  1. Never intimated that they were similar players or played the same position, simply stating that I wasn't that much more impressed with Alonso last year than I am with Brown this year. And I don't know why they would switch to the 3-4. The 4-3 seems to be working pretty well right now and our coordinator uses it exclusively. If we can generate the same type of pass rush and be worlds better against the run, it would seem to me we've found a scheme that suits our personnel well.
  2. Fair enough. The time where he dove over everyone but missed the tackle against Cleveland and then the incredible game-saving interception against Baltimore come to mind. But really I thought Alonso was a tad overrated and I think Brown is certainly underrated so far. We'll see. But again, I think both are starters for us for a long time.
  3. Honest question: besides a few errant throws that landed right in his lap, was Kiko's rookie season THAT much more impressive than Preston Brown's has been? Not saying Brown's has been better but people forget that Kiko really cooled off after the first six games or so last year. Either way, I am psyched to have both of them starting next year.
  4. Chan gailey is the only one of these men that was even remotely likeable.
  5. yeah the bills drafts have not been that bad at all as of late. Imagine if they would've taken gronkowski and russell wilson, which were the conventional wisdom picks at the time. And no, i have no issue with the sammy watkins pick. Would i trade him for mike evans right now straight up? Probably. But hindsight is 20/20, i loved it at the time, watkins is gonna be great and we weren't gonna get our franchise guy at 15 or wherever we pick this year anyway.
  6. agree that we should have taken more qb's but find me another team that had 9 of its last 11 first round picks become solid starters in this league. To your initial points, yes we need a qb and no, our last 11 first round picks have not been abysmal. If we had a franchise qb we wouldn't be having this conversation. The patriots and colts have had laughable drafts for years.
  7. Evans, whitner, lynch, wood, spiller, dareus, mckelvin, gilmore, watkins... we've probably gotten more out of our last 11 first round picks than most teams have. WE NEED A G*****N QUARTERBACK. To quote metallica, nothing else matters.
  8. mark mosley? Wrong decade. How weird is it that mark mosley actually won an nfl mvp?
  9. I realize it's easy to call you out on this now but I really would've told you this before the game last week. It's the same thing I keep reminding my friend who is a Browns fan. THEY PLAY THE EASIEST SCHEDULE EVER. Because they have 6 wins in 10 games and we have 5 doesn't mean one franchise is doing something right that the other one isn't. At least we have built an elite defense. They have an elite receiver and that's it. Let's see what kind of a difference he can make.
  10. greatest poster ever. Would love to know what he did to get 86'd.
  11. Don't disagree with any of that but it still doesn't change who Manuel is. I would argue that a more competent front office wouldn't have drafted him in the first place.
  12. To the people who are saying "not in a million years" and the like, I would say that my response to this post would be very similar to when the Orca is sinking and Hooper recommends going down in the shark tank and Quint tells him he's crazy to which Hooper emphatically responds, "you got any better ideas!?!" Yeah but we've tried that just as much as we've tried the semi-stable veteran route. Losman and Edwards. If a guy doesn't have it, he doesn't have it. You don't waste an elite defense waiting for a guy to develop when it's becoming exceedingly clear that it's not happening. I don't know what to say anymore.
  13. Do I get to condescendingly tell you I told you so when EJ still sucks too?
  14. That would be crazy if he had proven that he can play at the NFL level because he would be the first player in NFL history to prove that he can play at the NFL level without actually playing at the NFL level.
  15. the one thing that no one's mentioned is that if the bills do end up at 7-5 (which I happen to think they won't), the mood on here is gonna change quite a bit and we're all gonna get suckered back in.
  16. If Peyton manning was the qb for the bills and every last thing was the same- from the o-line down to Hackett- they'd be 7-2 just like the Broncos. For one, if marrone wanted to punt on that 4th down in Miami, manning would simply laugh at him and the offense would stay on the field. And then eventually marrone and Hackett would learn things from him and nate hackett would be a head coaching candidate after two years. So yeah it's not the players or the coaches. It's the g*****n quarterback. Additionally though, anyone who goes anywhere near the "blow this thing up" argument is completely clueless. They really aren't that far away this time. They do need a few new parts: the aforementioned hc, oc, qb and a guard or two. There are teams in this league that need a lot more than that. It is nice to know we will have an elite defense again next year.
  17. please oh please someone add "so you're saying there's a chance..." that never gets old.
  18. no, no I don't. Who did you vote for?
  19. I don't disagree at all. I fully expect four QB's in camp next spring, not including Jeff Tuel. In all likelihood, you will have a, b, c and d.
  20. Our starting QB next year will either be a) Orton, b) Manuel, c) a FA/trade acquisition or d) our 2nd round pick. I'm starting to think a and b are not happening. I would very much be interested in c. Whether it be Bradford, Cutler or maybe even a young guy like Manziel. It's not that crazy. Our defense is too good to waste on another season like this. And lest anyone flame away at the prospect of Manziel, you better not be the same guys telling me that 14 games was not enough to make a judgment on Manuel.
  21. Gotta go Paul Blake on this one. If we could get his Samoan center in a package deal, that would be an upgrade as well.
  22. You don't like the Tim Murray hire? The Sabres are doing things EXACTLY right. This is the Sabres' version of the Colts' Curtis Painter season. Are you really one of the only people in all of Buffalo that is unaware that the Sabres are TANKING ON PURPOSE?
  23. I see what you've done here and I like it. Poor Manuel, seems like a nice kid. Unfortunately the last two games he played, he looked more like Richard Manuel.
