  1. Be careful what you hope for, even if it is a joke. The Bills did have 6 DB's, and 6 RB's in for pre draft visits. which is the most out of the 29 interviews http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2014/4/27/5657932/nfl-draft-2014-buffalo-bills-pre-draft-visitors-breakdown/in/5338091 First round a DB, second round a RB.... Bills head literally explodes...
  2. man, you can say that again "We kicked our ESPN NFL Nation live mock draft with a bang just minutes ago, swinging a deal with ESPN Houston Texans reporter Tania Ganguli for the first overall pick. In return, Tania and the Texans received the Bills' first-round pick (No. 9 overall), second-round pick (No. 41 overall), their 2015 first-round and third-round picks, and 2016 second-round pick. " #9 first round this year, #2 this year. first round & third round 2015, 2016 second round. = His senior year he had only 3 QB's sacks all year... against young men in College. Talk about a disappearing act. is it any wonder why the Texans would want to trade out of the #1 overall. The guy is a top ten pick, although Mike Mayock has him ranked at #2 behind Mack.
  3. My take is all three of the top OT's will be long gone by #9, and even Zack Martin might taken before #9 if only one QB gets taken. BTW, Mike Mayock has Zack Martin ranked ahead of Lewan in his latest top 100.
  4. man, my jealously runs rampant a super bowl winning QB with a drink in one hand and his super model wife in the other...what paupers in every way
  5. same, While everyone here must already know who I want to draft. Let me just say i'd like to steal him out from under the NY Jests. such a deep draft with so much talent, I only hope they can gain a few long term starters out of this year
  6. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't, but there are also other reasons. The Bills biggest need is not another receiver, as they just used two #3's, and a #2, made a trade for an established good WR in Mike Williams. In the most talent laden draft in the past decade this team is thinking of trading up and giving up picks. They should be thinking of trading back instead. This team is NOT one player away from anything, as they need to fill several holes. The first and foremost reason I hate the idea of trading up is giving up those picks that for the first time in years this draft that could entail starters being found in rounds 3 & 4. The Bills have a corps of 2nd year QB's that were harried, hit, and hurried far to often last year. (108 hits, 48 sacks) 3 of 5 players on that line graded in the red against the Patriots. The biggest need as I perceive it is O line. I think what Bill was trying to convey is that over the last 14 years this team has expended so many resources on RB's, DB's, on the defense, and where has it gotten them? A defense so overloaded with talent that 9 of 11 starters are 1st & 2nd round draft choices. Still 6-10. Not one regime in all that time has come in and built a proper O line with top talent across the board. Which is exactly what helped propel this franchise to two AFL championships and four super bowls. On another note, should the Bills trade up and it doesn't get them a winning season. Well then, I could see it as the final nail for this regime.
  7. I'd rather have it the other way around, and allow the QB to elevate the Bills to win games by getting him the best protection I possibly can. The Atlanta Falcons are a good example here. In 2007 Atlanta was 4-12. They drafted QB Matt Ryan #3 overall back in 2008, and the team went 11-5 with a new QB, HC, staff. Then in 2011 the Falcons FO perceived all they needed was one more elite WR, as they already had two all pro's in their receiving corsp in Tony Gonzalaz, and WR Roddy White. The Falcons went ahead and give up five picks for him. Two #1's, a #2, a #3, a #4 for him, and they did win more games. The big difference is that they already had their developed franchise QB. The Bills are not in the same situation, as they don't already have an all pro TE, all pro WR, or franchise QB who is already developed. Plus, the Bills don't have only one perceived need. They need an OT, OG, DE, TE, LBer, WR. I'd rather see them fill three of those holes with starters this draft rather then one player. As for the Bengals they were in the playoffs back in 2009 with Carson Palmer at QB, and Chad Johnson & TJ whosyourmama at WR, so they already had the nucleus of a playoff team before they drafted Green or Dalton. The Bills had a shot to draft Andy Dalton. Like I've already said, I just don't trust these guys to get it right on one player.
  8. How can you think that an elite WR can make a difference on a team in which the QB clearly doesn't have enough time in the pocket to make plays. It certainly didn't work when the team brought in TO, as the QB just couldn't get him the ball. Instead of getting him another receiver, get him more protection. The Bills have an elite D line, and how many games did they win? The Bills have an elite secondary in terms of high drafted players, and how many games did they win? What kind of bothers me here is all the references to WR's AJ Green taken #4 or WR Julio Jones taken #6, and the Bills had a shot to draft either one of them, and chose a DT at #3 in Marcell Dareus instead. How much impact has Dareus had on winning games? The Falcons gave up so many draft picks for Jones that year, five draft picks in all. Giving up their 1st, 2nd, 3rd round picks in 2011, and their 1st, and 4th round pick in 2012. Good lord, the bills could have drafted him with their pick or traded back gained some extra picks and still drafted him. I absolutely hate the idea of this team trading up and giving up a bunch of draft picks for one guy, simply because I don't trust them to get it right with that one player! Anyway, I still have difficulty in thinking of one elite WR who turned a average QB into a great one.
  9. Maybe I missed something, but didn't the Patriots go 12-4 last year? No question elite QB's do more with elite weapons. What I'm saying is looked what happened when Deion Branch left the Patriots after he won the SB MVP with Brady. Do you think Eric Decker is going to make the same impact with the Jets that he made with the Broncos. I think SJ would look a whole lot better with Brady, Brees, Manning throwing to him, and so would Chandler. There is no question that Watkins is a top talent. My problem is what the Bills need to give up to get him, and "what if" he falls on his face in the pros (which does happen)? That is a lot of picks to give up for one guy if he fails. Then there is the drug thing...
