This is not false! What got Gailey fired wasn't the type of plays he called with a known limited QB. Which BTW were very predictable after he kept calling the same quick, short passing plays game after game. What got Gailey fired more then anything in my view is his over use of that broken QB vs the two superstars he had at RB. Gailey was all about smoke and mirrors and trying to confuse the opposing defense with his lame 4- 5 WR sets when only one of those WR's was worth a damn. What he should have been doing was figuring out more ways to make the run game work better or get the ball in space to his playmakers at RB. Lets also not forget how often the bum gave up entirely on the run game even when the team was only down by 3 points.

There is, and what might get Hackett fired is the very same thing that got Chan Gailey fired. Which was his over expectations from a known limited QB!! Gailey called plays like he had Brady / Brees behind center, and he didn't. A man has got to know his limitations, and more importantly the limitations of his QB. Gutsy playcalling with an undrafted rookie QB who won 4 games out of 26 while in college is nothing more then moronic. Leave the gutsy play calls for the QB's who have proven they can make plays in crunch time. Otherwise let the known stars do their jobs (RB's), and it helps even more if you manage to put them in position to succeed in making plays. Did I also mention that Hackett called 70% of his running plays right up the middle with Spiller as the lead back. You don't have a racehorse pull a plow either... This type of play calling tends to be very predictable, and in the NFL that means it will get shut down very quickly. The RB's, and linemen were experienced and could have handled more complicated run schemes. That said, Nate Hackett was also an NFL rookie, and should be given some leeway as he was learning as the season went on. Gailey never learned, and put all his efforts into a broken QB who should have remained a backup. Lets hope that Hackett has learned from his experience from the 2013 season, and went back and watched what Gailey did to get Spiller more productive. One thing is for certain, is that Hackett has a much better receiving corps then Gailey ever had. All we can do is hope he knows how to utilize all those fine young players. Watkins, Williams, Woods, Goodwin.

Should the Bills Cut Dareus? - Jerry Sullivan Article

and absurd, only this from bored Bills fans that can't wait for the season to start. just about every NFL team is dealing with issues with some players this time of the year. lets not forget that the Patriots have a murderer that is on trial. ohhh drag racing....lets cut him -

same The Bills have the best RB tandem in the East, and arguably the best WR corps now. An improved O line, and with some better play calling along with some better QB play they might just be fighting for the division at the end of the season. -

Not from what i see, as opposing teams will be so concerned with that #4 overall at WR, and Mike Williams that they just might overlook the guy in the slot. Should everyone stay healthy, and out of trouble... I can see four Bills receivers with 60+ receptions this year. Watkins, Woods, Williams, and Chandler. Moeaki could also be a big factor. Like I said tho, the biggest issue in my view isn't with the players. Its with the second year OC who may or may not be able to step it up with the right game plans, play calls. Despite being the #2 rushing team in the NFL, last years team struggled mightily to stay on the field, and finish drives. With that new beast at RT, and some new blood at OG the Bills should also be able to control the line of scrimmage while dominating with the run. -

Watkins probably isn't going to be the best WR on the team this season as rookie wideouts generally don't do so well in their first seasons. According NFL.com's fantasy football guru Michael Fabino. Rookie WR's typically don't make a huge impact. Since 2009 154 rookie WR's have been drafted, and only 6 have been in the top 20 in fantasy football scoring. Even if everyone equates Sammy to Julio Jones 54 rec, 959 yards 8TD's his rookie year. Jones went to an already established playoff team in Atlanta and had QB Matt Ryan throwing to him. Plus Atlanta already had a #1 WR in Roddy White, and a top 10 TE in Tony Gonzalaz. Not to mention a great ground, and pound run game with Michael Turner at RB. While Sammy Watkins may or may not have a great rookie year, Robert Woods should have a bigger year in the slot. The Bills now have some really viable talent all around on offense. Lets just hope Bills OC Nate Hackett can put together a decent offensive scheme that can score, and win games. -
I think Woods could have a breakout year this season, and of course everything depends on EJ and that trio of inexperienced 2nd year QB's. Think about all those five WR sets that Chan Gailey ran with only one decent WR on the field, and everyone knew which one was getting the ball. The Bills now have enough talent on offense to field a great team. If only the Bills OC can put it all together. Will we see a George Edwards / Dave Wannstedt type of offense or a Mike Pettine type? Meaning will the Bills OC stop always running up the middle, and build an explosive offense that can score and win games?

