I'm quite certain that they won't care. 42,540 season ticket holders for 2013 in a stadium that holds 73,967. " The Bills’ season ticket totals over the past 10 years: 2013 – 42,540; 2012 – 43,265; 2011 – 37,355; 2010 – 43,925; 2009 – 55,194; 2008 – 56,011; 2007 – 48,236; 2006 – 43,187; 2005 – 47,246; 2004 – 42,553." http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/bills-notebook-season-ticket-sales-drop-slightly-from-12-20130905 Should JBJ win the bid with his group, then they will more then likely start the process of building a new stadium in Toronto. The team will then move up north after the lease is up, or when the stadium is finished. The new owners will probably change the name to to disassociate themselves from the last 20 years of losing culture when they move. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer/jason-la-canfora/24275196/jon-bon-jovi-interested-in-purchasing-the-buffalo-bills Toronto has a population of 2.79 million and is close to the population of Chicago at 2.80 million, which is the 4th largest city in North America. Toronto has nearly everything in sports already, Blue Jays (MLB) Maple Leafs (NHL) Raptors(NBA) plus pro soccer, and Lacrosse teams. Along with a plethora of minor league teams. All they lack is an NFL team, and the fan base would go nuts to buy tickets to their very own NFL team IMO.

I never disputed that fact. All I said was given that there were so many other bad players on that line. Why would teams try and attack the strongest point. They wouldn't, and didn't. Its all moot anyway because I don't see the Bills drafting Matthews, as he will be long gone by #9. Then I don't see them drafting an OG with the #2 or 3 picks either, as apparently Brandon has his asinine moneyball scheme working on the O line. Why else would the Bills pay a lousy player like Chris Williams 5.5 guaranteed to play LG.
-
It could be that Glenn looked so dominate because opposing teams didn't focus their pass rush towards him, as the Bills had more then two bad players on that line. Why on earth would teams focus on a good pass blocker when there are two complete scrubs they can stunt, and bring the blitz at. Pears at RT got a lot of that heat and under performed most of the year, and this is a big reason as to why everyone is talking OT. Brown at LG graded as the very worst player in the NFL right up until the Bills cut him and replaced him with a slightly less bad OG. Should the Bills beef up that line it will be interesting to see if Glenn can still perform at the level he did in 2013. I'm sure they tried at first, and when they didn't get very far they moved on to weaker areas. Teams watch film and copy what they see other teams doing to exploit weaknesses in an O line.
-
Here is something for all the Glenn lovers to contemplate. If indeed the Bills do bring in a top OT with that #9 pick, or even trade back and still draft an OT later in the first or second round. I can assure you that the rookie wherever selected will start at RT. Now, with the right side strengthened the weak points are still at the guards, as both players are very questionable IMO. Should the Bills shore up at least one OG spot in the first three picks then the entire line would be upgraded to the point that they could easily become a dominate line in the league. That said, opposing team will no longer focus their primary attack points at the OG's or RT like they did the last two years. Then we will see if Glenn is truly a dominate LT in the league, as teams will no longer have other areas to exploit. This is something I would really like to find out if Glenn is capable at that point, If he is then fine, he stays at LT. If not, he could be moved to RT. All this speculation is moot in my opinion, as the Bills have about as much chance of drafting an OT, plus an OG with the first three picks has about as much chance in happening as the Sabres have in winning a championship....this year!

Its no rumor as he is directly connected with that group, and they do indeed intend to bid on the the Buffalo Bills. If they do win the bid the team will move to Toronto after the lease is up. So, lets all hope Trump or someone who will keep the team ion Buffalo wins the bid http://www.torontosun.com/2014/04/10/bon-jovi-part-of-toronto-group-expected-to-bid-on-bills

