  1. I think I would have a honest to goodness freak out if any of this happened. Jeez, I'd need to buy season tickets again! Especially the Robinson, Jenkins, Jackson scenario
  2. I need help? You need to realize that there is a huge difference between someone allegedly saying they did something, and actually getting arrested for it or being forced to leave school. Newton was forced to leave Florida because he cheated on exams, not allegedly!! I happen to think you are way over blowing this, as most happened before his senior year. The "alleged" rape threaten was never proven as, "No criminal charges were ever filed by the campus police." This was in 2009, and people grow up and mature. From the alleged fight, "What he says: On the assault allegations, in an interview with the Arizona Republic, Lewan said, “I’m not going to get into too many details, I wasn’t in any fight. I didn’t hit anybody. I was really just trying to help out a situation and break up something. I can’t really go into any more details than that. I didn’t hit anybody or do anything like that. My focus is here. I’m sure the truth will come out and it’ll all work out.” No Charges filed on anything! As for the on the field play... "A couple of those facemask deals were on accident,"Lewis said in a November interview " ... A couple of those were very blatant and I apologize for that. Even from that post the risk evaluation is medium to low. Kiper wouldn't give the guy a top ten grade if it was that big a deal. Like I said, i'm waiting to hear from Mike Mayock and others at the combine. If he grades red flag then yea, not acceptable
  3. I'm hoping they draft Greg Robinson - Jake Matthews - Taylor Lewan in the first with #9. Until I hear different from someone like Mike Mayock, Lewan still gets a top 10 grade. If all three are gone then trade back and take@ 15 or so, Eric Ebron - Cyrus Kouandjio- @ 20 or so Antonio Richardson- David Yankey- -Xavier Su'a-Filo later in the first while picking up an extra second like last year. In the second I like Cyril Richardson - A Seferian-Jenkins- Zack Martin- Kelvin Benjamin. I'd like to see the Bills go TE-OG-OT in any order with the first three picks, and if they trade back then add a WR-LBer to the mix.
  4. Because someone else started this by making the comment that Kiper graded Glenn as an OG, understand now? I merely pointed out that Mike Mayock also thought he might be a better guard because of his massive size. Like I also pointed out, that while Glenn graded very well as a pass blocker, he wasn't that great as a run blocker! "Left tackle Cordy Glenn was a second-round pick in 2012 and his starting job should be safe, but he must play better. " http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2014/02/14/football-outsiders-peg-ot-as-top-bills-need/ Football outsiders seems to think RT is the Buffalo Bills biggest need, and Chris Brown stated he feels the same way in his article.
  5. Fluker had a huge part as he played every down on offense, and that O line allowed 19 fewer sacks. That is a LOT of sacks!! Why nitpick over one statement? The thing is we still don't know how Glenn will grade with a good LG next to him. With the weak link gone, he could become the focal point of the pass rush, and then we will see how he stands up. He wasn't all that great at run blocking as tackle either. Finally, even Mike Mayock stated that while Glenn is a good tackle, that he would be an even better guard. Perhaps an all pro right away because his skill set is more suited to guard. So it wasn't just Kiper tooting that horn. READ THIS: "I have him as a solid second-round right tackle. However, if he can’t survive at right tackle, I think he’s got the size, girth and demeanor to be a potential All-Pro guard.” http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/eagles/Mayock-breaks-down-tackle-draft-options.html As good as Glenn has played at LT, I wouldn't be surprised should one of the top 3 elite OT's fall to Buffalo that the Bills move Glenn to RT or even LG depending on who they draft and when. What most fans simply refuse to comprehend is that despite the fact that the Bills were the #2 team in the NFL in rushing, and #1 in attempts. That they graded very poorly in actual run blocking!! Particularly bad on outside runs as the Bills ran up the middle 71% of the time. I've been saying as much for weeks in many threads. http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2014/02/14/football-outsiders-peg-ot-as-top-bills-need/
  6. Yes, thank you for that As for that second sentance, that is just simply true, as Cam Newton had several more severe issues and was still drafted #1 overall. Getting kicked out of school for a run in with police over a stolen laptop, and he was also caught cheating on an exam, to name a few. Trust me when I said just about every player has some red flags, as young people tend to do stupid stuff. Lewan's issues are very minor compared to some. Never arrested, and charged with any crimes that I see. He had early anger issues while playing that he correct his senior year. Like I said, very minor. This is also my hope, and the Bills trade back and grab an OT, OG, TE with those first three picks.
