Seahawks Trade Percy Harvin to the Jets
metzelaars_lives replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure you can save a season when your team is 1-6. Probably just a good deal. -
I often wonder what game some of you people are watching. If you asked me to give you one word to describe Robert woods' game, it would most likely be physical.
-
Your posts honestly don't even make sense anymore. They are #1 in rushing yards per game allowed and #1 in yards per carry allowed- both by a substantial margin. They are one of two teams who have yet to allow a rushing TD. What are you arguing this time? That the Bills run defense actually isn't very good or that EJ Manuel gives us a better chance to win than Kyle Orton? It's always one of the two.
-
And more so, are you suggesting that EJ Manuel makes the Bills a better running team than Kyle Orton? Why do you think that might be? Do you think opposing defenses fear the pass more when Manuel is in there, opening up the run game for us? Or do you think it just may have something to do with the nature of the games that Orton has played in- he's pretty much had to pass the entire second halves of both games? Me personally, I am comfortable with Orton taking a couple more sacks a game than Manuel in exchange for a guy who has a vastly superior YPA (generally seen as the most important stat for a QB at this point). Did you watch the New England game? Remember in the second half when Orton authoritatively marched our offense down the field by throwing passes to wide receivers (accurate ones), calling audibles, taking command of the offense and getting us within a score? Remember that? Does EJ Manuel do that? Exactly. See I need that in my QB. You know who takes a lot of sacks? Aaron Rodgers. And Ben Roethlisberger.

While the Bills' guards have been very bad this season, I'm guessing you have not analyzed the guard play of the other 31 teams with such scrutiny. I'm sure there are other teams whose guards suck too.
-
Two totally different plays. Manuel threw a nice deep ball to Sammy Watkins against Miami this year too. I never said he's never thrown a good pass in his life. Jeff Tuel and Thad Lewis also hit Goodwin on similar plays last year where he had his man beat. The Orton pass against Detroit had to be fit in a tight space between two defenders and it was a pass that- if we can't agree on this, we'll never agree on anything ever- Manuel, with his shaken confidence and ever-increasing timid and apprehensive nature, never even dreams of attempting. What really irks me right now are the EJ supporters who say, "hey he may be conservative but at least he doesn't turn the ball over." I could play QB for the Bills this weekend and not turn the ball over. Naturally a guy who doesn't attempt any passes to wide receivers more than five yards downfield who aren't wide open isn't going to turn the ball over as much. I know that Orton is good for one lousy looking interception every game. That's why he's a journeyman QB. But I'll still take him over Manuel and his 3 completions for 17 yards on 12 targets to Robert Woods in the Houston game.

Or maybe Brady will be like the 2nd Bald Bull and he'll be easier to beat the second time around...

100% in Redzone with Orton (4-4)
metzelaars_lives replied to HardyBoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In a two game sample to start the season, Andrew Luck was 0% on W's. That means Kyle Orton is infinity times better than Andrew Luck. -
I was at the gym and happened to catch that play but without any sound. I couldn't believe it. Then they panned to Jared Cook on the sideline and he wasn't shaking his head in disbelief so I figured maybe I was missing something. What did Gruden say? The acronyms are now officially overdone on this site. What in the world does this mean?

100% in Redzone with Orton (4-4)

What exactly is your point here? Are you denying that Kyle Orton is operating at a higher level than EJ Manuel was? If that's the case, then you and I can't discuss football anymore. Do you want to make a run at the playoffs this season? You know, something that Flutie- FAIL accomplished twice in two years as the Bills' full time starter? Or do you want to waste an elite defense and an offense loaded with weapons as we wait for your boy to develop? ALA- Losman- SUCCESS and Edwards- SUCCESS? You are making a very compelling case for worst poster of the 2014 Bills season. -
ok we're getting closer here. Some people aren't even acknowledging that orton is better than Manuel right now, which i should just ignore and go to a different website but i am so fascinated with people's lack of the most rudimentary football analysis on this website that i can't turn away and let it go.

i kind of liked BTTF 2 as a kid but man is it bad if you watch it now. Nice reference though. Cannot wait for the barrage of emails I get when Manuel develops into a franchise qb. Everybody will win. You guys can say I told you so and I will be happy that the bills have their guy. And also i understand exactly how WAR works in baseball. I felt it was a close enough concept to draw a comparison in this case. Especially with all the "they're both .500" clowns. Again, anyone who believes they win that game at Detroit with Manuel is willfully ignorant themselves. you mean in the first half- the first half we emerged with the lead out of? Yeah pretty sure we would've held on to the lead. Jesus Christmas have people forgotten how bad Manuel was in that game already!?!
-
Don't care about Austin Davis. If wings came out of his jersey and he flew over all the players into the endzone, it still does not change the fact that EJ Manuel had lost all his confidence, refused to attempt passes to wide receivers more than five yards downfield unless they were wide open and cost us a football game. WAR. With Manuel playing 6 games this season, we're 2-4. With Orton, we're 4-2.
-
Dude come on man. Don't add up TD's per start. OK, EJ put up 2, 1, 1, 2. Wonderful. Detroit has the #1 defense in the league and he went in there on the road and won us that game. Wins above replacement my friend. If you think we win that game with Manuel- or at least the way Manuel played the previous two weeks- you are delusional at best. Ask yourself this- does Manuel attempt that pass to Goodwin? If he attempts it, does he put it right there? In the Houston game, Robert Woods was targeted 12 times and had 3 catches for 17 yards. I wonder if you polled Woods and Watkins, who they would say they prefer. And do NOT cite the Miami game. I never said Manuel couldn't hit guys that had no one within 15 yards of them. The guy just does not have the ability to attempt to or, much less, put the pall into a tight space. Kyle Orton does. It's probably the most important attribute of an NFL QB.
-
I wouldn't disagree with anything you wrote there. If the Bills didn't have so much talent on defense and the skill positions on offense AND they had their #1 pick next year AND they didn't have a guy behind him making $5.5 million who is clearly capable of playing in the NFL right now, I would be much more inclined to let EJ take some more lumps this year and see what happened.
-
Why? The point is that if he was drafted in the third round people might be quicker to acknowledge that the kid simply isn't a starting caliber NFL QB, whereas now too many people are saying that we drafted this guy in the first round, how dare we throw in the towel on his development this soon. Let me ask you this- when is the height of you believing Manuel was going to be our franchise QB? For me, I'd say the Carolina game last year. Since that game, he has played in three, maybe four games that I would classify as serviceable (NYJ, ATL, CHI and MIA this year). When is the last time he threw a pass where you said to yourself, "damn that was a nice ball?" Orton threw about ten great balls yesterday. I compare Manuel to the girl you meet on the dating website who looks rough in 9 out of her 10 pictures and you say to yourself, just maybe she could be cute but you meet her anyway and, of course, she's gross. That's how I feel about Manuel. I'd like to believe it's possible he develops into a starting caliber NFL QB but deep down in my heart, I know it's not happening. How good Kyle Orton looked in 2005 means absolutely nothing to me. Beating the Lions meant something to me and that simply would not have happened with Manuel at QB.
