Ernest Borgnine? You're out of your mind. McQueen maybe. Harrison Ford in Raiders is a day 2 sleeper as well.

Man crush draft? How about Paul Newman circa 1967.

CJ Spiller discussed FA today
metzelaars_lives replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
CJ Spiller for a 3rd rounder huh? Why don't you look at the Bills' 3rd round draft picks from the last decade and tell me how many of them you would take over CJ Spiller. In fact, why don't you look at the entire 3rd round of any draft and tell me how many players turn out to be better pros than CJ Spiller. Did you forget that he averaged 6 yards per carry in 2012- you know, the last year he wasn't hampered by a knee injury all season? -
Jimbo ready to bid on the Bills

Thanks John. Always appreciate your insight on here. You have come to a crossroads and you have chosen a different path than Tim Graham and for that I respect you. -
I don't feel like reading through this entire thread but I can't be the only one who thing Lewis is actually an above average backup can I?

Positive. Then take one next year. It is the easiest position to acclimate yourself to in the NFL. Take one next year and they'll be just fine as a rookie. Also, let's see what Spiller does this year before whishing him goodbye. I wouldn't be so sure about that. -

The Bills are not going to take a running back in the 2nd round. They will need one eventually- maybe next year- and they can take one then. They do not need a 3rd string running back in 2014. They can just as easily take next year's Carlos Hyde in 2015. Lord knows there will always be serviceable running backs to draft. -

Article about Bills sale from a non-fan
metzelaars_lives replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm very familiar with all three situations. You're talking to metzelaars here. As I am with the Chicago Cardinals moving to St. Louis and then Phoenix, as well as the Dallas Texans moving to Kansas City and becoming the Chiefs, as well as the Rams leaving LA and the Raiders going Oakland -> LA -> Oakland, as well as the LA Chargers moving to San Diego, et al. There are varying degrees of tragedy with each situation with Baltimore and Cleveland being 1 and 1a. Anyone who's seen Diner knows how much the Colts meant to Baltimore. The Oilers were not being supported in Houston anymore. And I think the writer makes a point to say as long as the city is still supporting its team then it should not be permitted. As much as it sucks that there is a Carolina Hurricanes and not a Hartford Whalers from a uniform perspective, the Whalers were no longer viable in Hartford. Same with the Montreal Expos and same with the Buffalo Braves. But what makes this whole situation so irritating is that the Bills ARE perfectly viable in Buffalo right now. -

What a fantastic article. There needs to be more of this same sentiment in support of the Bills around the country. I haven't even read anything along these lines in the Buffalo News as of yet- it's just people pointing out facts, numbers and percentages and, in the case of Alan Pergament's column, completely unbased and blind pessimism. And just like other posters have said, I would be completely turned off if any team with the tradition of the Bills were to leave just because the owner, who is already a billionaire, wanted to become a little bit more of a billionaire at the cost of a great, supportive fan base losing its team. It should literally be criminal. -
Denver press - lazy journalism
metzelaars_lives replied to Thirdborn's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What a dumb thread. I live in Denver and one thing that does in fact bother me is that during hockey season, when they list the league leaders on the hockey page, they always show goals and assists and then they show obscure stats that I didn't even know people kept track of like power play assists (not even kidding), but they NEVER and I mean EVER show points, which is, obviously, the most important offensive stat in hockey you would think. It is really annoying. But it is totally in line with this being the furthest thing from a hockey city you could possibly imagine. It took the Avs being in the playoffs for the sports talk shows to devote one second to hockey coverage around here. And the people that go to the games don't even know the game. They don't know when to cheer, they are easily amused by the gimmicks on the jumbotron (which is insane by the way), the loud dopey music, etc.- it's really just a place for rich people to take their girlfriends. But I digress. Back to work. -
New Buffalo Bills Fan Rap anthem (2014)