  7. If this team drafts defense with any of the first three picks this year my head will explode! The team already has 9 of 11 starters drafted in the first two rounds! Just a question. why no Cyrus Kouandjio or Taylor Lewan in the first?, no OG Cyril Richardson in the 2nd? I don't see Ebron at #9, 6'4'' 245 lb Eric Ebron runs a 4.67 which is great for a receiving TE, but not even close to what 6'3'' 254 lb Vernon Davis ran 4.38 which is faster then most WR's. Davis was the #6 pick by SF that year. So many teams are desperate for O line help this year. Ravens, Giants, Dolphins, and Falcons just to name a few. The Dolphins need to rebuild their entire line, and whomever the Bills pass up the Phins will surely snag. The Bills could use three new linemen, and might just go OT-OG-TE with the first three picks. Plus, every team in the first nine picks has a need for an O line player. Just about every team in the NFL will be drafting an O line player in the first three rounds IMO. It is easier to list the teams that don't have a need for the O line. 8. Ohhh a warning from the police....] What some of you don't realize is every player has some skeletons in their closest from their college days. We will hear it all at the combine this week, and if he has serious red flags that we don't know about yet then he won't even get drafted in the first round of the draft. My take is Kiper knows all there is to know about the kid, and still grades him as a top 10 pick.
  9. Have a link for this "psycho" incognito type behavior? All I've read about the guy is, he has a nasty demeanor and is a fierce competitor, which is exactly what you look for in an O lineman! WalterFootball.com also mentions that Lewan played against Jadeveon Clowney, and he wasn't beaten for a sack, and Clowney din't make him look bad. " Lewan could fit in the NFL in either a zone-blocking system or a power-man scheme. He would probably be best in a power-man scheme. It wouldn't be surprising if there is talk of Lewan moving to right tackle in the NFL during the lead up to the 2014 NFL Draft. That could be his best fit and make him more dominant. Most offensive linemen of his stature are right tackles." http://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2014tlewan.php So far the Steelers, Giants, and Titans are hoping he falls to them. In this article Mel Kiper states Lewan could go as high as the #2 pick to the Rams. "If he gets down 11 to Tennessee, he’s a heck of a pick,” Kiper said. “He could go two to St. Louis. He could go somewhere in that top grouping. Buffalo at nine is another team that is looking offensive tackle. So right now, if you had to say where he ranks on the board, he would be in the top 10. I have him at eight right now on the ‘big board.’ So he’s a top-10 guy ... you can push him up to even five, if you want.” http://www.freep.com/article/20140206/SPORTS06/302060119/2014-nfl-draft-taylor-lewan-michigan-football-mel-kiper
  10. The Bills finally build that O line thru the draft by taking an OT, OG, TE with the first three picks, in any order. They sign Dexter McCluster away from the Chiefs, and he, Spiller, Jackson terrorize opponents. Spiller has a breakout year and rushes for 1800+ yards EJ starts to develop into a franchise QB, and throws for 3000+ yards. ( one bold prediction) Thus, with a new solid O line the Bills sweep the Patriots, Jets, Dolphins and win the division, and make the playoffs.
  11. Another article I found at Ravens.com discussing Mel Kipers view on the top three OT's http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Mel-Kiper-Breaks-Down-Top-Offensive-Tackles/728117e0-1a53-4350-afa9-b11d37b7d6c9 "And this year's draft is a good place to find an offensive tackle – especially at the top of the class. "The three left tackles this year – [Auburn's] Greg Robinson, [Michigan's] Taylor Lewan and [Texas A&M's] Jake Matthews – all three will have a higher grade than the three we talked about from last year that went at the top of the board," ESPN's draft expert Mel Kiper said on a national conference call last week."
