  1. Spiller was very excited to see Sammy Watkins drafted by the Bills, and about the only player equally excited was EJ. I could see why the FO might think it would be a smart move to trade Spiller before the trade deadline should the team fall on its face the first half of the season. That is "IF" they can't reach a reasonable negotiation point with CJ by then, and the FO wants to make that #1 to Cleveland next year less painful with a #2 or #3. Should Hackett grow a brain, and utilize Spiller like Gailey did in a pass first, spread offense then that might make him as valuable as to get a #1 pick in trade. Better to get something for him then see him walk like Levitre, Byrd. But this trading away #1 picks for 4th rounders (Lynch) is beyond moronic. The Buffalo Bills, farm club for the rest of the league. Someone explain why Mr Fumble, Bryce Brown from the Iggles who hasn't proven a darn thing, and is currently 4th string along with Ronnie Wingo is anywhere near as good as CJ (who made the pro bowl when used properly in 2012) Anthony Dixon from SF, in his lone start in 2013. 28 rushing attempts for 56 yards for a whopping 2.0 YPC avg. EDIT: Should the team fail badly on offense again this year, can we trade Hackett for a yoohoo in a bottle, and a pack of slim jims? Or just fire the guy before the half way point and bring back Gailey. Man, what that guy would do with an actual decent WR corps.
  2. Not to hijack Freddy's thread. I get that both Brandon and even Littman have been brilliant in their jobs in making money for Mr Wilson in such a small market. But that is because of such a rabid fan base who were terrified of the team leaving the city should something happen to the owner. That something has happened, and with a new owner devoted to this city like the Pegula family currently is, will fans keep supporting an inferior product should the new owner retain the exact status quo in every regard? Will the fans keep tolerating all the losing? I can recall the 70's & 80's when the fans wouldn't tolerate the constant losing, and refused to buy tickets. Then what happens when you have an owner who wants to go balls to the wall and spend every cent he has available to build a winner, and then what happens when the team doesn't win? Didn't Pegula already screw himself with bad management choices with the Sabres? Perhaps I'm being greedy, but I want to see the Bills get an owner that will keep the team in Buffalo, and build a winner asap should the current regime fail again this season. Cheers Freddy!
  3. Jeez Kirby, thanks for ruining my excitement of TP owning the Bills. Here my thinking that its all good, should the team win this season, then great! Should the team lose then the Bills get a new coaching staff / FO.Now that won't happen, will it . Oh well, cheers to Freddy!
  4. Same. The Raiders lease in Oakland expires at the end of this season, and Mark Davis is very unhappy with the current stadium they play home games in. The A's just signed a 10 year deal, and Mark Davis is tired of having his team play in a baseball pit. From what I'm reading San Antonio is welcoming him with open arms to have their own NFL team. They are also willing to help with upgrading the Alamo Dome, and then go into negotiations to build a new stadium. "Davis told San Antonio civic and business leaders he isn't seeking a "Jerry Jones-type facility" and prefers "a small, intimate" stadium that he can place "a statue of his father (Al) in front of," a source said." http://www.sfgate.com/raiders/article/Raiders-look-at-potential-home-deep-in-heart-of-5655367.php Even the thought of the Raiders playing in SA for any amount of time must be giving Jerry some serious "agida"
  5. I have no idea why so many on this board think think so highly of the 4th string RB back there with Ronnie Wingo. http://www.buffalobills.com/team/depth-chart.html I'm not entirely sold on Mr Fumble just yet, or if he were worth a darn why Chip would even trade him away....even if the iggles did manage to garner a 3rd, 4th for a 7th round pick. Anyway, I'm very happy the Bills made Fredex happy.
  6. Cheers for Freddy , and to Freddy! I hope they utilize him in a Darren Sproles type role to ensure his longevity.
  7. We gotta stop with the training camp microscopes, Its not even preseason yet either. Geno did get full many more reps in pre season, and regular season last year. I'm more concerned about how the entire offense will perform in the up coming HoF game. After around game 6 EJ will have around a years playing experience, providing he stays healthy.
