Its going to be all for naught if the Bills offense can't sustain drives. That Bills D will be worn out by the 4th QTR. thanks for looking

Marrone open to bringing in another viable QB.

The team is probably waiting for the cuts on Tuesday. -
Last year that Buccaneers D line was outstanding against the Bills O line in week 14, and dominated them all game. The result was a 6-27 loss on the road. They sacked EJ 7 times that game, and shut down the Bills run game for 22 attempts rushing for 67 to total yards. Those numbers should jump out and gave anyone who thinks that O line is good enough... a cold hard slap in the face! Now this year that first string defense for the Buc's looked about the same as last year, and so did the Bills offense. That "hurry up and punt" offense looks about the same as it did last season. That first half went like this, INT, punt, fumble, punt, punt, fumble, punt!! If this sorry first half performance of the "entire" team doesn't give Bills fans pause for concern that this is more then just a QB problem. Then hey, ignore the fact that the run game didn't work either. The line was constantly flagged for penalties, couldn't hold blocks, and was mostly ineffectual against that first string Buc's D. Let me tell you about a team that drafted a QB 3rd overall, and then went to the playoffs in his first season. Since then that team went 11-5, 9-5, 13-3, 10-6, 13-3, and just last year went 4-12 because of injuries to the starting WR's & RB, and a bad line. If this story doesn't exemplify what it means to have a solid team around the QB in order for them to succeed. Then explaining anything further is wasted on fans who just want to focus and vent about the QB position. Wanna know what position that team drafted with a top 10 pick in the 2014 draft, an OT. Understand folks, its a team game, and every position is important. Bottom line: One preseason game and two weeks to go before the opener at Chicago. Lets hope that offense gets it together by then.

If we could go back to the draft

The Bills got extremely lucky with #2 pick Cordy Glenn, and by the same token not so lucky with #2 pick Cujo. Glenn is an above average player at LT, a rare find indeed. Woods is an above average player at center. Henderson looks to be the steal of the draft for a starting tackle taken in the 7th round. Lets face facts here, the Bills have a slew of below average OG's, and nothing they can do until they find better players at OG will result in a top, coherent, cohesive O line. I get that they didn't want to pay Levitre because he wasn't that great at run blocking, and graded as the teams best pass blocker. Its been two years and they still haven't adequately replaced him. YoloinOhio keeps bringing up 49ers 27 year old OG Alex Boone who is currently holding out. He has played in all 16 games the last two years, and although he graded at (-1.9) at the end of last year. It IS better then the (-21.8) Chis Williams got with the rams. Williams is the current starter at LG Then there is another alternative, and i really question myself for bringing it up at all. Here goes... OG Ritchie Incognito is still looking for a team. He has a grade of being a top ten OG in around the same grade as Levitre with a pass block efficiency of 97.51.. If the Bills want to win games this year, then they had better sign him asap. Just give him a muzzle clause, no twitter, no talk, and one chance. -
Feel free to panic! There is no way this coaching staff ends their bromance with Tuel Or Lewis by placing them on the practice squad. Although, I have no idea what they see in those two. It must be something very secretive tho, so other teams in the AFC East don't snatch them right up. Sok, once new ownership takes over they will hire a competent coaching staff.

The Colts worked to improve their line as Luck was sacked way to often, and they knew it. A better line, and that team goes further in the playoffs. Still, we are not talking about comparing the Colts line to the poop the Bills fielded last year in replacing Levitre. Matt Ryan was healthy all last year, although the same can't be said for his line or receiver corps. Taking away those two factors shows how important having a good line, WR corps can be to a team. A proven playoff QB went* into the crapper with sub par players. I have no idea why others don't ever notice stuff like this. Matt Stafford went into a funk late last season because his line failed to protect him. The result of that got his HC fired...Schwartz is now the Bills DC! Stafford is a QB that for 4650 yards, has the very best WR in the game. a top RB. So why aren't they in the playoffs every year? Both Aaron Rodgers & Big Ben miss time because of their bad lines, and both have suffered numerous concussions. How long will they remain being good QB's if that continues to happen? It makes me wonder would those teams (GB, Pitt, Atl, Indy) have become a dynasties like the Patriots with a better O lines? You simply can't compare what the Bills fielded to other team because the Bills OG's were among some of the very worst in the league, as was the RT. Thus the reason why Whaley signed a FA OG for 5.5 mill, and drafted three new O linemen.
-
My man, coming around to my point of view with the line troubles! It was the first time for those four to start at those positions. Glenn, Richardson, Wood, Pears, Henderson. So they still have two weeks to get it together. Like someone else stated the OG position is downright scary, and I doubt it gets better with Williams playing. And like another mentioned the playbook was very limited, and no Sammy. To put another perspective on it, EJ didn't trip over his own feet, he didn't fail to open holes, hold blocks or get so many penalties. Lets just hope they improve for the Bears game.
-
not really, he went 3-2 last year for Chicago after Cutler went down 13 TD's, one int with a questionable O line
-
Now, why is EJ still out there? Lewis & Tuel need work too
-
they finally decide to open up the playbook? Or is this what a QB looks like against the backups? TD Mike Williams !!
-
11 players take the field, and that line is playing worse the EJ IMO I get that this coaching staff figures that they will see the exact same defense against Chicago, and only want to run a handful of plays. So that they don't show anything for the opener. This game has got to be a confidence breaker for the entire team. Play to win, every game!
-
No, EJ is sucking today for sure. But he isn't the only one. But he isn't running the ball for 3 attempts -2 yards, he isn't the one not making the blocks, he isn't the one not getting open, he isn't the one getting all the penalties.
-
Dude, we know he hasn't played against starters. He sucked hard in that second pre season game This looks like a real NFL team playing against a college team....oh wait!
-
I see it also OldTimer, yet just about everyone wants to put it all on EJ. I blame the coaching. At this point i gotta wonder if Brandon is thinking about firing both Marrone & Hackett.
-
No he isn't. Has he played at all against starters...no! There is more to a team then one position!
-
Can we trade Hackett for a half empty bottle of Yoohoo, and a handful of slim jims? oh yea, those offensive play calls are so beautiful 24-0, and just proved no matter how good the defense is...ya still need at least a decent run game
-
I would have to think so Although, I can see why the FO didn't want to try another Chicago connection. Brandon believed in Marrone and his Syracuse friend.
-
I saw the holding big time I saw the holding also, they only want to call it on the bills it seems
-
C'mon Kirby, really? look at the team around him. Is the run game working and getting big yards or first downs? I see penalties, ineffectual blocking. I suppose getting sacked by an unblocked defender, Chandler tripping over his own feet. players not open down field all EJ's fault. Is he sucking, yea! But, Nassib really?
-
he doesn't know the Bills awesome hurry up and punt offense. He is playing on the NY Giants, and perhaps they have an offense that works. and he is lighting it up against players who probably won't ever see a start in the NFL, 3rd stringers
-
this is brutal to watch... I blame hackkett / Marrrone more then EJ, lots of penalties, crappy scheme How is that Bills dominate run game working so far?
-
...... ....