Couldn't agree more. It is so played at this point. I thought it was a Baltimore Ravens thing but then this year I noticed that virtually every college teams' fans chant it. -
New Buffalo Bills Fan Rap anthem (2014)
metzelaars_lives replied to ldmgrand's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can someone explain to me what the Bills mafia is? Is it an exclusive club that you have to gain access to or can anyone just say they're part of it like saying "Red Sox nation" or something like that? I've been a pretty hardcore fan since '85 and I was never invited to join. Is it just a group of fans that hype the Bills on social media or do they actually get together in real life? And if so, do they put hits out on opposing fans? I had season tickets from '87-'94 and I was at the greatest comeback game, that's gotta make me like a captain or something, right? And when I'm at a game, how do I know if you're mafia? Is there a hand sign I can throw up to claim my set? And do they tailgate together? If I'm walking through the main lot and I see a young dude with a chinstrap beard blasting bad rap music, funneling beers, puking and cursing at opposing fans, can I assume that guy is in the mafia? I'm only half joking with this, I really have no idea. -
Look if you don't follow Canisius basketball, you wouldn't have heard of him. If you do, you obviously know who he is. He was pretty much a three year starter. He is a physical, not glamorous down low player who does a lot of the dirty work. He did not appear to me to be particularly athletic (relatively speaking of course) but he certainly has the body. Not a bad free throw shooter for a big man either.

Why didn't you look at the next sentence I wrote as well? Of course you're right. I still don't think it'll ever be a football town though. I am a realist. Could we lose the Bills to LA, Toronto or even London? Yes. But we are not losing the Bills to a smaller market than Buffalo in North America- especially one that has zero history as a football city.
-
Dude you are not only not hopeful but you are no longer being rational. Charleston, SC? I know you have pointed out the less than ideal economic conditions of WNY but do you really think an owner would gamble on Charleston, SC being a better football market than Buffalo- a proven diehard football town? Buffalo may not be a big market (although if you consider a third of the fans at every home game are from either Rochester or Southern Ontario, it's actually not even that small of a market), but most importantly, it is a viable NFL market. I'm not so sure that Toronto is a viable NFL market. Clearly, LA has proven itself not to be. Now those two places are big enough and there's enough money there that it would be a viable investment regardless of the city's NFL fervor but Charleston, SC? A second team in Chicago or Houston? You are entering troll territory here.
-
Why are you so hell bent on this crusade of yours? I don't profess to know much about this topic but you are literally the only one around here who feels this way so it's kind of difficult to take you seriously. EDIT: And I'm not certain that the average law firm could nullify a lease with state of New York in a New York State courtroom in two weeks. And I'm also not certain that a $400 million fine wouldn't detract a billionaire from moving the team. From an investment standpoint, it would take a prospective owner a lifetime to profit more in a new city vs. what they would profit by just staying in Buffalo to add up to $400 million. It simply would not be lucrative to eat a $400 million fine under any circumstances. You are really grasping at straws to support your argument on this one.

Dude, I can't say for certain but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the extent to which Merriman did steroids with the Chargers pales in comparison to the extent to which professional wrestlers abused steroids in the '80's and '90's. And more importantly, what's killing all these wrestlers is the fact that they not only abused steroids but combined it with copious amounts of coke, alcohol and pain killers. It is the nature of the industry. I highly doubt Merriman could've amassed double digit sack seasons while abusing coke, alcohol and pain killers. In fact, I bet Merriman was and still is in immaculate physical condition- anaerobic and cardio (something that really isn't a huge part of wrestlers' training regimen). And furthermore, steroids are actually good for you if ingested properly and taken in moderation under a doctor's supervision. So yeah, there ya go. -
No excuse for not securing Buffalo ownership

I don't think anything you've written is anything I would consider trolling. I think you went a little far in "shaming" Ralph Wilson. But as you continue to say, "prove to me that Ralph made steps as to not jeopardize relocation," I would simply say to you, prove to me he hasn't. -

To think that you have taken the time to post on this website 867 times. So 80% Toronto, 20% Buffalo and 0% anywhere else? Got it. Personally, I would say 65% Buffalo, 20% LA and 15% Toronto.
