Single Play to define the Bills Franchise
metzelaars_lives replied to Coach55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How quickly I forgot what an insane kick return that was. Holy s***. -
The Bills have reverted back to a problem that they had with Edwards and did NOT have with Fitzpatrick- they cannot complete passes to their wide receivers. This is something that they are going to have to address.

2 idiotic games from .500
metzelaars_lives replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No it doesn't. We had an historically bad defense last year and now we're middle of the road in terms of yards allowed and are #1 in sacks. We are actually improved on offense as well- statistically speaking. One thing that should not be overlooked is that we are no longer getting grossly outgained. On a game-to-game basis, we're usually pretty even in terms of yards, first downs- statistics that usually indicate how many games you'll win. Statistics that we've been embarrassed in the last few regimes. The problem is that they haven't learned to win yet. That's what they are- an average NFL team that hasn't learned to win. They aren't any better or worse than the Ravens or certainly the Dolphins but the Ravens know how to win and the Dolphins, I don't know, got lucky a few games where we haven't. -
The Buffalo Bills have a better QB Situation Than...
metzelaars_lives replied to Boludo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not worth banging your head against the wall over. In limited action this year, Hoyer looked better than EJ ever has. Not to say I don't like EJ's upside but you could certainly make the argument. The bottom line is that this thread is dumb because half the QB situations in the league are purely speculative- ours being a prime example. -

All true. I'm glad Kiko Alonso is still alive. This is the type of thread that really brings out the best in people, right? When I was 16 I used to do stupid s***. You live, you learn and you try to teach your kids not to do the same s***. But they probably will and when they do, I hope they don't die committing any number of acts that would constitute a misdemeanor. In fact, ya know what's really crazy? That when people on here heard that someone broke into a jeep, half the people on here were like, "got what he deserved." And now that we've read the real story, not one person has said, "what the f*** is wrong with someone who pummels an already unconscious man to death?" Allow me to be the first. Lotta internet tough guys on here. "If it were someone breaking into my jeep, they'd be in the hospital." Oh yeah, what if they were Kiko Alonso's size. Again, lotta tough guys on here... I would put my hands up and say, "dude, please take my TV. I have homeowners insurance." That would be the end of it and I would file a claim the next day and get a brand new TV to replace the one I got in 2007. I suppose you, however, would go sliding across your hardwood floor- in slow motion is how I'm sure you envision it- to your safe, unlock it before the perpetrator could do anything to you and in a blaze of glory, defend your family neatly and cleanly so that only the thief was harmed. It always happens that way. The difference between me and you is that I've been jumped by someone with a gun. It sucked and it was humbling, but if I tried to be a tough guy, I might not be typing this right now. -
I love how people say, "draft a safety (in this case) in the 5th for depth. We drafted a safety in the 4th AND 5th this year- presumably for depth. It's like everyone that gets drafted in the 4th round and after is forgotten about halfway through their rookie seasons and then we forget that it's going to happen again the following year. Like for instance, RB- Xavier Omon, Duane Wright, Johnny whatever-his-name-was from North Carolina, et al. Someone always says, take a RB in the 5th, problem solved. Well, those guys are what you get in the 5th. TE- every year, "take this guy in the 4th." Well, we took Derek Fine and Shaun Nelson both in the 4th. I don't know what else to tell ya. I guess I would say that you can only really bank on addressing needs in the first 3 rounds and free agency.

One of the smarter posts I've seen on here in a while.

This team is different from the 2005-2012 teams. They are pretty competitive on both sides of the ball. They just need to learn to win football games.

still feel disadvantaged bills with bye weeks?
metzelaars_lives replied to gmanbfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nope, no they don't. Teams coming off byes win at a 54% clip, which is a pretty significant advantage. So, despite the fact that you've stated this before, you were and are incorrect. http://espn.go.com/fantasy/football/story/_/id/9748736/qbs-home-d-sts-road-show-most-improvement-coming-bye-weeks -

I would fight him but I would try my best not to end his life for trying to steal my Nintendo or something. -

I have friends who broke into cars in high school a few times and stole CD players, etc. They are now responsible adults and can't believe they used to do stuff like that. I'm really glad that they didn't die even though, according to you, they deserved it. Similarly, someone broke into my truck and stole my iPod a few years ago. Although I was pretty pissed at the time, I don't think he/she deserved to die for it. Then again, you are a barbarian. -
Fitz throws a pick - inside :30 left in half
metzelaars_lives replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tom Brady threw a horrendous interception in the first half today. Fitzpatrick has played at a level higher than any of our QB's so far this year. Not sure one pass proves any sort of point. -
Best college game I've seen since Boise St-Oklahoma.

New overtime rules are awful. Great article attached
metzelaars_lives replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because no matter what, some people will always argue with everything. Example: the first lady says that kids should try and eat healthy. Who could argue with kids eating healthier? Plenty of people. And at the end of the day, after a decade or so has passed and we have a fair enough sample size, you will see that your odds of winning the game after winning the coin toss will be much closer to 50% than they were when it was first FG wins. -

An additional quarter would be fair as well but I couldn't see the player's union going for that one. -

Confusing? I'd hate to see a movie with you- "wait, I thought he was with them?" And I'm not even sure you know the rule- TD scored, game over. If the first team scores a FG, the second team can match. If both teams score a FG (like on Sunday), it becomes sudden death. It's not the least bit confusing. Believe me, there will come a time when the Bills lose the toss, the other team has a decent kick return and then the Bills get a sketchy roughing the passer call and suddenly the other team is in FG range and you will understand why they implemented the rule. -

Nope, the new OT rule is great. It's a perfect compromise. Obviously the old rule had to change- high scoring game, both teams moving the ball at will, all you needed was to get the ball to the other team's 35 to win. And obviously the NFL isn't going to go the route of college OT where a 35-35 game suddenly becomes 67- 61. So it is really a perfect compromise. I have thought about it much and evidently I am in disagreement with you and Ross Tucker- whose opinion I respect a fair amount- but there will never be a rule that everyone agrees upon. Oh well. I am willing to bet that most sensible posters will agree that it is in fact a pretty fair rule. Hey, if Green Bay wanted to win then they should've gone for it. It makes for a pretty interesting decision if you get the ball first. -
possibly the best player in the NFL this year

John Bongiovi interested in buying the Bills

How rock n roll of Bon Jovi. Let's partner with a bunch of corporate billionaires and move a team with a blue collar fan base and means everything to its city to a giant metropolis that doesn't care about the NFL whatsoever in order to become even richer. After all, that's what rock n roll is all about. Sometimes I think all you're doing is trolling on this website. So let me get this straight: you're a big Bills fan and the Bills are in danger of leaving Buffalo. If the Bills went up for sale and the man who is essentially the face of the franchise you love were a minority owner in the new ownership group and helped keep the team in Buffalo, you would cease being a fan of the Bills? Gotcha. -
It's so nice to have a week off
metzelaars_lives replied to Terrakon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Put me in the disagree camp. I love watching Bills games so much. Its 3 hours where I don't think about anything else in the world. It's kind of depressing knowing I don't have a game to look forward to tomorrow. I guess all I can do is root for New England against the Broncos. Yes, living in Denver, I hate the Broncos even more than the Patriots. Believe it. -
Bills contact NFL about scheduling disadvantage
metzelaars_lives replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your post is nonsense. The Jets being 1-3 in a 4 year span coming off their bye doesn't prove anything. I'm sure there are teams that are 4-0 in that same span. You're like the guy who discounts global warming because it's cold outside today. The FACT of the matter is that teams coming off byes win at a 54% clip, which is a pretty sizeable advantage.