  12. As a big fan of building a top O line for the young QB's on this team. I'm just happy to see more and more Bills fans acknowledging, and recognizing the need for a better line. The Bills were able to find Cordy Glenn in the 2nd round in 2012, and were able to find Kiko Alonso in the second round in 2013. If I thought for a second that they could do that again, and find top talent like those two for the RT- LG positions. I'd say find a trade partner that covets a player at #9 and then rape them for multiple picks. In regards to adding a player to the defense with the #9 player. Currently nine of eleven of the starting players on the defense are already #1 & #2 draft picks. The Bills were the #1 team in the NFL in tackles. The #2 team in the NFL in sacks. The #4 team in the NFL in pass defense because its a passing league right? Where did all those top picks get them? Oh Yea, 6-10 again!
  13. Yea well, those two would have probably made a better impact then Colin Brown, Sam Young, or Doug Legursky. Wanna know what the Bills missed out on with DeCastro : and for the same reasons the Bills were 6-10 again last year. Lions DT Ndamukong Suh didn't record any tackles, sacks or pressures in Sunday's Week 11 loss at Pittsburgh. Much of the credit goes to Steelers RG David DeCastro, who is emerging as one of the best interior linemen in football. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/7412/david-decastro
  14. Why? They clearly didn't!! The superior talent on that team in my view is on the sidelines in terms of coaching. We weren't discussing Seattle's O line, or offense, and I'm not an expert by any means. I'm just here trying to convince others that so much effort has been put into so many other positions, on the defense, on skill position players, and on supposed play makers that have gotten them nowhere. The one O linemen they have drafted in the first round is still there. Still the center pin of the line. Centers aren't supposed to be drafted in the first round either, according to most fans here. Want to discus an O line, then lets talk the 49ers. LT Joe Staley a 1st LG Mike Iupati a 1st RT Anthony Davis a 1st The biggest, and probably the sole reason I'm all for drafting an OT at #9 is because I have very little faith they will get super lucky enough to find another Cordy Glenn for the right side in later rounds like most here want. I have very little faith in the Bills scouts to find another diamond like Glenn. Particularly when the past history shows me they can't find a top O line player in later rounds. Then be saddled with more mediocre to below average players, and the team goes nowhere for another few years. cool debating with you KB because you don't morph into a tool, so I'll just keep trying to get you as passionate as I am about OT's..big uglies rule. In terms of what exactly? The argument here is already beyond the FACT that this team needs three new O linemen, as KB stated. What we are discussing is if its pertinent to draft an OT at #9.
  15. Draft "elite" DB's huh... like the Seahawks? Where were those elite DB's drafted ? LCB Richard Sherman 5th round RCB Brandon Browner FA SS Kam Chancellor 5th round. could have been MVP, as he also played a big role in that game FS Earl Thomas 1st round, 14th pick Looking over that dominate Seattle defense they have two #1's, one #2, and the MVP LB Malcolm Smith was a 7th round pick. The Bills have 9 of 11 players on defense drafted in the first two round, and all it has gotten them is 6-10. How about now building that O properly!! After being out a year I wouldn't count on Hairston for anything but a backup spot, and even then...because we fans simply don't know the extent of his illness. He tweeted this month that he is still getting better, and from what we don't know. It must be something serious to take this long to recover from. No offense KB, but I doubt you have a real understanding of exactly how important every position on that O line is, or that you think this team can pluck a top RT in later rounds. So far that has never worked! I want the Bills to plug in a JD Fluker type player, and in my view that won't be had in later rounds. Did you see the impact that kid had on his team last season? It remains to be seen what the final grades are on all the OT's in the years draft, and there are supposedly 7 in the top 50. So, stating that there might be another decent OT in the second round. Will there be another Cordy Glenn? I dunno, will there be another really good OT who everyone had graded as an OG, so he fell to Buffalo in the second round, Zack Martin may certainly fit that. With Levitre, Wood, Glenn they were two players away from having a great O line, and now this year they are three players away I've been waiting almost forever for this team to build a dominate OL and they never do. Last off season was particularly frustrating for me because I got to watch the Bills let an above average starting O line player leave, and then the Bills try and replace him with a player who didn't even qualify as a decent backup, or PS player. From my trying to state my concerns about the line in this forum, and all I caught for it was grief from the thinktheyknowitalls that the O line would be just as good as it was in 2012, it wasn't. In fact, it was worse in pass blocking then it was back in 2010 with Fitz virtually running for his life nearly every game.
