NFL getting "hoggy" according to Mark Cuban
metzelaars_lives replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK I understand that. But anyone who has paid any attention to this whole brain trauma thing knows that the real long term issues come from the constant "dull" hits on every play in the trenches, not the one time you get lit up by Chuck Cecil going across the middle. If you want to avoid injuries, then don't play football. And I'll tell you another thing- if they really move the kickoff to the 40, you could see kickers skying them and trying to make the opponent catch the ball on the 1 yard line to try and pin them inside the 20, which would create an even more dangerous situation. -
NFL getting "hoggy" according to Mark Cuban

My biggest issue is that the NFL can't leave well enough alone. Granted, I am a traditionalist, but every time I see something new it just raises the question, "why?" Why did Nike have to come in and put those preposterous white collars on the jerseys? Why are they trying to eliminate the kickoff from the game? Why can't they just leave the extra point alone? Why do they have to add more playoff teams? Why the incessant Thursday night games? Why again is Nike trying to get teams to move to the futuristic uniforms? When you read any article about the new Bucs uniforms, literally 100% of the people commenting thought that their new jerseys looked ridiculous. Same with the whole moving the kickoff to the 40- everyone is against it. Who are they trying to appease with this stuff? Man I miss sports from when I grew up in the 80's and 90's. -
And there you have it folks. The best post I've ever seen on this website. That's awesome man.

If you asked me the number one thing I love about Jim Kelly, the first thing I'd say is that despite the fact that he is not from WNY (and maybe even more so because initially he was too cool for WNY), he loves the area so much and is Buffalo-for-life. I'm from there and I couldn't even commit to Buffalo-for-life. He really is the consummate Buffalonian.

It's starting to hit me too. That article isn't outdated it's from today. But yeah it appears he's in for a hell of a fight this time around.

Report: Bills express interest in Kenny Britt
metzelaars_lives replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with you for the most part but in the case of TJ Graham, come on, I think it's pretty clear that the TJ Graham thing isn't happening. I think he'll get a crack at making the roster but I would be surprised if he is one of our 6 best WR's come August. You got your three shoe-ins and then I think Easley is a shoe-in as well given Marrone's attention to special teams. That leaves two spots. One will be occupied by the WR they take in the 1st or 2nd round and the other- I would rather see them roll the dice on a Brandon Kaufman (or perhaps Britt). Again, much like George's girlfriend tells George when he's dwelling on Bozo at Monk's, "it's over for Bozo," I think it's over for TJ Graham as well. -
The Bills have had a solid offensive line since you've been posting in this forum. They had a very good line in '07-'08 and then again in '11 and '12. Look at the numbers. In today's NFL, you simply aren't going to have 5 all pros on offensive line. They have a franchise left tackle and a damn solid center. That's a hell of a lot more than most teams can say. They need some help at guard but it's far from unfixable and truthfully, it's probably the position most easily addressed in free agency. I am excited about the prospect of taking the best wide receiver in the draft. It's not like we've ever done that in these recent regimes either.

The Pats did it again.

This is crazy but I have some contacts in the NFL and they have picked up this post and are in the process of investigating this right now. Stay tuned... -
Possible trade down with Cleveland
metzelaars_lives replied to ....lybob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't stand when people are so steadfast in their opinion as far as who is going to be great and who is going to bust. I'm sure there were people on Lions websites saying not to draft Calvin Johnson after their first round receiver woes. I'm sure there were people on Falcons websites in an uproar when the Falcons wasted their late first rounder to trade up and take Julio Jones. It's a crapshoot my friend. Please don't pretend you know more than everyone else. Personally, I like the sound of a 6'5" receiver. -

Yeah that sucks. I would love to take a look at Bobby April. It's too bad he chose not to resign and to remain with Oakland. -
Who are the top five QBs of all time?

This is the correct answer. -
I am a diehard football fan. Far too many people (not necessarily on this site because it's a Bills site) nowadays profess to be football fans but they are really just fantasy football guys. They don't really love the game. If you truly love the game, then you, like me, are aware that Hard Knocks is the best show on television for real football fans. I watch every second of that show when it's about a team I could care less about. This last season on the Bengals was one of the better seasons yet (how they recovered from the Hard Knocks distraction to go 11-5 and win the AFC North is nothing short of miraculous. Just imagine if they weren't on the show, they would've gone undefeated). Do you have any idea how amazing it would be if the Bills were on Hard Knocks? It would be like porn for Bills fans. To be able to get a candid look at these guys behind the scenes would be unreal. And of course, before I even opened this thread, I knew there would be a percentage of people saying, "no! It's a distraction!" and of course, there were. Do you really mean that? Or are you just saying that because you think it makes you sound smart? I think anyone being honest with themselves would be elated if the Bills were on Hard Knocks.

What did we get for Marshawn Lynch?
metzelaars_lives replied to Jerry Jone's Toupee's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We got fair market value for him at the time. Do you know what Baltimore got for Anquan Boldin? A 6th rounder. We have CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson and of the 2-3 best running games in the league and Baltimore was unable to replace Boldin. So the Ravens must be an even more awful franchise than the Bills. -
So sick of Manning and Brady
metzelaars_lives replied to ALLEN1QB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Live in Denver, also pulling for the NFC regardless of what happens next weekend, but cannot bring myself to pull for the Broncos vs. the Pats, their fan base is just too dopey. Yes I'm sure if I lived in Boston I'd say the same thing about New England fans, but I don't, so the reality is that despite being as big a Bills fan as there is, I am pulling for New England on Sunday. That's funny, I was watching it at a bar and couldn't really hear but I was thinking how smart that was that he took a chance and threw there. Did Jim Nantz really not understand why he did that? -

Who was the moron on here last week questioning JJ Watt and Gerald McCoy's selections to the Pro Bowl that I called out again? Too lazy to look it up. -
All AFC East Running Back
metzelaars_lives replied to Coach Klein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look again. Rodak didn't pick the team. He did a write-up of the selections and said himself that it should have been Jackson. Also, Gostkowski was 38-41 while Carpenter was 33-36 so it's not like he had a bad season himself. Wait for it... wait for it... So, what do you think TJ Graham should've made the team as a WR?? -

Agree on all accounts. I just can't believe this thread lasted this long. It always gets yanked just when it starts to get fun like that. -

Of course but I think he was talking more about Spielman and Frazier and I'd maybe agree with him on that. -

Great post. I think the counter-argument would be that in order to affect social change sometimes there's going to be consequences. But I find his writings to be somewhat self-righteous and condescending. What I took away from the whole thing was how crazy the comments from the ST coach were- which, again, I totally believe to be true. -

Great post and it sounds like he's obviously accepted the fact that his shtick has kind of killed any chance he has at punting again in the league. -

Actually I think you're wrong. The game was on one of the NBC's because I watched it at a bar. Why would you complain that it wasn't on MSNBC? As opposed to CNBC? The issue was that it didn't receive top billing, which would have obviously been NBC. -

And Dwight need I really remind you for at least the tenth time that in 2010, almost exactly four years ago, you blamed Obama for NBC covering the women's figure skating gold medal round over the US-Canada round robin game?
