If Gabbert was quarterbacking the 2011 Broncos he would've won a bunch of games too. If you recall, their defense played incredibly inspired football during that stretch and kept them in games in which Tebow was historically abysmal before leading them on a drive for a game-winning 60 yard FG to make it 13-10. That is Tebow's 2011 season in a nutshell. If Manuel sucks this year, I wouldn't want to draft another QB anyway. We have enough pieces in place that it would then be time to go the Drew Bledsoe (Tony Romo?) route and at least get to the playoffs. We have the roster.

WVAU TV Marcel Dareus arrested-edit-again

Yeah I don't disagree with you at all. I'm not saying this isn't troubling. The OP suggested they release him, which it sounds like you and I agree, would be preposterous. -

Two points. Number one, if someone else released a Marcell Dareus for what he's done this offseason, 99% of this board would be clamoring for us to sign him. We just signed a guy who has done a lot worse than possession of weed and a drag race and all anyone on this board is talking about is his highlight video. Do you really want the Patriots to sign Dareus and have him grow up and then have to face him twice a year? And more importantly, do you also think we should've released Bruce Smith after he got suspended four games for coke possession? -
JBJ, Tanenbaum and Jacobs family super team?

Actually this is the guy who has been pretty adamant that they're most likely not going anywhere. He was the one who broke the ironclad lease story and he was also the guy who said that it is a longshot that Toronto ever gets a team. -
Ballmer: 2 Billion for Clippers
metzelaars_lives replied to Hail Flutie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I will admit, I have been in the "Bills aren't going anywhere camp" for awhile but it is scary to think that someone could just make an offer that no one could refuse and eat the $400 million. Prior to the Clippers' sale I wouldn't have thought it possible but now I'm not so sure. I do happen to think however, that the Wilson family is committed to selling the team to someone with the intent of keeping the Bills in Buffalo regardless. I was just arguing with a friend last week about how much the Clippers would sell for. He said half a billion and I was like, no way they're gonna go for a billion. But $2 billion? I thought it was a mistake when I first saw it. -

Dude give me a break. Anyone intending on keeping the Bills in Buffalo is great news. I'll worry about their roster and their record later, I just want to be able to have a freaking team to root for. -
Taylor Swift is incredibly talented but that is for another thread. To your other point, yeah- he is a founding father of soulless corporate rock, paving the way for bands such as Matchbox 20 and Buffalo's own Goo Goo Dolls.

Law & Order SVU had better ratings than The Wire did. What's your point? Does his music sound good to you? Do you like the song, Have a Nice Day? Are you aware that the dude wears turtleneck sweaters when he performs?

Jovi has a few good tunes. Barely. Lay Your Hands on Me is a good tune but that's about it. His music has not stood the test of time unlike a few 80's bands, including Guns n Roses, Cinderella and, to a lesser extent, Motley Crue. I'm really surprised that you still like Livin on a Prayer though. That song long ago joined the ranks of Don't Stop Believing as tunes that people find ironic/amusing/"awesome" that deliver cheap pops when played by lazy DJ's in corporate settings such as giant sports arenas. Bon Jovi is the very living embodiment of corporate rock and the complete opposite of what rock n roll is supposed to be about. Hence, wanting to take a sports team from a real rock n roll city with a real rock n roll fan base and tailgate scene and move them to a giant metropolis that doesn't care about football whatsoever to make a few extra bucks when he is already a multi millionaire. I literally hate him.

NFL networks coverage of Michael Sam

And here's another one for my jump to conclusions mat about what people are thinking. When the poster you alluded to brings JC into the argument, he believes that Michael Sam is making a choice. And when someone believes that, they have achieved elite nutjob status. -

OK we'll have to agree to disagree then. If you can't see why this is a news story then I don't know what to tell ya. Clearly it is newsworthy as we are still talking about it. Clearly news shows and magazines gauge what their readers are interested in and wouldn't keep promoting this story if the interest wasn't there. -

Words in mouth. Didn't get warm fuzziness over anything. During the cake thing, I called my brother and said and I quote, "Oh my God that was the gayest thing I've ever seen." All I'm arguing is that it is/was an iconic moment in American sports history. That's all. And also, nobody got suspended. -

Oh you guys are so cute together. Hey guess what? He is the first openly gay NFL player ON THE PLANET. -

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Two things. Number one, when did I say the Michael Sam thing wasn't contrived? Of course it was. If I could use one adjective to describe it, I would probably use "contrived." I said that the cake thing was over the top several times already. My argument throughout this thread is that people who are insisting that "they could care less" and "why is this news?" are really masking the fact that this whole thing really bothers them. And number two, of course I'm on the right side of history. More than half of Americans now support gay marriage. Clearly there is a trend toward tolerance. We live in a democracy. The politicians views and, subsequently, the laws eventually come around to what the people believe in. Look at marijuana legalization here in Colorado. That wouldn't have magically happened 15 yeas ago when far less than half the people supported such a measure. Are you arguing that 30 years from now there's even a remote chance that gay people will have less rights in the United States?? -
5/13/14: Meet The Bills' Rookies

Let's hope God's plan involves EJ taking a big step forward in his second season. I'd have to defer to some of the posters in the Michael Sam thread who invoked the scriptures and the rapture on this one. Perhaps they have a better idea as to how the plan is supposed to unfold. -

All in all, if you figure that Bills fans are going to be a pretty fair representation of the general adult white male population, I'm proud to see that most people are on team normal and that the nutjobs are relatively few and outspoken. Just imagine how drastically different this dialogue would have looked like 30 years ago. Then again, imagine how ridiculous some of your comments are going to look 30 years from now. I think that when in doubt, you should try and align yourself with the right side of history. -

I would hold off on the Watkins jersey if I were you. Bill from NYC has bad vibes about him. -
Classic right wing response. No one is questioning the legality of your ability to say what you want about the Michael Sam situation. I love it when Hank Williams, Jr. got fired from ESPN for his Obama/Hitler comments and all the bozos started saying, "whatever happened to freedom of speech?" He was free to say what he said- notice he didn't go to jail over it. But by questioning ESPN's ability to fire Williams at their own discretion, the bozos were questioning ESPN's own constitutional freedoms.

Amen. I don't know what's worse- the blatantly anti-gay people who make no bones about their stance or the ones who try and be more subtle about their outrage by saying stuff like, "who cares.. really,... there is not an instrument available that could measure my indifference on this.." Really Dwight? Is that how you really feel? I know if there was a thread about pottery classes being offered in North Tonawanda next weekend, I myself would not take the time to open the thread and condescendingly tell everyone that I didn't care.

Again, I just watched the cake eating scene and if a straight player did that with his girlfriend, it would've been extremely awkward just the same. I hope he takes some good natured ribbing for it just the same way a straight player would. We're on the same side on this issue, trust me. Also, great avatar by the way. Wonder how many people have picked up on that.