  8. From what I've read JBJ, and his group will be the least likely new owner. As groups get consideration last over single buyers. That is even if they come in with the top bid, and I highly doubt that happens. TP continues to be the front runner in this issue, and the only way that changes is if someone goes nuts to the tune of 1.5 to 2 billion. Like Google CEO Larry page. JBJ simply doesn't have that much cash. Supposed first bid at 1.3 billion, which probably knocks out Trump & JBJ right out of contention.
  9. This is more then just a threat, and there is no way Oakland will build a new stadium for the Raiders. Davis wants a smaller more intimate stadium just for Football, and Oakland would want a larger domed stadium to hold other events in it. Then LA is also out of the question. The Alamo dome holds 65,000, and can be expanded to hold 72,000. No professional sports team currently calls the Alamo dome home. So, the only alternative is San Antonio, and the Alamo dome. Which could be upgraded to support an NFL in time for kick off of the 2015 season. The Raiders have a past history of moving their team when stadium situations don't suit them. My take is the son will follow in his fathers footsteps. http://www.businessinsider.com/oakland-raiders-moving-san-antonio-2014-7 http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24642071/report-raiders-owner-mark-davis-meets-with-san-antonio-officials
  10. Of course everyone other then Browns, Bills fans thinks the Browns and Bills will finish last in their divisions, and be looking to draft a QB next year. So many in the media have already criticized the 2014 trade, and they could be justified to do so. It remains to be seen if the trade will work out to propel the Bills to later first round draft pick this year, and even if the Bills make it to the playoffs. Fans will probably still be complaining about the trade at the 2015 draft. We fans had no control over the situation, and still don't. All we can do is vent or cheer. BTW, Charlie
  11. You guys gotta understand that there is a real reason as to why no NFL team wants to make LA their home. No decent stadium! Al Davis thought he could fill the 100,000 seat coliseum, and he was wrong. There are no club seats, no luxury boxes for corporate, no elite concession stands. That stadium was built in 19 freaking 21 and is 93 years old! It is now the primary home to the USC Trojans, and the current capacity is 93,607. Its a college stadium. Al Davis tried to get the coliseum committee to renovate with club seats, and luxury boxes and they refused. So he moved back to Oakland. Unless Oakland ponies up to help build a new stadium for the Raiders, I suspect they will permanently leave for San Antonio.. no question!
  12. "Hopefully we will be well represented" Here, here. It could even garner some respect, and help the Bills gain more fans. Its a good time to be a Bills fan to finally see Andre Reed get into canton. Hopefully the Bills play well, and come away with no serious injuries.
  13. I share that concern as well. Simply put the offensive scheme they utilized wasn't very successful at winning games as the offense had virtually no ball control, and couldn't stay on the field to finish drives often enough. I'm hoping the rookie coaching staff learned from last seasons mistakes. We will see soon enough, 3days, 18 hours.
  14. Doubtful, as they couldn't fill the coliseum when they were there in 82-94, and had many games blacked out. Besides the committee there already refused his father on luxury boxes and club seats. Kinda why no NFL team really wants to move there. Its going to take a new stadium being built to get another NFL team in LA, and so far nobody wants to speculate a billion dollars to build a stadium without* that promise of an NFL team.
  15. naa, Jones has said he gets a lot of fans from the San Antonio area just the same way RW used to say he got a lot of fans from Rochester. Its like a stake in a vampires heart for Jones to not have his club seats, and luxury boxes filled. All it might take to see the Raiders get to the playoffs after to moving to SA. We Bills fans would feel so bad about that, now wouldn't we.
  16. Man o man they do have some "crazies" as fans. Anyway, it wouldn't surprise me that Mark Davis is not just making threats to move to get the Oakland leaders to give in to his demands for a new stadium. Sometimes it takes a move for a city to realize what they lose when their beloved NFL team moves away. It would warm my heart to see Jones getting some competition for fans from another NFL team
  17. NDAs aside, a mystery bidder or two often steps up at the last minute in pro sports team sales. And if some cash-flush multi-billionaire, say, next week wants to blow everyone out of the water with a $2-billion bid, the trust and Morgan Stanley aren't going to reply, "Sorry, you missed Tuesday's deadline." http://www.torontosun.com/2014/07/29/probably-few-new-bidders-will-bid-today-for-bills We will find out more towards the end of the week, and even then nobody has to disclose anything from what I gather.