  16. where did it get this team? Oh yea, another 6-10 season, and it really isn't that complicated. Nobody but the experts know how to grade Lewan, and he could become an all pro. We fans will get the breakdown during the combine in six days. Should the Bills draft him and he starts at RT, and grades in the green against the Patriots while allowing EJ time to throw. Allows the bills to control the clock in both passing, and running then hell yeah he is more important in my view. I just think most of the fans here just don't understand how important it is to have a solid dependable top O line from tackle to tackle. To protect that young developing QB. Now think a min, everyone says that the Bills can find good talent in the later rounds, since when? The second round a later round? Howsabout finding a LBer in the later rounds like the Seahawks did with the Seattle super bowl MVP 7th round LBer Malcolm Smith!! How about the other MVP in safety Kam Chancellor who was a 5th round pick in 2010. You know, the kid who also intercepted Manning.
  17. Man, stop it with this complicated thing called logic! There you have it, the best and brightest passing QB, and legend of the NFL can't complete a pass because he no time to throw to his cast of elite receivers. Bills fans here just don't want a boring future all pro OT that could protect the QB's for years to come. They all want a speedy WR that nobody can get the ball to because the QB doesn't have time to throw. They want a TE that can score in the red zone, and never mind that the QB can't hit him with the ball because he is on his back.
  18. Man do I disagree with that remark. Anyway, the entire point of that post wasn't to argue about the draft, or who was responsible! It was to show that this team has done nothing but spend picks on skill positions / defense save one lone pick with a first round draft choice on the O line the last ten years, and he is still there as the center pin of that line.
  19. and how has that worked out for this franchise the last 14 years? Because that is more or less what they have in constantly drafting defense, DB's, RB's , and the one time they go O line in Eric Wood they get a very good starter. 2004 WR Lee Evans 13th & QB JP Losman 22nd.. how much impact did those #1's skill players have? were they difference makers? 2005 WE Roscoe Parrish #55 second round pick, because the team traded away its first to the Cowboys for JP 2006 DB Donte Whitner #8, John McCargo #26 how did these two work out? Whitner in SF, and McCargo a complete bust 2007 RB Marshawn Lynch #12, now has a SB ring with the Seahawks because the Bills traded him for a 4th 2008 DB Leodis McKelvin #11.... 2009 DE Aaron Maybin #11, C Eric Wood #28. Maybin a complete bust and Wood a solid starter. 2010 RB CJ Spiller #9, when the team was desperate for a decent LT the team chose a RB in a position that already had a #1 RB in Lynch. skill player. 2011 DT Marcell Dareus #3 overall. in retrospect do the Bills even consider MD? AJ Green- Patrick Peterson-Julio Jones-Aldon Smith-JJ Watt 2012 Stephon Gilmore #10.... Any of those skill players make the difference between a bad team and a playoff team? Let me answer, NO! The last time the Bills built the O line with high priced free agents in Derrick Dockery - Langston Walker they were screwed as neither player played anywhere near expectations, and all they did was manage to piss off the starting all pro LT who was underpaid.
  20. Some of you guys are a bit delusional to think this coaching staff would go with Fitz over the young players on the roster. It would mean they would need to drop Tuel to the practice squad, and perhaps even Lewis. Wanna talk decent backup QB's, howsabout Josh McCown whose salary was 865k last year.
  21. Not only that, He wants to be a Buffalo Bill!! He wants to play in Buffalo, and stay in Buffalo. Besides, the very last thing I would want to see is Tom Brady making Stevie a 100+ reception receiver.
  22. You would hope that a top ten pick would be of pro bowl quality, and as good as Fluker. Think what an improvement to the offense a player like that could make, and the impact of a top player at his position. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/four-downs/2014/four-downs-afc-east This franchise has been picking at or near the top ten of the draft for over a decade and the results have been far from stellar. The main reason for a new, renewed hope is young GM Doug Whaley who seemed to hit several home runs in not only last years draft class. Plus, he did excellent in a trade to with the Colts to acquire Jerry Hughes, free agent acquisitions Manny Lawson & Alan Branch. Now if he can find five new starters this off season, and some decent depth this team should be ready for a playoff run. LG-RT-WR-TE-LBer I read a that Chris Hairston states he is getting better, so who knows what his current situation is. Personally, If healthy, I'd rather see him as the backup RT
  23. Antonio or Cyril ? Yea, either way, still a nice ring!
  24. sure you don't mean curitiba and pig?
