  1. All stuff that the EJ dreamers (I'm going with that from now on) fail to acknowledge- it's always "but the guy has only played 14 games..." You'd think he would have at least looked better in practice than he did as a rookie. Any which way you looked at it, he regressed, which is not a good sign.
  2. Unless I'm missing something, where did he say something about Locker?
  3. Wow people are really hopping around the jump to conclusions mat on this thread. Whaley leaving in a dispute over Manuel? Come on guys.
  4. Well for your sake, keep your fingers crossed that part of Rex's evaluation process does not involve watching game tape from last season and maybe they'll keep Manuel around.
  5. And also, who is this Leroi character and why is everyone accepting his posts as gospel. I don't think they're going to cut Manuel. This is starting to become comical. So Locker is a scrub and EJ is what then?
  6. Hyperbolic statement of the decade (intended). But really? They are eyeing a mediocre retread QB when there are no better options out there. What do you want them to do instead? For all we know Manuel does win the job, excels, McCown is his more than serviceable backup and everyone lives happily ever after in Bills land.
  7. That's fair. Except Orton being "basically 6-6." Not sure what that means. I think the only difference between me and you is that I am ready to move on a bit quicker than you are. I mean honestly, what do you really think the chances are of EJ having a break out year this season and solidifying himself as the Bills' starter for years to come? I would give it around 10%. What say you?
  8. I understand you and bills fan 4 life's point of view, I'm not an idiot. The unknown of EJ is more enticing than the mediocrity you're inevitably going to get from McCown. But what if Manuel looks like he did last year again this year and meanwhile, every receiver on the team has been seeing better balls in practice from McCown. The team is going to want McCown in there- especially the receivers- because they want to WIN. Winning is their goal, not satisfying your guys' curiosity about EJ. It's EXACTLY what happened last year and exactly what happened in 2009/2010 with Edwards/Fitzpatrick. Remember TO telling everyone that Fitzpatrick was a better option than Edwards? Well, he was. And no of course Fitzpatrick isn't/wasn't the answer either but he gave them a better chance to win on Sunday and so too might McCown. We'll have to wait and see how it all plays out. What in the world does that have anything to do with what I said. Who would argue with what you just wrote? Of course that's true.
  9. And furthermore, this is such a flawed way of thinking: so because Marrone is now the offensive line/assistant head coach in Jacksonville, then every decision he ever made in his life was stupid? a) Doug Marrone being a poor head coach (which I agree he was) and b) him rightly benching Manuel after the San Diego/Houston debacles are not mutually exclusive. Hitler may have had great taste in wine. So if Hitler picked out a fantastic Sangiovese would you be like, "oh right, you mean the dictator who thought world domination was a realistic goal?" Well, yeah Hitler was ultimately not an effective dictator but that doesn't mean he can't pick a good bottle of wine.
  10. But what if he doesn't? Then was it our best bet? There is no simple answer to any of this, guys. Our best bet is a) they draft Bryce Petty and he looks incredible from the get-go or b) they make a play for a legitimate starter, namely Bradford or Foles.
  11. Yes, that guy along with virtually every Bills fan in existence, viewed Orton as a better option after the Houston game. Did you not? And I will admit that Orton sucked and by the end of the season he wasn't any better than Manuel himself. But in fairness, Orton regressed quite a bit and ran out of gas/his heart wasn't really in it. If the Orton from the Cowboys/Eagles game or even the second half of the home New England game played all year, he would have been an incredible upgrade over EJ.
  12. Yeah and Orton was viewed as a better option than EJ. EJ is going to have to improve in order to unseat Orton/McCown/jabroni veteran backup.
  13. *Disclaimer* I am not pro-McCown. But watch the video I posted a few pages earlier on youtube. He is actually pretty elusive in the pocket and is not afraid to take off. Wouldn't have thought it myself either.
  14. Guys can we stop with all this who beat who stuff. The Raiders beat the Bills and the Bills beat the Packers and the Packers beat the Patriots, who won the Super Bowl. Oh my.
  15. Look guys, I have stated it IN THIS THREAD: I would love for EJ Manuel to look great and win the job. I just don't see it happening. Do you really think if EJ Manuel emerges as the starter and is great that I would be disappointed? I would love for you two to start a big fat "I told you so" thread.
  16. You are really somethin. So if in 1999, had Kurt Warner thrown for 88 more yards and finished with more yards than Beuerlein, is it your contention that they would have thus not won the Super Bowl? And when in God's name did anyone say that "passing yardage alone is the reason teams win championships?"
  17. And to anyone questioning if McCown is more mobile than Kyle Orton, I suggest you watch this video. He might be more mobile than EJ Manuel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbKAwLb1nOY Please ignore the music. Also, turns out he is one of those pro-Jesus guys.
  18. Yes bills fan 4 ever, you have solved the long sought after formula on what it takes to win the Super Bowl: don't lead the league in passing yards. It is by no means an anomaly that no QB has ever led the league in passing and won the Super Bowl; rather there is a direct cause and correlation here. Don't worry, your boy EJ isn't going to be leading the league in passing yards anytime soon so that leaves us in the hunt at least. Meanwhile your Rodgers, Brees and Manning types who will compete for the league lead in passing yards have no chance whatsoever of winning the Super Bowl. I gotcha. I'm not trolling. I really don't think Manuel is capable of beating out a Josh McCown in training camp and the preseason to win the Bills' starting QB job. Do you want to bet on it?
  19. Dude you are all over the place. Yes, at the end of the day, wins are the most important thing in football. No one is disputing that. However there are 53 guys on a football team. If you took a middling QB, let's say Alex Smith for example, and put him on the Jaguars last year, he would've gone 5-11. If Russell Wilson got hurt in preseason and the Seahawks went and traded for Alex Smith, the Seahawks still would've went 11-5 minimum. So the same guy, Alex Smith, has a drastically different record based on his supporting casts. Hell, Kyle Orton had a winning record on the Bills last year and he pretty much sucked. That says a lot about the Bills defense. Kyle Orton would NOT have had a winning record on the Buccaneers last year. The Buccaneers were/are in complete and utter disarray as a football team. Do you understand what I'm saying a little bit? And this is not even a defense of McCown.
  20. Look I'm not doing backflips over this move either. But why are you so obsessed with W-L as being the end all be all QB statistic. You are pulling this in every thread now. As we all know, Matt Cassel went 11-5. It's almost as if you fail to grasp that how good the rest of your team is factors into your record. And also, the guy is one year removed from a better season than your little buddy will ever have. You should save those green about to puke emoticons for when EJ starts to take reps in camp and the preseason, during which McCown will win the job with ease, despite the fact, as others have pointed out, that everyone, including myself, wants EJ to win this job. Mark my words, he will not.