Who believes in Manuel?
thewildrabbit replied to Chi-town Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
EJ did just what Jim Kelly did when he found he was drafted by the Buffalo Bills. They both cried, and for totally different reasons. Jim Kelly didn't want to play in the cold, as he spent his college days at the U were it is always warm and sunny. Then there was the owner factor who was nortiously frugal, and also Kelly knew the Bills couldn't strike a deal with #1 overall pick in 1979 in LB Tom Cousineau. Kelly wasn't positive that the Bills were committed to winning, and sought to be traded elsewhere after the USFL folded. Bill Polian talked him into being a Buffalo Bill. OTOH, EJ cried tears of joy to be a first round draft pick when he was reading reports that a few months earlier stated he would be a 4th round pick. Shoot, back in Jan, Feb the kid wasn't even in anyone's top 5 list of QB's for that year. Then there is EJ's godfather who is none other then hall of fame DE Bruce Smith. This kid wanted to be a Buffalo Bill more then anyone knows. http://blogs.buffalonews.com/sully_on_sports/2013/04/bruce-smith-the-godfather.html If this regime isn't going to draft the proper supporting cast to protect their first round pick at QB in this upcoming draft by going OT-OG with two of the first three picks to give EJ an honest chance to have some success. Then I can only hope that when new ownership takes over they fire everyone in the entire Org. I'm almost hoping its Donald Trump, so he can go face to face with Russs, and say those words. -
My long awaited mock draft 1.0
thewildrabbit replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Clearly stupidity reigns in Houston....or doesn't. If they want to trade out of the top pick it means they don't trust Clowney's work ethic, or don't think Mack is worthy either. If they don't draft a QB #1 overall they don't think there is the talent there to justify that pick. I'm thinking they trade back if they can, and not to far so they can't take a Bortles, Manziel, or even a QB in the 2nd round to develop. The thing is, is that this draft is so over loaded with good talent thru the first 3 rounds it makes more sense to stock up on extra draft picks then draft a guy you are not certain is going be an Andrew Luck type franchise QB. This team took that super star DE in super Mario #1 overall and learned that a super talented DE isn't the end all, be all player they thought he would be. -
What is the biggest difference between the Buffalo Bills and the Seattle Seahawks? In my view its the coaching staff, and having people at the top who actually know who to hire. This has been the problem with the team for almost 20 years, as the Bills don't have a Bill Polian, John Buter GM, nor an Ozzie Newsome type president. The owner was the president, and hired a marketing man to run the football operations. This team is still out of touch in what it takes to build a winning team. Nobody in this FO would ever contemplate giving up the money the Jags would have paid center Alex Mack, or the money Cleveland will pay him to stay with the Browns. This Org just doesn't value the O line players as highly as they do the D linemen. What amazes me to this day is how many fans on this site side with this dysfunctional front office over this. Anyway, I'm also hoping the new owner /s want to clean sweep this entire front office and coaching staff, and rid itself of this losing culture.

I think you could define the last 14 years of losing to the ignorance of the various coaching staffs on what a top O line could do to help win games. Even some fans here vehemently defend the thinking that O line scubs can win games, even championships. So many current fans think teams can develop a SB winning QB behind a bad line, and if he doesn't succeed ...well then, the QB is the one to fault. I can't really blame the fans too much because there is a consensus even on NFL coaching staffs that the O line isn't that important...the Buffalo Bills for example. I look at the Houston Texans expansion and poor rookie QB David Carr was 76 times sacked in his first year. To put that in perspective the Bills only allowed 48 sacks last year, and they were the fifth worst in allowing sacks. I firmly believe in building a top line before drafting the franchise QB. Apparently this FO doesn't think that way considering how they replaced their best OG after he left for Tennessee, and what they went into last years season with on that line.
-
Man, just glad there is someone out there besides me that sees this stuff. No real upgrades to that line again this year means SSDY... I don't think EJ was ready to start last year, and this team just didn't care to go with a vet QB. They must feel the same way again this year or they would have signed a vet QB by now. The current staff is so afraid that if they put Tuel on the practice squad that some other team will snatch him away, like he is gold or something. Gotta be the reason they kept him active all last year. I suppose they see something in the kid I don't see, or something that 31 other teams don't see because he wasn't drafted. He looks to be a big time project at even an NFL backup job to me. The Bills have a decent opportunity to obtain a viable winning college QB this year with a #2 or #3 draft pick, and way better then Tuel IMO.

