  1. The OP may be too young to remember but way back in 2010 when we made the trade, it was blatantly obvious to anyone who watched Bills games that Lynch was the 3rd best running back on the team. No one was clamoring for Lynch to get more carries in that backfield. He was completely expendable so they traded him for a 4th round pick, which the way people talk about mid round draft picks on this website, was seen as a great deal at the time. If there can be any complaint by anyone, it's that the Bills could have MAYBE squeezed a third round pick from another team. Chris Hairston, for what it's worth, has not proven to suck, has been good enough to make the roster every year and in limited duty, has actually looked capable at tackle. Is Chris Hairston better than Marshawn Lynch? Of course not. But there is way too much revisionist's history going around here lately. Bottom line, at the time of the trade, it was a fine trade and no one was complaining about it. His heart clearly was not in it in Buffalo and he clearly decided to take it to another level Seattle. Who could have seen that coming? Besides the OP and half of you, of course.
  2. I guarantee you if Ryan was lucky enough to draft, say an Andrew luck or an Aaron Rodgers, that he would've developed a franchise qb. Conversely if Bill belichick himself had drafted Mark Sanchez and geno Smith, he too would not have developed a franchise qb.
  3. They were above average fans. They were never considered elite fans. And steelers? Come on man. Steelers have always been legit fans.
  4. When me and some friends went to Bills-Seahawks in 2004, we were doing our usual tailgate routine- cranking tunes, getting smashed but in an adult way, grilling, et al- all the Seahawks fans in the main lot were like, "you guys are crazy, we don't take the Seahawks that seriously." And to a man, everyone we met said that it was a Mariners/baseball town first. And their fans were very nice and hospitable btw- one of the better road experiences I've ever had. Now I have no doubt that in 2015 Seattle is a football town first (much the same way around 2006-2007 Buffalo was undoubtedly a hockey town first for a few years) but I tend to agree with you. You give any NFL city a team that's that consistently good and their fans are gonna come out like that.
  5. Why do people keep saying this? I live in Denver and Invesco Field or whatever the hell they're calling it these days is used for events all year round. In fact, an outdoor stadium is better for summer events.
  6. I mentioned this in the shoutbox earlier this week- my brother's friend sat right next to Doug Marrone on a SW flight from Phoenix to Buffalo on Tuesday (the same day he interviewed for the Bears job). Marrone talked pretty openly about the whole situation and was pretty candid about kicking himself a bit for quitting. So this is definitely not the case. In fact he said the main reason he quit is because he was unclear about and could not get an answer as to who his boss was going to be going forward.
  7. Here is the bottom line to everyone who thinks they know how good of a coach all these guys are: last year people were posting stuff like "if Marrone doesn't fire Crossman then I'm done with this team." He didn't fire Crossman, the special teams were outstanding this year and now everyone is applauding Ryan for keeping Crossman around. Do you guys really think that Crossman went to some coaching clinic last offseason to refine his coaching skills? Do you think he totally revamped the way he teaches guys to run down the field and tackle someone when they receive a punt? Or do you think maybe the Bills got some players in who are good at special teams?
  8. It was not a questionable offensive line at all. It was a top 5 offensive line in football. They led the league in ypc and gave up the least sacks. And yet people continue to insist that it was a function of Fitzpatrick and his magically quick release. I'm sorry but no one averages 6.0 ypc behind a suspect ol, let alone CJ Spiller.
  9. Right? Like I think to myself, pepper johnson is a player that was good + the bills defense was good last year = I kinda sorta have an impression that he's a good coach but I've never watched him coach for one second. For all I know he's like the old assistant jv coach in high school that everyone makes fun of. For all I know this Dunbar character falls asleep in team meetings with a lit cigar in his mouth. For all I know he'll be the next Bill belichick. But don't come on here and tell everyone you know how good these guys are at coaching.
  10. Like you really know how good these two guys are at coaching defensive linemen.
  11. Hey I've actually heard of one of these guys- the qb from CSU.
  12. Rex Grossman did not win a championship. Brad Johnson did. You don't go back very far do you. Plenty of qb's with lesser statures than Joe flacco have gone to and won super bowls. Hell Vince ferragamo was the rams' starting qb against the steelers.
  13. I think they had 4 more but I actually agree with you for once about wanting to see a few more blitzes.
  14. And I'm sure he talked about the Bills that day as well. Their show is what, four hours long?
  15. Yes. Exactly what you just described happened in Denver this season. We got the ball right back where we decided not to go for it on 4th and 2 down by two scores with five minutes left- except it was two minutes later and we burned all three of our time outs, forcing us to attempt an onside kick when we did score. What drove me nuts about Marrone was when he punted in situations like that where we probably weren't going to win anyway. Same thing in the game at Miami- down by two scores with, what, 8 minutes left? Well stated.
  16. Sullivan asked his first question with an attitude like "wait til he hears what a dick I am- he's never heard someone ask him a question like this" when Ryan just spent six years dealing with the NY media.
  17. Hogan. Younger and more reliable at this point. The bwahaha's are more than a little obnoxious. You had a similar response (not sure if there were quite as many a's and h's) when I said the bills had an elite defense early in the season.
  18. Everyone watches the ball. Let pff grades, sack numbers, ypc and replays showing people getting blatantly beat dictate your opinion on offensive linemen. When people come on here- especially immediately after a game (I respect people who rewatch the game and formulate opinions that way)- and tell everyone who played well on the OL, they are not a better football watcher than you, they are simply full of s***. They see a guy get beat on 1-2 plays that we all saw and tell us how well he played based on 70 snaps. Again, we all watch the ball.
  19. This is really still a thread? "I love Sal because he is still young and positive all the time and has not grown bitter. I hate schopp because he's a realist and tells us what it is/what we don't want to hear... wah wah wah..." I'll give you that. He has definitely cheesed out NHL advanced stats for me. So absolutely f'ing bizarre. I listen online most days and between the insanely bizarre William c. Rott and son commercials and flo and her stupid kazoo- maybe that's why I don't mind schopp like the rest of you.
  20. If running backs are a dime a dozen then why would you re-sign a guy that is going to command a multi-million dollar annual contract? If running backs are a dime a dozen then why would you re-sign a guy that is going to command a multi-million dollar annual contract?
  21. you are incredibly misinformed. Please provide evidence of shula conspiring to get rid of either coach. They were both simply at the end of their respective lines. And how could you do any better as a coach than Johnson did for Dallas? If you're saying that he didn't rack up the victories it would take 30 years to rack up as did Landry then I suppose you win. But Johnson's tenure as Dallas's coach was nothing short of remarkable. What exactly is your personal gripe with him all about?
  22. Jesus why is this still a thread. The title itself is an unanswerable question. We may as well have a "what is the meaning of life?" thread.
  23. I laughed out loud. Agreed. I've posted on it so many times so I do not have the energy to get into it but for all we know Watkins ends up in the hall of fame. And for all we know we would've drafted some guard who ends up sucking at 19th this year. Just let it go people. Tell ya what, let's re-adjourn in, say, three years and discuss then.
