crazy how Buffalo sports are such a huge part of the fabric of me and my Dad's relationship. RIP.