I love me some OT's, aka big uglies...and even I wouldn't trade up from #9 to #3 to draft an OT. http://walterfootball.com/draftchart.php Do the math guys, as the ONLY player I'd give up extra picks for in this draft loaded with talent is for a QB. The Bills believe they have their man in EJ. I wouldn't do it for Watkins, or even Mack as there is simply far to many team needs, and so much talent in this draft. Besides, Taylor Lewan might still be there, and if not the bills could trade back a few spots and pick up a fav player of mine in Zack Martin.

Donald Trump asked to invest in the Bills
thewildrabbit replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At first glance I hated the idea of Donald Trump owning my favorite NFL football team. Then I thought about it and remembered he owned the NJ Generals in the USFL. When I heard he was all for buying the team, and keeping them in Buffalo it partially changed my mind. Whats most important? I came to the realization that this man wants to win games, as he already has 3.9 billion. He won't settle for the craptastic coaching staffs this franchise has endured since Marv & Wade. This man would change the entire losing culture of this team, as he wants to win!! Besides, Bills fans have been bitching for years about the Buffalo Bills not getting the national attention that other teams get, and Trump would sure change that. -
Some observations about potential new ownership
thewildrabbit replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't be surprised to find that Jon Bon Jovi ,and his group MLSE will be the highest bidder for the team. "Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment" That once they own the team they build a new stadium and move the team up north. . Change the name so the fans will call it "their" team. Once Toronto has an NFL team there simply won't be an allowable market for Buffalo. MLSE is the Toronto sports powerhouse that owns that city’s NHL and NBA teams (Maple Leafs and Raptors) and the arena they play in (Air Canada Centre), as well as the city’s MLS team (Toronto FC) and AHL team (Marlies). With a population of over six million, Toronto is the second largest city without an NFL team, next to LA. The NFL Commissioner wants a team in Toronto. EDIT to add link. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24521645/report-bon-jovi-part-of-toronto-group-trying-to-buy-buffalo-bills Bon Jovi is also buddies with Robert Kraft (Patriots owner), Arthur Blank (Falcons owner) and other NFL owners. So again, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see his group get approval from other NFL owners for buying the team. Should Russs Brandon be retained as CEO after the sale, and the team still keeps losing. I could see the group using that as an excuse to move the team. -
Where I remember that term from is da Boomer on ESPN. Always with the nicknames for ever player. His other noted remark was ''nobody circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills". Of course that was in the glory days of the 90's. Nowadays they don't even have wagons.

I dunno what games you were watching last year. The ones that really stood out to me were the Jets first game, Steelers, Buc's, Saints, Patriots. Complete, and utter domination by the Jets, steelers, Bucs. It was embarrassing to watch to those games, as the Bills line was obliterated. Everyone keeps throwing up the RB numbers and think the line was great because the Bills were the #2 rushing team in the NFL. The sad fact is the Bills were last in almost every category concerning ball control. 25th in 3 downs and out. 29th in 3rd down efficiency. 30th in 4th down efficiency. 29th in yards per play. 31st in first down stats, 1116 plays, 301 first downs 27%. The only team worse in first downs were the Jags. The Bills were a great rushing team because of one good O lineman in center Eric Wood, and their two RB's. The Bills graded poorly in run blocking, and In pass blocking they all sucked except Glenn. The Bills played a lot of bad teams last year, and still ended up 6-10. Had they kept Levitre, or replaced him properly. Then brought in a better RT, and a decent vet QB the entire season could have been a different story. The Seahawks suffered a lot of injuries to their O line last season and many O line players didn't play a full 16 games. To their credit they were still able to win the super bowl despite all those injuries. Want to talk depth, the Bills had scrubs right off the waiver wire after week six for depth on their O line. The Hawks drafted a very mobile QB in Wilson who didn't need more then 3 seconds in the pocket, and could easily escape pressure, make plays, score TD's. A player this team overlooked. The fact remains that Pete Carroll still drafted those O line players in an effort to build a better O line. Clearly his forte is with the defensive secondary, and developing 5th round players into all pro's in 2 years.
-
So many fans want a good O line, and yet don't want to waste valuable early draft picks on them. The very first overall pick by last years super bowl winning HC in Pete Carroll was an OT in 2010, the #6 overall pick. Yea, the very same year that Chan Gailey and Buddy Nix took over the Buffalo Bills. While the Bills were drafting a RB they didn't need in Spiller (BPA)?, and were still very desperate for a LT because they never properly replaced Jason Peters from the 2009 trade. However, the new Seahawks HC decided to build that O line first thing in 2010. Then the very next year the hawks drafted more O linemen with their first round, and second pick in 2011. Then in 2012 they drafted their QB in the third round in Russell Wilson. How to build a super bowl team (Pete Carroll) vs how to build a toilet bowl team (Gailey, Nix). Now the same stuff with Whaley, Marrone all under Russ Brandon. I hope new ownership fires this entire staff of clueless morons, the sooner the better.