I wouldn't get worked up over any non bills fans expectations for the season, as until this team actually has a winning season then people other then Bills fans will always be writing negative reviews. -
As do I, as do I. Si far I haven't heard of one mega billionaire who would be willing to step up and buy the team, move them and build a new stadium in LA. The biggest drawback that I see is getting that stadium built, as many many groups have wanted to build one and have gotten nowhere with the city.
-
Didn't we already know there are at least two groups that want to move the team to Toronto? Probably there are others who are thinking of LA, England or wherever they can maximize profits. Like I've stated before Trump wouldn't be that bad if he keeps the team in Buffalo, and there are others who we know will keep the team in western NY. The team is currently worth 870 mill, and will probably sell for north of one billion. Although I doubt it goes over 1.5.

should we be worried about the jets?
thewildrabbit replied to billsgpr88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not worried, perhaps a bit concerned tho. Looking back at that first game in week 3, with 8 sacks given up. Spiller 10 rushes for 9 yards. Then the bills didn't get a sack on Geno. The Bills didn't play very well at all in a lot of road games last season, as they only won two of eight road games. Those two road wins were against the Jags, Dolphins. The Jets almost always have a decent defense, and with new additions in free agency WR Eric Decker, RB Chris Johnson, and QB Mike Vick. Then they they drafted TE Jace Amaro out of Texas Tech. So they could build a decent offense under OC Marty Mornhinweg. I suppose everything will depend on injuries when they meet week 8, week 12. -
Frank Reich really lucked out by being hired by Mike McCoy, as I think he is a top offensive minded coach in the league. That man won a playoff game with Tebow at QB. Should the Chargers reach the SB this season then who knows what will happen. Its just good to see Frank get a great opportunity like this.

Be grateful that Josh Freeman chose the Vikings over the Bills last season. Because the Bills did want to sign him back then. The Buc's cut him and lost 6 mill in the process. The Vikings went after him then paid him 2 mill to watch him do the very same things that got him canned in Tampa, late to meetings, didn't know the offense, didn't care to learn the offense. The Giants had him on a short leash, and he showed he wasn't better then Curtis Painter / Ryan Nassib. In OTA drills Freeman lined up the offense incorrectly, and the play was never run. The Giants then pulled him off the field, and subbed in a different QB. Then they cut him. Why even waste the time on a bum who doesn't care?

When will you all understand the love affair this team has with Jeff Tuel, and Thad Lewis for that matter. If they weren't willing to put Tuel on the PS last year when they had Matt Flynn on the roster they must have a very deep fevered bromance working. The only way anything changes is if one of the three does go on IR.

Bills enjoy jump in season-ticket sales
thewildrabbit replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only playoff game that I can recall that i couldn't record in the entire late 80's early 90's hey day era was the greatest comeback game.(1992 season) I think that was only because both QB Jim Kelly, and biscuit were out with injuries, and a lot of fans most have thought the SB run was over. During that era the stadium held 80 thousand plus, and sold out just about every single game. In fact I'm pretty certain they set attendance records for the NFL during that time. I know Buffalo fans set an NFL single-season attendance record of 635,889 in 1991. The Stadium holds fewer now then it did back then due to the 1998 refitting with larger seating, club seating, and luxury boxes. Anyway, I'm still very amazed how many season tickets sell every year considering how mediocre the team has been over the last 14 years. If i recall correctly the 1984 (2-14) season the team only sold around 17, 000 season tickets. -

