Would You Rather - Fitzpatrick or Cassel?

Fitzpatrick definitely had issues putting enough zip on intermediate routes. Cassel can actually throw a pretty nice lofty long ball from what I have gathered. Not sure about his fastball though. -

I agree with everything you just said. However Ryan Fitzpatrick 2010-2013 was working with mediocre at best rosters and was asked to make 4th quarter comebacks. What if he didn't have to do that. This bills team is outrageously stacked. All it's gonna take is for someone to not f**k it up. We'll see who's better suited for that role but my guess is it's cassel. -

The bills would have made the playoffs last season if they would've just held onto Fitzpatrick. His level of play with Houston last season would have been good enough to get us to 10-6. For christ sake he was throwing to Stevie Johnson, David Nelson and Donald Jones- a 7th rounder and two udfa's. He is slightly better than cassel and cassel has led two loaded teams two 10+ wins. If you don't think Ryan Fitzpatrick could take the 2015 bills with all these new toys to the playoffs you're nuts. -
He only has 0 starts so we don't know anything about him. I say we take a flyer on him and let him start for a couple seasons and then at that point perhaps we can formulate some sort of opinion. In all sincerity, I did like him coming out of Arkansas for whatever that's worth.

Per ESPN, RG3 Could be had in a QB Trade

Just because numbers are inflated doesn't mean when people have great seasons, they're not still great seasons. Would Aaron Rodgers put up 40+ TD's with like 5 INT's in 1986? No. Are his numbers still very impressive and is he a great QB regardless of era? Of course. All you can do is go relative to era and in 2012, RGIII was one of the best QB's in the whole league. He won the freaking rookie of the year over Andrew Luck. Trust me, he was really good that year. -

OK. You are aware that QB stats are wildly inflated in this modern era, I'm assuming. Ryan Tannehill had 27 TD's and 12 INT's last season. That's about exactly what Joe Montana's stats looked like in his absolute prime. Except Montana never threw for 4,000 yards once and Tannehill did it last season. In his prime, John Elway used to throw for like 18 TD's and 18 INT's. Please feel free to continue grasping at straws thouhgh. Furthermore- and much more pertinent to this conversation- why don't you look at RGIII's numbers through his first 14 games. -

Yeah and in those first 16 games he played at a level so far above anything Manuel has ever even dreamed of playing. His second season, he also played at a level higher than Manuel has yet to play. You are kind of a rebel without a cause on this one. -

14. And no, he most certainly did not. But regardless, you really believe that out of the 31 other NFL GM's that not one of them would trade a 4th round pick for a guy two years removed from one of the greatest rookie seasons in the history of this game that we both love so much? I think you are making this about your opinion of RGIII and it is severely clouding your judgment in terms of what other people think about him and his market value. -

OK let's say for the sake of argument you're right. RGIII is worth a 5th round pick at best. Then what is EJ Manuel worth? -

No you're just being ridiculous. -

Just got back from a hike and after paging through this thread, it's pretty clear that people are arguing three different things. Some people are saying "No RGIII sucks." OK, fine. Other people are saying, "RGIII could potentially recapture what he had in his rookie year, I'd be all about getting him on our roster." Fine as well. But very few are considering what the OP actually posed: WOULD YOU TRADE EJ MANUEL FOR HIM. So the thread should really be every bit as much about Manuel as Griffin. The answer is simple: Yes, of course. You should literally have your posting rights revoked for stating otherwise. It's insane. And I am not radically pro-RGIII. There's 15-20 Bills right now I probably wouldn't trade for him. But for people to dismiss a guy two years removed from one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history, while touting the supposed upside of a guy who a) didn't have near the pedigree coming out and b) hasn't shown nearly as much so far in the league- this is getting absolutely ridiculous around here. I don't care how much you think Griffin has lost or whatever, to state that you wouldn't trade EJ Manuel for him is nothing short of insane. Again, not that it matters because it would take a 2nd round pick to land Griffin and EJ might be worth a 6th. -

If you are that certain that he is a headcase and would disrupt our locker room somehow then I suppose that's a fair argument. I don't know the guy as well as you do apparently. But strictly speaking from a football standpoint, yes you would need your head examined if you wouldn't trade EJ Manuel and a mid round pick for Griffin. As for anyone who disagrees, I hope you realize that Griffin is worth a lot more than EJ Manuel and a mid round pick and that the Bills would jump all over that trade and the Redskins would never make it. -

I'm not saying I'm all about going out to try and get RGIII. Quite truthfully, if I had to bet, I don't think it's happening for him at this point either. But if it were a matter of trading EJ Manuel and a mid round pick to take a chance on Griffin instead of Manuel, you would have to be insane not do that. Again, two years ago, RGIII had one of the best rookie seasons by any player in the history of the NFL. Has he regressed since then? Of course. But even in his second season he still played at a level higher than Manuel has ever played. Again, this trade is not happening because Griffin is probably worth a 2nd round pick and EJ Manuel is probably worth a 6th round pick. I didn't realize the level of delusion on this website regarding some people's perceived value of EJ Manuel. -

I care. It doesn't blow your mind that someone who cares enough about the Bills to spend their time posting on a Bills fan site doesn't know how to spell the name of the QB they took in the first round two years ago? See the three things I bolded: 1. Nope, not even close. 2. He has certainly had some issues following his rookie year but you do realize that was only two years ago and was pretty much one of the better rookie QB seasons in the history of the sport of football, right? 3. I don't know what planet some of you people live on. I give up. -

Anyone who says they wouldn't trade EJ Manuel and a mid round pick for Robert Griffin III needs to get their head examined. The only reason anyone on here even defends Manuel is because they speak of this magical untapped upside/raw talent that we have yet to see. With Griffin, not only is that upside WAY higher but we've already seen it. It doesn't matter though, it's not like Washington would ever make that trade anyway. -
Which further solidifies my theory that no matter how hard not to like someone is, there will always be detractors. My favorite example is collinsworth. For my money he's the best in the business. Most knowledgeable fans agree with me on that. But of course many people on here will say they "hate" him and he's "awful." How anyone could possibly take issue with John Murphy, much less his show, which he dedicates to talking about the bills for two hours, five nights a week ALL YEAR LONG, absolutely blows my mind. Does anyone have a problem with van miller while we're at it? How about led zeppelin? Santa Claus? Ice cream?

How does a D cover this offense?
metzelaars_lives replied to scribo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Two things. a) I think he CAN be an effective game manager- especially with the personnel he has now. I just think that's the best we can hope for out of him. And b) He was every bit as bad in the San Diego game as he was in the Houston game. -
Yeah we knew of Ike Hilliard as a player so he had to be a better coach. In all seriousness though, I actually listened to that interview live and in addition to coming off as extremely knowledgeable, he sounded like such an incredible a**hole. He does sound like he's got his act together and he means business, I'll definitely give him that.