Favorite draft pick by the Bills this millenium?
thewildrabbit replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
in 2009 the bills had 2 #1 picks, and 2 #2 picks, and with the second pick in each round they drafted Eric Wood & Andy Levitre. I almost couldn't believe that Dick Jauron would draft an O linemen over a DB or defensive player. Oh wait, I forgot that Aaron Maybin was the first, first round pick that year. That Jairus Byrd was the second, second round pick. Hard to believe that both Levitre, Byrd are already playing for other teams. Anyway, my favorite pick is Eric Wood. A guy who the Bills ran behind 71% of the time last year, unsung hero IMO. -
Now, if only this current team gave a flying fornication about building a top O line, or one with talent equal to the Bills D line. In the 60's the Bills had all pro's at every position on that line when they won 2 AFL championships. In the 70's they had the "electric co" for OJ, and the first 2000 yard rusher. In the late 80', early 90's they had 3 of 5 pro bowlers who could run that hurry up so well it wore down opposing teams. Now they seem content to dumpster dive for other teams rejects....is it any wonder why they don't win many games.

Who believes in Manuel?
thewildrabbit replied to Chi-town Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Casserly, I used to listen to what he would say until I heard what Bill Belichick had to say about him... “Who’s been wrong more than Charley Casserly since he left the Redskins? His percentage is like a meteorologist,” Belichick said. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/01/04/belichick-whos-been-been-wrong-more-than-charlie-casserly/ There is a reason the guy is no longer a GM of an NFL team. -
Who believes in Manuel?
thewildrabbit replied to Chi-town Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who believes in Manuel? raises hand...memememememe! If he doesn't get better protection then the 108 hits, 48 sacks from last season he could easily morph into another JP-TE. Should he get better protection this season, along with more time to make throws he could develop into a viable starter. This developmental process usually lasts longer then a year or two. -
Howsabout 19 years that only 5 O line players drafted in the first, and second rounds. You can take this back to 1995 in which they drafted an OG with the 14th pick in Ruben Brown. A player who was an 8x pro bowler, and played in the NFL 12 years. This was John Butler doing the drafting. God forbid an OG drafted in the first round...what a waste. Darn shame that the best pass blocker of the bunch is already on a different team, Levitre, Wood, Glenn. One step forward, and two steps backwards. Each time the Bills are close to building a top O line they change directions towards the defense.

Who believes in Manuel?
thewildrabbit replied to Chi-town Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This! +1000 Because as of right now it will be a difficult task for any QB to be successful for a team that doesn't believe in building a top O line like the Buffalo Bills have done for 15 years. Unless EJ can quickly morph into a Fitz clone with a better arm, along with Fitz's ability to get the ball out in two seconds or under. With Fitz's ability to read defenses and make the line calls, and adjustments. Or, unless EJ can read and run like Russell Wilson who doesn't need a pocket to hold for more then 2 seconds. My EJ confidence is at 80% with a better O line, new OG, OT. With the current O line players that meter goes to almost nothing, and no QB will last the season behind that line. It is to bad that this is a team sport and the QB is so dependent on the players around him.