Definite reason why he is the CEO. He could sell ice to an Inuit ...sawdust to a sawmill...religion to the pope. Think about the recession the country just went through and the Buffalo Bills maintained a healthy profit. It does boggle the mind to think of what could happen should this team ever start to win more games then they lose. Is it because Bills fans are so starved for a winner that they will grasp at any decent improvement? Or do so many Bills fans think this team is really on the cusp of becoming a playoff team? The FO basically traded away their best WR for a backup RB. In free agency they overpaid for a starting OG who should be a backup, and grades about as bad as the Bills current backup who filled in for 10 games last season. They trade away next years first round pick for a WR who may struggle because the trio of second year QB's might struggle. On a positive note they might have a top ten defense again, and become better against the run. Providing that the new DC doesn't try and use his notoriously bad against the run "wide nine" defensive scheme. All I can say now is, the CEO that was impervious to what happened on the field as long as the team made a healthy profit. With new ownership taking over ...everyone at OBD will FTL. Do I want / hope the Bills field a winning team this year, make the playoffs. HECK YEAH! The realist in me says 9-7 at best. Bleacher report says 4-12 Vegas says 6.5 CBS sports 6.5 ESPN says 7-9. really they say 6.8, 3rd in the division A 9-7 finish might just be good enough to keep everyone employed. We are Bills fans, we can dream. -
Interesting article about "coaches in waiting", as CBSSPORTS.com Jason La Canfora talks about the list of coordinators on the rise. Interesting that Reich was the Chargers QB coach last season. Mike McCoy the new HC, Ken Wisenhunt the OC. The 2013 Chargers went 9-7 in the AFC WEST with the Chiefs, Broncos in the same division. They went to the playoffs under a rookie HC, and beat the Bengals 27-10 in the wildcard game. Then lost to the Broncos 17-24. The Chargers managed to beat the 11- 5 Chiefs twice, and the 13-3 Broncos once during the regular season. "But I continued to hear inside that building, and from outside of it, that Reich's work with Rivers as quarterback coach was huge." http://www.cbssports...inators-on-rise EDIT: "Frank Reich, who spent last season as the Chargers’ quarterbacks coach, will take over as their offensive coordinator now that Whisenhunt has left to become the head coach of the Titans." http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/14/chargers-promote-frank-reich-to-offensive-coordinator/

I want Trump for owner and you should too.
thewildrabbit replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could see Trump as a long term NFL team owner which is what he tried to become years ago as a USFL owner. Pretty sure he would love to be one of the select 32 owners in the world. Trump is a New Yorker, as he lives in Trump towers in NYC. I could see him wanting to keep New York states only true NFL team in Buffalo. Lets face it that this franchise has been so dysfunctional over the last 14 years because the past owner also being the president. I don't see Trump hiring "maybe'' head coaches, among others. Plus, I think he would demand accountability, and not after three years have been wasted. -
Joe B.: 5 Bills that could be in danger of being cut
thewildrabbit replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm hoping to see some immediate impact from those three rookies, OT Cyrus Kouandjio, OG Cyril Richardson, and OT Seantrel Henderson. Should the latter two become starters, then the times are a changing at OBD. Then the Bills snagged JJ Unga from the Ravens practice squad last year. The Bills could field a much better line this year imo -

thewildrabbit replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills could do worse then Trump IMO. The thing is this man wants to win, and won't settle for 14 years of losing. The one thing Bills fans need to understand is while he has stated he would keep the team in Buffalo. Although he has no real ties to the Buffalo community AFAIK. I'm thinking that while he will produce a winner long before 2020, and if a new stadium is built I see no reason that he would not keep the team in NY. JMO. -
The #1 OT's in America 2010 and 2011 are Bills.
thewildrabbit replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doug Whaley could very well turn out to be the GM who changes the really lousy draft history of the team over the last 14 years. If you look back at the history of this teams drafts you would find that the only players that ended up becoming long term impact starters were the players drafted in the first, and second rounds. Usually anyone drafted after those first two rounds ended up being a wasted draft pick. Hopefully the Bills could possibly have found three very good starters for the line...then again, they might have only found one. Time will tell. -
AFC East Winner or When will Brady decline?
thewildrabbit replied to Chas56's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Many things, and the many mistakes. Retaining the same bad special teams coach while blaming the players for its failure to perform. Then seeking out top special team players because they can't seem to coach them up with this coach. The very predictable play calling on offense, and the Bills OC forcing his players into a specific scheme rather then building an offense that best suits their talents. The poor judgement involved by this coaching staff in regards to several players. Despite the fact that the Bills were the #2 team in the NFL in rushing yards they were one of the worst controlling the line of scrimmage, clock. They were 30th in the NFL in sustaining drives for more then five min, as they had 214 drives, and only 10 of them were longer then five min. #28 in time of possession as the longer you can hold onto the ball the easier they make it for the defense. #29 in 3rd down efficiency 244 attempts, 83 converted =34%. The Bills GM, HC & OC were all NFL rookies last year, and both the HC & OC could improve well enough to win more games. Simply because as with anything the more experience you have at doing something the better you get. Will they become good enough to build a winning team or playoff team? I have my doubts is the basis for my statement.