  10. NFN, but those QB's make their receivers, and not the other way around.
  11. I'm with you Bill in the stating that if this team is determined to go forward with EJ at QB, then they need better protection for him, and that entails a better RT. I don't so much dislike the idea of picking WR Sammy Watkins in this draft, even considering his two game suspension in 2012 for drugs. What I do dislike is needing to trade up for him, and giving up picks in this draft or next. I don't like the idea of trading up for anyone in the draft as I have issues with each and every one of those supposed elite five. I also don't like the newest idea of a trade up for WR Mike Evans either. I'd rather see the Bills trade back a few spots, and pick up an extra second rounder. This way they could conceivably draft three good starters to really help the team win this year.
  12. From what Whaley stated is that he had some input in hiring Doug Marrone, Mike Pettine, and the selection of EJ. Buddy Nix was technically the GM, and Whaley didn't take over until after the draft. Whaley also stated he is all in on EJ. Looking for accountability perhaps?
  13. From everything I've been reading the Sabers were gone if TG didn't step in and save them. However, the Bills appear to have several people looking to buy the team who will keep them in Buffalo. The very last thing I want to see is an owner who wants to maximize profits over winning games. I want to see someone come in and change this culture of constant losing.
  14. Thanks! I would like scenario one, and not so much scenario two, three, as I really don't see the glaring need for a WR....unless. But then I went and looked at a list of Buffalo Bills 29 pre draft visitors 6 RB's, 6 CB's ...nothing changes http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2014/4/27/5657932/nfl-draft-2014-buffalo-bills-pre-draft-visitors-breakdown/in/5338091
  15. If the team really wants to sell lots of tickets this year, yes. If the team is going forward with the current players on the O line, yes. It sure would make a huge splash in the dead pool of water surrounding this team the last 14 years. If ya think the kid will be a winner in the NFL, then yes.
  16. That is the difference between you and me, and probably me and the entire board here. I would freak out if the team drafted an OT in the first, and freak out in a good way. I would probably be looking to buy season tickets again if they went OT in the first, and OG in the second. Conversely, what would absolutely suck for me is another defensive first round pick on a team loaded with #1's & #2's, save perhaps Mack. The reality? I can see the Bills drafting another DB since there are no RB's rated that high.
  17. I click the link and get an error. From reading thru, and am wondering why the Bills would be targeting another WR in the 2nd. Unless they are not happy with who they drafted last year or intend to dump SJ. I don't see Martin lasting past the NY Giants at #12, and if the top three OT's are gone by #4 like last year. I can envision teams trying to trade up to snag Martin in front of Buffalo, and not necessarily because they think the bills want him either.
  18. Mike Mayock elevated Manziel to his #1QB, and last I've heard he likes Mack over Clowney. I get all the hype over Clowney, really. But c'mon, the kid only had three sacks last year, and seemed to disappear during some games. #1 overall...I can see why the Texans might want to trade back a few spots. Listening to Doug Whaley he states the team has no weak areas and will draft BPA. If that is the case then perhaps the Bills are looking at a QB who can scramble and make plays like Johnny Football.
  19. So, perhaps we still don't know the full extent of that phrase just yet. I think of Brandon / Marrone "on like a mofo" in a different context. I continue to hope someone buys the team who wants to put a winning team on the field above all else.
  20. Seriously agree, and not sure what to expect if TG buys the team. All I want is to see a winning Bills team take the field in Buffalo. Yikes, after reading some of the posts in this thread I'd almost rather see Donald Trump buy the team. At the very least we could be assured he would want a winning team, and wouldn't tolerate all this losing.
  21. Darn Yolo you sold me on the RB, and I can only hope you are right. I'd also like to see an OG in there rather then a TE, as Tony M might be able to fill that role.
  22. If past history is any indicator.... Not saying this is completely lame as I think both players are really good. Its just I don't see Martin at #9, and could envision a trade back if they want an OT and the top three are gone. The RB idea seems far fetched considering they already have two elite RB's in Jackson - Spiller. But then again this team did draft Spiller when they already had a 1000 yard rusher in Lynch. I would think if they wanted to trade Spiller he would have been dealt to the Eagles who inquired about a trade for him earlier. By the same token I also think all this talk of trading up for a WR is just that, talk. They already have SJ, just traded for Mike Williams, and Robert Woods / Marquise Goodwin should show some progress this year. Stranger stuff has happened with this team tho. In four days and we will know.
  23. Frankly, I don't get the need for another WR either, be it Watkins or Evans. I'm not really keen on a TE in Ebron at #9 either. Trading back for more picks is what I'm for, as I don't see this team as just one player away.
  24. What was the teams win / loss record last year, oh yeah 6-10. SSDY. Buddy Nix was the GM for last years draft, and stepped down afterwards. Nix let Levitre leave with no compensation, and Whaley let another second rounder from that 2009 leave with no compensation. While Whaley made some good moves on the defensive side of the ball, he also made some really boneheaded moves on the offensive side. Anyway, In case you missed it I was talking about someone with some actual power at the top besides the money men. I want to see this team win more games then they lose during a season, and I have no faith that this regime will ever accomplish that. EDIT: Keeping the team in Buffalo, and making them a winner is all I care about!
  25. Just about every player drafted by this team after the second round the last 14 years didn't amount to very much. But its not just the scouting department, as the entire org has been bad in about every respect. No GM for the longest time, no accountability on the HC until the three years are up. Bad drafts, bad choices in free agents, bad coaches, bad schemes. Recently nine of the eleven starters on defense were all 1st or 2nd round picks, and still near last in the league in stopping the run. Even last year under Mike Pettine they still stunk against the run. In order to get that elusive franchise QB teams usually spend their first round pick on them, save Buffalo. Would you believe that EJ is the very first QB taken first in the first round by this team in the 50+ year of the history of the team. Things did improve last year in many ways for the defense, as for the offense not so much.