  18. Considering how poorly the team played on the road against some teams last season, I for one am not very confidant of an opening day road victory. However that could change depending on how they handle themselves this preseason on the road at the HoF game, at Carolina, at Pittsburgh. The rookie coaching staff, and rookie QB could have learned quite a bit from last year, or not.
  19. nobody? Chan Gailey was the Denver OC that year. He was the Broncos QB coach in 88, and moved up to OC for 89-90. That 1990, 5-11 record was brutal for Denver so they fired Gailey and promoted QB coach Mike Shanahan to OC for 1991. That 1990 season with Gailey as OC was the worst year in John Elways 16 year NFL career!
  20. I agree ...to a point. My take is this up coming season is equally dependent on the Bills OC configuring a run game a bit more complex then running up the middle 70+% of the time. All that rushing, and run plays last season didn't really amount to much in terms of first downs and wins. Then he also needs to make certain that hurry up offense is staying on the field and moving the chains rather then 3 downs, and a punt. EJ was under the gun in third, and long way to often because the run game failed to make yards, which you alluded to. The Bills were also 31st in first down percentage, and 25th in three downs and out percentage. Because the Bills were so bad at staying on the field to finish drives. it also hurt the defense from being on the field so much. Recently HC Doug Marrone has expressed great frustration with his line, and stated such. On day six the Bills line gave up 8 sacks in 17 plays is probably why, and that wasn't just against the Bills first string D. Things should get better once LT Cordy Glenn returns to practice. The entire team needs to do better this upcoming season. Lets hope they get it together!
  21. Good stuff, thanks Astro!
  22. That game was very exciting at the very end of the game, final score 29-28. Game 3, 1990. Denver was up 21 to 9 in the 3rd quarter, and was looking to win until that 20 point turnaround in the 4th quarter by the Bills. Both teams were 2-1 going into that game. Back then the Bronco's didn't have a 1000 yard rushing RB to help John Elway until Bobby Humphrey got to Denver in 89. It was looking hopeless for Buffalo as Elway just kept driving his team down the field. The Broncos 208 yards rushing, Elway 221 yards passing. The Bills really looked pathetic with only 64 yards rushing, and 167 yards passing. The Bills had 3 turnovers, and Denver had 5 turnovers. Denver finished the season 5-11 that year, anyone remember who the Bronco's OC was for that year? Or who Denver's QB coach was?
  23. I still have a 20 x 30 pic I took of Bruce just after he sacked Montana, Smith over Joe trying to find out if he is ok, as Joe is laying on the ground clutching his face mask with both hands. I can also recall Marty S petitioning the league to get the AFC Championship game moved to a neutral site because the Bills were so dominate back then. Interesting note that Paul Hackett was the Chiefs OC for that game.
  24. That 1980 Dolphin game for sure. 10 years man, 10 years! The bills hadn't beaten the Dolphins once in the entire decade of the 70's. Plus, the 1988 week 12 Jets game in a unreal downpour that the Bills won in OT 9-6. They won the division title and set an NFL record for first team to win the division in 12 games. They were also 11-1 at that time. The goal posts came down that game, and then went up into the stands, and were being passed around by fans. I still have the poster that says "fan-demonium" with a shot of a fan standing on the goal post, and showing the entire field covered with fans running around, and going mental. I was drenched to the bone that game, and loved every moment of it. That 1990 AFC Championship game was also pretty awesome. i got to the stadium early to put up my "thermal Warfare" painted sheet on the stadium floor wall. 51-3 was just such domination over Al Davis's Raiders. My favorite tho has to be the Bills-Oiler 41-38 OT comeback game in where half the stadium emptied just after the half, 28-3 at the half, and then an a Buffalo INT return for a TD put the game at 35-3. so many fans stood up and walked out after that play. Then almost all had returned by the 4th quarter. I heard fans were climbing those huge fences to get back into the game. My friends around me kept asking me if I was going to leave, and I said an emphatic no. I wanted to stay and boo them off the field just like I stayed and cheered them on when they won. Needless to say I was cheering like crazy at the end.
  25. Kirby starting to look a lot like nevergiveup To further ease some fears. the Bills website stated he is with the team at training camp, and working out. Just not participating in any practices.
