Chris Kluwe speaks out on being cut last spring
metzelaars_lives replied to NoSaint's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Let's be civil for a second and I'll ask you two questions. 1. Did you read the article? 2. Do you find what the ST coach said to be acceptable behavior in 2013? But Dwight in Philly, don't you understand that by you saying "who cares" in response to a coach saying that he believes that all gays should be sent to an island and then the island nuked, you are weighing in on the social issue yourself?? -

Are you saying it would be inconceivable that a football coach could have been racist in 1963? And once again, in 1963 when black people were being hosed down the street in Birmingham, there were plenty of Dwight in Philly's who were indifferent to that situation as well. Don't disagree with you at all. I'm not diehard Chris Kluewe by any means. But I also found it an interesting read, I believe him and I found that what the ST coach said was something that, 50 years from now, will seem as outrageous as it was to say something like that about black people would be today. Dwight in Philly doesn't care though, this much we know. -

It's an interesting read. And I'm sure if in 1963, a special teams coach made a comment about sending the blacks to an island where they would be subsequently nuked, there would be plenty of Dwight in Philly's out there saying who cares just the same. -

Dude, when you bring Hitler and Jews into a conversation, you're kind of treading on thin ice. FWIW, he also calls Obama "the enemy." Here is the clip: https://www.youtube....h?v=1eF6vCv13bw If you watch this and don't think that ESPN might have wanted to distance themselves from this guy, you're crazy. And I agree with you, I think people/the media can often times be overly politically correct, but this is kind of an extreme example. And again, I don't think anyone would want to take away ol' Hank's freedom to say what he did. Also, in a bit of irony pertaining to our discussion, Hank, Jr. kind of harasses the Fox anchor at the beginning of the clip, don't you think? -

Speaking up in favor of equal rights and comparing the president to Adolf Hitler are two totally different animals. Although, I agree that both ESPN and the Vikings have every bit the right to terminate the employment of whoever they want just as much as both individuals have the right to say whatever they want in the first place. It was incredible to me after Hank Williams, Jr. got fired that people were saying, "what happened to free speech?" Well I can walk into work and tell my female boss she has a nice ass. I'm free to do it- it's legal and I won't get arrested for it- but my company would be within their rights to fire me for it. -

Me and my buddy Art went to the Wegmans on Amherst St before the game and ordered subs, saying we'd pay for them at one of the registers and then just walked out of the store with them. Classic college move. -
It's because they have not yet learned how to win. I know it's cliché but it's true. They no linger have a roster bereft of talent, they have the makings of a good football team. Hey they outgained their opponents this season for the first time since 2004. But it's still a losing culture and that's what they have to break out of.
-
What do you want them to lose the turnover battle? Way more often than not, you win the turnover battle, you win the football game. If that didn't happen to us a few times this year it was an anomaly and we'll make up for it by winning all of them next year. Not sure exactly what you're trying to say here.

I still can't believe I'm the only one who mentioned Crayonz. When I first joined this site in 2008, he started an elaborate thread about how the Bills would actually be better off losing to Arizona because it was a non-conference game and if we were going to arrive at a certain record anyway, the more losses we had outside the conference the better because then we'd have a better record in the AFC. I fell for it hook, line and sinker and responded with a long-winded rebuttal. Then once I realized what his shtick was about, I watched him get other people time after time and it was amazing. My brother is as big a Bills fan as I am and checks this site for news and updates but thinks I'm kind of a loser for posting, but he loved Crayonz' posts. -

Crayonz and Skooby. There was a dude named Captain Quint who was cool at one point. -
Who are you ready to see go?
metzelaars_lives replied to Over 29 years of fanhood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't necessarily disagree with you but I think to a certain extent wins are kind of arbitrary amongst middling teams in the NFL. I mean we have a higher ranked offense and defense than the Jets, have scored way more points while give up only 1 more point than them (our point differential is much better). Is anyone aware that the 2013 Bills actually outgained their opponents this season? First time since 2004. So my point is that if the Jets don't get that call against New England, the roughing the passer against Tampa and Jeff Tuel doesn't throw the ball right to a Chiefs defender, we could be talking about the Bills having a better record. I'll take better statistics (indicator for how talented a team actually is) and a higher draft pick over a few extra wins in a rebuilding year. -
Dolphins Fans Should Be Ashamed

The NFC is a weak conference?? All 6 playoff teams are very solid and any of them could go to the Super Bowl. The playoffs are going to be freaking awesome, particularly in the NFC. And you'd rather be a Dolphins fan than know you have Nick Foles and Chip Kelly for the next ten years to go with McCoy, Jackson, et al. Give me a break dude. You seem like a nice guy but your opinions become more and more outlandish every week. Yeah I was at that game too. Saw Kelly get taken out on a stretcher right in front of me. I guess I wasn't considering that part of the Super Bowl era. There is no doubt that the Bills fans got spoiled by that point. But go back to 1990-1991 and that place was insane every week. -

Not at first. After a few years of going 12-4/13-3 every year, there may have been a few non sell-outs for meaningless late season games. As far as playoffs, the only one that wasn't a sell out was the Oilers game (which I was at). And you have to understand the circumstances- they had now been in the playoffs for five straight years and they had lost a slew of players to injury, including Kelly. They had also gotten blown out by that same Oilers team 27-3 the previous week and had zero momentum going into the playoffs. The Bills set attendance records year after year in those years and it was considered one of the toughest- if not the toughest- places to play in the NFL. The capacity was 80,250 and the gate attendance would sometimes somehow even exceed that. Please do not compare Super Bowl era Buffalo Bills fans to Miami Dolphins fans ever again. Thank you. -
Dude you are the worst. Every post you write is just oozing with pessimism and negativity. I'm surprised you didn't mention how the owner is the root of our problems in this thread like you do in every other one. Honest question: what do you derive from posting on this website?

What you are suggesting has- to my knowledge- never happened with exception of teams heading to the playoffs and their seed already locked in ie. the Chiefs this week. -
Does Fred Jackson merit wall of fame?
metzelaars_lives replied to Original Byrd Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's funny this came up as a topic as my friends and I have started to discuss this very topic recently. I think the answer is yes. I think if he plays one more season at the level he did this year, then it's a slam dunk. I have not read this whole thread but I'm sure someone has mentioned this: clearly the WOF takes into consideration the players' professionalism and commitment to the organization. For example, Cornelius Bennett is still not a WOF'er due to (I'm assuming) his off the field incidents and perceived attitude. Fred Jackson is the consummate professional and has personified commitment to his organization. By becoming the team's 3rd all time leading rusher, I think he clinches it. -

All fair enough. Again though, I just wonder you bother with the signature here if you won't discuss politics on this forum. Oh well. Go Bills. -

Is your signature really necessary on a football website? It's more than a little ironic that you urge people to be patient about Manuel but have already arrived at a conclusion regarding the AHCA. Both were situations that needed fixing and in both instances, the powers that be did their best to address a glaring shortcoming. Let's be patient about both. If the Bills' official website had an issue after the Bills selected Manuel I wouldn't think any differently about how Manuel might perform on the field.
